Big_Bald_Si Posted 17 September, 2008 Share Posted 17 September, 2008 Went to the game tonight, and I must say I thought the support was absolutely fantastic - especially when we went 2-1 down. The whole crowd got right behind the boys and spurred them onto that equaliser. Great stuff!
saintsforlife7 Posted 17 September, 2008 Share Posted 17 September, 2008 Good to see that we sang OWTS for a good 15minutes and continued that with songs that seemed to keep some faith in the players. After the goal Kelvin did clap the Northam as to say well done for keeping going, just what we need right now and good to see we can get behind the team and make a difference even when all is not well
StuRomseySaint Posted 17 September, 2008 Share Posted 17 September, 2008 The fans left in the Northam are mongs, the first thing I will be doing in the morning is emailing Mr Luker to change my seat. I am almost 29 and seemed to be the oldest c*nt at the back of block 42 by at least 12 years. We go 2-1 down and some mongs start to sing 'Swing Lowe' , now everyone is entitled to an opinion but fookin hell lads, have a word with yourselves. * Our fans our an embarrassment, our lack of fans are an embarrassment too. Singing 'Oh when the Saints' for 20 minutes is tedious to say the least as well, and the renditions of 'Southampton boys in town' and 'Southampton till I die' took the biscuit. * I am allowed to comment on the said mongs on an internet messageboard because they were told in no uncertain terms what mongs they were during the game. Oh, one last shout out to the lad in front of me who not only dared wear a replica shirt over a hoodie. It also had the following on the back Jamie 4 Emma ..... nice one mate, had me in fits of giggles all game.

They didnt last long or catch on as it was soon drowned out by fans SUPPORTING the team. I do however disagree with the OWTS chant being tedious. I thought it was decent. Maybe we're now at the point of developing a siege mentality and the real hard core giving 100% support to the lads. Have to say I didn't notice too many people getting frustrated around me last night. Most could tell they were all trying their best and not just taking the pay cheque and under performing. A win on Saturday would be good for both team and supporters alike (lose and I'll be shi77ing myself).
70's Mike Posted 18 September, 2008 Share Posted 18 September, 2008 My attitude is I do not like what is going on at the club, disagree with the plan etc. BUT this is my football club and it needs me NOW Rupert and his chums are just passing through , i will put my loathing of him, his methods etc on HOLD because i am dammed if i will let any outsiders ridicule my CLUB. a win Saturday means as much as all the good times because only the next game matters. Yes i will moan on other threads but 3pm Saturday until 4.55pm and it is COYR, OWTSGMI

Two fights nearly kicked off in the first half alone between mong saints fans. There is also far too many under 16s walking about in their "clobber" thinking they're hooligans. StuRomseySaint Posted 18 September, 2008 Share Posted 18 September, 2008 14k is embarrassing, but at the end of the day, there are two games in the space of a couple of days. There are a number of reasons why personally I can't be arsed any more ( although I still turn up ) Northam Stand - As alot of the older faces have either moved away or don't go to games any more, they have been replaced with teenagers in their fake Stone Island, thinking they are the dogs nads, spending the game starting off pointless songs and goading away fans when they would be running faster than Usain Bolt if ever confronted. There is a group of about 20 of us at the back of 42 who have had enough of some of these idiots, It very nearly kicked off last night and I dare say it will do in the very near future if all these little green street elite don't sort their attitudes out. I looked around the area I sit, 42 MM and I seriously was one of the oldest in view, even though I am still in my 20's! I wish that the Ticket Office had found a way to turn block 42 into an adult price only block, this would have such a positive effect for atmosphere and general enjoyment of the game for many. Hopefully next season it will be something that they look at again. The Pricing - Two games in a couple of days, people are not going to shell out £50 for two games of football under the current situation, the attendance on Saturday will be a good indication of how many we will get for the rest of the season. OldNick Posted 18 September, 2008 Share Posted 18 September, 2008 I heard the swing lowe but it was hardly audible