Patred, this is my latest exchange with customerservices@performgroup.com, with a copy to the Club. Believe me, I really have been polite through numerous complaints over many months but I damn near lost it on Saturday.

Here goes:

From Me to Them; October 23 – 3:10 pm GMT

I'm now beyond angry. Yet again I'm listening to the wrong commentary because you appear to have no idea of what you're doing. Mistake after mistake after mistake.

I've endeavoured to be polite with you but all I get is excuses, and - based on my correspondence with the Club the last time this happened - your last set of excuses were less than truthful.

I DO NOT WANT A STOCK REPLY TO THIS E-MAIL, OR AN UNTRUTHFUL RESPONSE LAYING THE BLAME SOMEWHERE ELSE. I WANT A PROPER ANSWER.

WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO TO PERMANENTLY FIX THIS INCOMPETENCE?

From Them to Me; October 23 – 3:31 pm GMT

Thank you for contacting.

I can confirm that the correct commentary is now playing.

Sorry for the inconvenience caused.

From Me to Them; October 23 – 3:38 pm GMT

No, I'm sorry but that's not good enough.

I want an explanation and some assurances that you're going to fix this permanently.

Time after time after time your service is subject to cut-outs, late starts, and even - repetitively - delivery of the incorrect feed. It's disgraceful.

Believe me, I'm far from alone in being sick and tired of the recurrent mistakes, the weak excuses and the all round incompetence.

Since then I have heard nothing - from either PerformGroup or the Club.

I think it's time we brought this to a head, but - as I said in an earlier thread - there's something that confuses me.

When I copied the Club (chairman@saintsfc.co.uk) about the screw up on October 9 I received a very pleasant reply on October 13 from a Jordan Sibley. He provided evidence that the screw up was with the Perform Group.

However, and this is the bit that confuses me, if the fault is with the Perform Group rather than locally, why is the other Club's commentary always available and working properly when we are receiving an incorrect feed - or no feed at all - through Saints Player?

I wrote to them on Saturday during the game. Got the same response as CanadaSaint: "I can confirm that the correct commentary is now playing." I emailed them back immediately saying that I did not need them to "confirm" that the correct commentary was playing because I already knew that. I was listening to it, FFS! I asked them to "confirm" to me that this problem (two weeks in a row) would not happen again. Surely they would have learned from the previous error and not do it again. You'd think so, but apparently not.

Normally read and not post. BUT!!!! I am currently in Australia and stayed up to listen. As everyone else my feed was good, 2 minutes before KO nothing, then after KO got Bournemouth!. Emailed Perform group (cc'd to Saints) and got a reply basically blaming my computer. I replied stating that was a cop out answer from them and have heard nothing since. Saints have not replied either.

That is, quite frankly, a disgraceful answer for them to give.

Next time something happens (no doubt this saturday) i'll be emailing them both again but will be telling them i've been in contact with Trading Standards. I suggest others do the same.

moan moan moan. i've had saintsplayer for several years now and by and large have no complaints.

It's not moan, moan, moan. I am happy with most of what SaintsPlayer offers. This is a specific moan: for two weeks in a row, they had to be told that they had connected Saints fans to the Bournemouth game, instead of the Southampton game. That's a crucial mistake, don't you think?

And not having the pre-game discussion and interviews, but starting their coverage two minutes before kick-off - that's a crucial mistake too, don't you think?

Don't let yourself be swayed by Dave Merro's dulcet tones carressing your eardrums with a whispering voice that even whispering Bob Harris on Old Grey Whistle Test would have been proud of .... nice!! His nuggets of Dave speak info, little gems of wisdom ... what they don't want to be doin now is .... ( why is never what they SHOULD be doing!!) ... only papers over the fact that we are paying for something that you can listen to on the radio, if you live locally for free .... yet we still end up listening to the wrong match, or have more pre/post match interviews etc about Bomo/Skatesmuff, even Eastleigh, Totton and Botley girl guides than Saints. So much for the exclusivity they tell us we are getting!!

Living overseas I wouldn't be without it, but that doesn't mean I'm happy at the shabby way we are being treated.

Cripes, think I might have to go to the archive section and give Dave a listening to, just to soothe my nerves!!

Exactly Dune. When I was a young lad, whiling away my time at one of Southampton's illustrious dotheboys halls ,an English master,

in an off topic moment,no doubt due to the nervous exhaustion caused by trying to make me,an 11 year old with a science bent, understand the precise necessity of being able to quote verbatim from Lady Precious Stream at some future time in my life, told me that you always get what you pay for was a rough definition of quality.I pay 4 euros a month for Saints Player, it's well worth it and the live commentary works well most of the time.

Yes, agreed.

But, let's say you paid a newsagent to deliver The Independent to your house each day, and on Thursday they delivered The Sun, would you point out the error? And if you did let them know, and on Friday they delivered the wrong paper again, would you resign yourself, or would you let them know again? Should the newsagent learn from the mistake and correct the problem, or should the error be ignored because it's only a bit of money that you're paying?

Read the post properly before jumping to your conclusions.

I have exchanged polite e-mails with them on at least six occasions before losing my patience last Saturday.

On the previous occasion (October 9) they responded by blaming the Club, whom I had copied on my e-mail. The Club then sent me copies of their angry e-mails to the Perform Group indicating that the excuse they had given me was a lie - the error hadn't originated with the Club at all but with the people at Perform.

And then they made exactly the same error that they'd made the previous week.

I'll display that "attitude" whenever I'm palmed off with a bullsh*t excuse by people I've paid to provide a service.

I'm surprised there's so much indignance on here.

The service provided is absolutely normal for any service which is a) a monopoly, and b) paid for in advance.

I had an interesting experience last Saturday. I was listening from a hotel room in Cotonou and the "live" commentary was at least 5 minutes behind the game. I read about Oxo's goal on here more than 5 minutes before he scored it. It did dispense with the "squeaky bum" time at the end. I already knew they wouldn't score in the 5 minutes added on before it even started.

yet you used to bang on and on..and on about saints booking fee when you don´t go to games.

Considering i'm going on Saturday i'm not doing a very good job "at not going to games". And i've had a moan about the booking fee.

Changing the subject here, but I was thinking of signing up to Saintsplayer and wondered if you can access it from your iPhone (be it via an app or if you went onto saintsplayer via the internet browser on it).

Nope, afraid not. Saintsplayer uses Adobe Flash and Apple and Adobe don't get on to say the least. You can't access and Flash player content on the IPhone.
