Matthew Le God Posted 10 August, 2010 Share Posted 10 August, 2010 Attendance - 17,135 Biggest attendance of the League Cup 1st round. Even remains the biggest of the round if you take away the 4,068 Bournemouth fans as the next biggest in the League Cup was 13k at Norwich vs Gillingham(and that 13k includes Gillingham fans). And yet Bournemouth have cheek to mock a lack of Saints fans! Well done Saints fans

They might have saved us from financial oblivion. I just hope they have the good grace not to go on and on about it.
docker-p Posted 10 August, 2010 Share Posted 10 August, 2010 It was their Cup final, it was our League Cup first round, so not bad.
RonManager Posted 10 August, 2010 Share Posted 10 August, 2010 Should've been 17136, but the Ronmobile still being sick meant I couldn't make it tonight.
dubai_phil Posted 10 August, 2010 Share Posted 10 August, 2010 Come 18th August, as this was a Cup Game and they get a share they may have more to thank us about than the occassional loan and friendly CVA hearing stuff

La BoIS Saint Posted 10 August, 2010 Share Posted 10 August, 2010 Was there noticeably less than Saturday's crowd there? 21k seemed high on Sat, was wondering if they were counting all STs whether there or not.

ST's aren't included in cup games so all 17,135 should have been there.

Pilchards Posted 10 August, 2010 Share Posted 10 August, 2010 (edited) Few teams would love to draw us next as our fans do make the effort to boost extra income. Well done everyone tonight, great turnout. Edited 10 August, 2010 by Pilchards
Jeff Le Taxi Posted 10 August, 2010 Share Posted 10 August, 2010 Itchen was busy, Northam was busy, Kingsland was moderate/busy Chapel was almost empty! not what i would have expected seeing as it was the school holidays!
Tractor_Saint Posted 10 August, 2010 Share Posted 10 August, 2010 Season tickets aren't just counted are they unless the tickets are taken on the gate? (re: Plymouth). If there were 17k there today then, yes, there was 21k there at Plymouth. A good crowd tonight on an evening when the weather didn't look good but in the end I got home pretty dry (and sit 2nd row from the front).. Rebel Posted 10 August, 2010 Share Posted 10 August, 2010 I thought it was just our usual pre-season friendly against Bournemouth - and at £17 I thought it was a bit too much to watch that lot from the beach/retirement village on the other side of the New Forest its not exactly a derby is it - half of Bournemouth support Saints anyway last time I watched Saints play Bournemouth at Dean Court there were far more Saints fans in and around the ground the ground than they were Bournemouth fans - so many of us that an awful lot of Saints fans were stuck outside the ground still the Bournemouth fans were fairly unpleasant until they realised they were massively outnumbered - and I'd only gone as Bournemouth were desperate for the money from the gate receipts to keep afloat - that's gratitude for you! its like being hated by the little old lady down the road with a zimmer frame and no teeth - when you've you know the blue few at the other end of the road - dirty cheating lying violent ASBOS living in the squat with the burnt out car in the drive and the mouldy sofa on the lawn - hate you with a passion
OWTS Posted 10 August, 2010 Share Posted 10 August, 2010 I thought the Bournemouth fans were fairly impressive, 4,000+ for a carling cup round 1 game is excellent no matter who you're playing. They were fairly loud too until Lallana curled that beauty in. Good turn out of 13k Saints too.
SaintBobby Posted 11 August, 2010 Share Posted 11 August, 2010 Good attendance. Feel a bit ashamed I didn't go myself. Fair play to the Cherries - fans, team and manager. I hope they stay up.

Brussels Saint Posted 11 August, 2010 Share Posted 11 August, 2010 Must admit I was a bit surprised at that 17k+ for a league cup 1st round, in Aug, on a Tuesday night and 18quid a ticket. Great stuff, are the plastics back? Well done to all Saints fans who went and thanks Bournmouth.
NickG Posted 11 August, 2010 Share Posted 11 August, 2010 surprised following ticket pricing, maybe they know what they are doing??!!
MadDogMatt Posted 11 August, 2010 Share Posted 11 August, 2010 Just to put this praise of the Bournemouth fans in a bit of context, a few of them were not a credit to their club at all. Throat slitting gestures at the Northam based Saints fans at worst, plenty of V signs, w888rs etc. etc. A minority most certainly, but not what you would expect from the biggest OAP evacuation since the war. scott_saints Posted 11 August, 2010 Share Posted 11 August, 2010 Was funny when they started singing "scummers" at the itchen. All they got in return was alot of pointing and laughing, bless 'em.
