Stock played for Doncaster today, played up until the last 10 i think, obviously not fully fit after his injury yet, and i think on the football league show he might have been the first in their line-up before kick-off, so might have been captain too but i cant confirm this! Can anyone else??

Looks like he's staying at Doncaster even though my contacts have told me otherwise!!

Didnt parsew say something about saints didnt agree with donnies valuation of stock as a reason why he has signed.

Now that hammond is out I would suggest that they may quickly agree witrh donnie on his value. Hammonds injury may be a blessing in disguise in closing a deal for stock quickly.

I don't necessarily think it was Pardew who decides on the valuation.

Mick Channon said once that Ted Bates did everything, coaching, picking the team and also took care of organising the transfers.

More recently - during Strachans time - WGS said he gave "the unmentionable chairman "- a list of players and left it to him to get the best deal he could.

Nicola Cortese's banking background puts him in better position to decide finance than 90-odd other chairmen in the League. I wouldn't be surprised if AP had quite a long list, but NC did the deals and dealt with " valuations."

Besides as Donnie also want Gillett..maybe there's a discussion about his valuation. Certainly a 29 year old midfielder from CCC can't be worth ..so much !

If Stock can make the difference between playoffs this season rather than next his valuation is largely immaterial IMO as it will be offset by the relative riches of the Championship.

If Pardew doesn't sign another player of Stock's calibre then it sends out the message that we now don't think the playoffs is a realistic target.

maybe this is where the "sporting director" would come in....thrashing out a deal like this..

pardew probably has not got the time and maybe would not want to do it...and NC has no experience in football...

I asked this question at the beginning of the season but will ask it again now: "if cortese thinks that a DoF is an important role, why wait until the summer? Surely such an 'important' role would be needed for the January transfer window too?"

I must be missing a piece or two of cortese's logic jigsaw spmewhere along the line.

Achillies injury, could be out for a couple of weeks.

Ouchee!! Trouble is a couple of weeks can be very generous, it can persist as a problem for years, I did one of mine 5 years ago and it still gives me grief, I certainly don't give it the workout a pro footballer would every day.

Shame really as I like Hammond's psychopathic style of play.
