Surely rather than promoting the playoff final loser they would automatically promote the top 3 teams then 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th contest the playoffs?

yes, only 2 teams leave the prem and join the ccc, and 3 teams leave the ccc and join the prem. this leaves the ccc a team short.

 

IF this were to happen, I think a only 2 will be relegated from the ccc.

If they were out of business there would be a need for an additional team at the bottom of the 4th Div and so on until the leagues are full. Everyone below Pompey's current position would have to move up 1 place, do the math, the OP is spot on by my reckoning