at the front of the Northam, for me Kelvins reaction when we scored the equaliser summed it up for the team.He clapped the fans for staying behind the team and that is credit to the fans who sang the OWTS. Stu Im surprised at your attitude, but to me the anti Pompey songs are the things that drive me crazy, why give them any thought at our stadium. We will just lower ourselves to their low standards. I do agree in a way, there were a bunch of lads in 42 MM who just stood infront of me chatting taking each others phone numbers, totally oblivious to the fact a game of football was on. Yes I am a teenager but i go to watch the game and support the team. Quite a few of the older season ticket holders around me from last season didn't come back, although you see them at the odd game. The lowe out chants and booing from some at half time was a disgrace, first half we played reasonably well and 1-1 was fair enough at the break. And then we go 2-1 down and swing lowe starts, what a ****ing joke. You may not have liked it Stu but the constant singing was kind of uplifting, and kelvin clearly appreciated it. The attendance I guess is understandable, 2 games in 3 days, wednesday night and only 3 points until yesterday. You really gonna move seat then stu? hodds Posted 18 September, 2008 Share Posted 18 September, 2008 Was my 1st game standing near the back of the northam lastnight (as usually in block 2) and didnt have any problems. owts was good for 15mins, otherwise all we do is end up repeating every chant about 10 times! was good to see the crowd getting behind the team when we went behind, yes there were a couple of lowe songs, but they were drowned out quickly with positive songs. Keep it up northern! another reason for poor attendance is that we've just had 2 games on sky, both of which we've lost, so a lot of people who dont go to every game were more likely to wait a couple of games before going again. Scudamore Posted 18 September, 2008 Share Posted 18 September, 2008 Sat in the Kingsland and the atmosphere was sh:te. I tried singing a number of times but nobody else seemed interested...and i always feel like a bit of a c::nt singin by myself...but yeah i agree the Northam did a grand job in that second half...it does get a bit monotonous but at least we're making a noise... And don't even get me started on the two women sat behind me...moaning minnies the pair of em...the sound of tutting was ringing in my ears at halftime...gladly my old man pointed out to them after our second that if they want to see wins every week they should probably go and watch Man U or Arsenal instead... I don't mind the odd moan (we all do it) but let's have a bit of encouragement when they do well eh? Oh and one final thing...was in the toilet after the game...and some bloke was just finishing up... HIM: (to no one in particular) I think that proves we need a good old fashioned English manager... SCUDAMORE: I think you're full of sh:t... HIM: What? SCUDAMORE: I said I think you're wrong... He walked off...i chuckled to myself... SCUDAMORE: (to the bloke the other side of him) English manager my arse... I fail to see how that game proved anything of the sort personally... Chez Posted 18 September, 2008 Share Posted 18 September, 2008 it was 15k by the way, but I agree that it is embaressing to see more empty seats than full. I'd like to think that Lowe et al would reward the 13,500 `hard core' saints fans should we ever make it back to the big time, but will they ****. I have to say the decision to keep the family centre corner open is just laughable. There were about 25 fans in that secition last night and probably less than 1000 in the Chapel. That whole end should have become the family section. Overall the atmosphere in the ground is poor. Closing the Itchen corner was a big mistake and totally ruined my `match day experience'. TheSaint75 Posted 18 September, 2008 Share Posted 18 September, 2008 I think apart from a 15min spell the crowd was shi7e, too many people getting on the players backs when a pass is misplaced, i've never been able to hear the players and coaches shouting at each other as I did last night. Even the Ipswich fans got bored trying to goad us as they didn't get a response! Also you could visably see the team get a lift when OWTSGMI got going, which led to the confidence to push for the 2nd goal. I just don't understand these nobs that just want to whinge at every given oppurtunity, these are young players and we too have a part to play in our success good or bad. If we get behind the lads from the start to finish it could give them that extra bit needed to avoid relegation IMHO
