Chaplow for captain?

Just a thought - perhaps premature, but worthy of discussion. Chaplow is an articulate, hard working and skillful player that gets around all over the park. I've watched him - he talks to other players and likes to motivate. I think he could be a great Team Captain - better than Hammond who seems a bit...well...quiet, not commanding of the team and hardly sets the world alight with his very few interviews to date. Thoughts? Poll?

Just because he has a great work rate and gets all over the pitch, doesn't mean he's the best option for captain in fact his busy-ness probably means he's the worst option. From his position, and with his quality Fonte looks the best man for the job

Despite 2 managers thinking otherwise

Exactly, he obviously has the right qualities for a captain. However, it is good to see another midfielder communicating and motivating and Chaplow did a great job alongside Morgan on Sat, so Hammond looks like he'll struggle to even start let alone be captain.

I'm not so sure

My missus is from Preston, so hearing her families Dad & Brother's thoughts on Chaplow is quite interesting

The Preston fans absolutely hate him, and on more than 1 occassion he faked an injury to leave the field

That doesn't sound like a skipper to me

It matters not what previous managers think - if that was the case Chaplow would never play again if his previous manager had a say. Chaplow for me is the best and most likely choice because he would provide consistency in role potentially all the way through to the Prem. If he and Schneiderlin keep up their partnership even better still.

Surely Chaplow can be just as good a leader with or without the armband?

I assume they've spoken to the Preston Medical Staff to confirm that? Or did some flat cap wearing, Northern monkey post it on a PNE forum and it's now taken as gospel?

I would love him as captain, he's a box to box midfielder who drives the team forward. Hammond is a donkey who is only capable of passing 5 yards sideways, makes a couple of rash tackles here and there and can't shoot for sh*t. Chaplow also helps bring out the best in Schneiderlin, who has looked quality when playing with Chaplow.

In their opinion of course....they could just be talking out of their arses. Judge the player by what you see personally.
