Book of Condolence

Went up to the stadium about 1pm to pay my respects and sign the book. Was a good queue building. Will be a nice touch and gesture from us if as many people get there to sign it as possible.

One positive " thankyou Mr Cortese " moment, is that the barriers are up in St Marys so parking is free for people who wish to pay their respects and sign the book ( the queue looked more than 30 minutes ) - well done SFC.

It's a shame that the book will be taken away before the Orient game, that'll be the first chance I have to get down to the stadium.

I agree with this, not living in the area it'll be the only chance I get too. Although I do think there was an e-mail address to send messages of condolence.

i queued for over an hour, was nice to see most of the players turn up and sign the book aswell, then they went and had a look at all the flowers, shirts etc.

Thats nice to see the players doing that. Its a shame the book won't be there till Orient, but understand the issue with loads of people queing. Hope the flowers, shirts etc stay till then though.

I think that email has been closed, the emails keep being returned to me when I send one.

yes I agree, although practically the queues would be such that it would be impossible to manage I would think.

very true

Me too, as adding something to the collection will be my way of showing respect as the book won't be there. Hopefully the club will keep everything there and tidy until then (I've no doubt they will do).

Lets hope so i'd like to do the same but they might move the stuff. If they do i'm sure they'll be a lot of people who wouldnt have got down so we can start a new one.

It was really emotional today. The queue to sign the book took about 15 minutes, and in that time everyone was just silent with their thoughts looking at the tributes. God I love being a Saints fan, and seeing how much our club means to the City and all the fans worldwide. It's times like these that the glory hunters that "support" man united/Chelsea etc have no idea what supporting your local team is really like. The love and passion shown during all this, and what Saints means to us all is what makes me well up. Last season and the trophy win at Wembley was the day we all deserved, and Markus being there with his camera was the cherry on the cake.

Went up today, signed the book (as did my Father) and we laid an old shirt with a message on it. Got quite emotional, which I didn't expect, but I feel I have done all I can. Will (obviously) be at the Orient game, and also had a tribute added on the OS. Just want the man and his family aware of my admiration for the late, great Markus.

I quite understand that it would be hard to keep the book open for the Orient game.

I'm going to try and take Friday afternoon off work so I can come down to Southampton with the missus and sign the book.

I also want to walk right round the stadium when its quiet and empty, which is not something Saints exiles like me ever really get the chance to do.

I will be grateful to Markus for the rest of my life.

Myself and all the family and friends i go to footy with are going to St Marys on Saturday to leave flowers and shirts etc.We are also going to sign the book as well.

Its the first time anyone of us has ever done something like this, but we feel its needed because without Markus, there would not have been a club to support.

After what Markus did for us,i think its not too much to ask that we show our respect.

Well said fella. Me & nipper have just signed the book.

I agree with others also, that we might not win much, we get to tweak the big club's tails every now and then but do you know what? We are a big club. We have big hearts which are aching at the moment but we are all in this together. We will continue to follow Saints, through thick and thin. To hopefully reach the goals which Markus had planned for us.

Despite all our petty squabbles on here I firmly believe that we are the best set of fans in the world.

Saints chose us. Markus chose Saints.

It works for me.

went down this afternoon with my mate, just as it poured it down.everyone stood in line, stayed where they were not letting it effect them, quietly reflecting on the circumstances.didn't have a clue wot to write as i stood there but as soon as i picked up the pen the words popped into my head.was nice seeing all the tributes but just a shame that some of the writing on the shirts was ruined by the rain.

Travelled down to pay my respects today, a truly fantastic set of tributes have been left outside the stadium which indicates the high regard that Markus is held by our wonderful fans.

The wind has played havoc with some of the shirt and tributes that are not weighed down; hopeful someone at the club can help keep them straighten out over the next week.

Went down today to lay a shirt and sign the book, some genuinely touching tributes, particularly the drawings and messages left by children. I know he was a very private person but I hope Markus knew what effect he'd had on so many by saving the club.

Oh I'm sure he did. I'm glad that people sang his name out whilst he was there with us and not just after his death.
