Bit early to be panicing about being 4th from bottom me think.

We were always going to be there or there abouts, I dare say we will be in and out of the bottom 3 a few times before the end of the season.

P.S. Hoddle would be a great appointment. Wolves are falling apart without him.

No. It's just that you are a boring, tedious, obsessed and, frankly, quite a scary, freak.

Hmm, do you regret your part in blocking the appointment of Haddle. Are happy that your principles played a major part in our current predicament ?

Sleep soundly do you ?

to be fair..the position we were in.or with any prem team...no sane thinking man would appoint a league 1 manager ahead of an available glenn hoddle at that time....

and the reason it happened was because GH ws all set to come back, but was put off buy a very noisy but fantaical MINORITY. PS was not thought through and i blam Lowe for that.

He would have been better to appointed no -one at the time, explain why and start the hunt for a more suitable candidate !

Actually it wasnt anything to do with the fans, Hoddle has explained that himself.

It wasn't anything to do with Lowe, Lowe was quite happy to appoint him, Hoddle has explained that himself.

So before you for the 20th million time post complete ******** , at least post the facts.....oh and whilst we are on facts, even the very conservative SaintsForever had a majority poll on him not returning.

I feel sorry for the kids you teach

The only bad result out of four that affected us in this bunch of midweek games, so although not catastrophic, one team has leapfrogged us.

On to Saturday.

Away to Burnley looks tough, but our away form is good.

Charlton at home to Derby, could be dodgy for us, but Charlton have been shiyte.

Forest at home to Blackpool, so possibility of closing the gap.

Doncaster away at Palace, so should be no worries.

Norwich away at Reading so we could overhaul.

Watford at home to Coventry, so maybe a problem.

Not the best set of fixtures for us, but who knows.

Hey-ho.

Roeder must be on thin ice again now.

The derby win probably won him some time, at least with the fans.

I did watch the Norwich - Ipswich game and Norwich where much better than at SMS, not great but better. Not sure if that's just the derby atmosphere or just a one off. We could do with Reading calling back Lita at some point, don't really want him playing anymore for Norwich.

I won't sleep soundly until I know who Haddle is. I also want to know if I played a part in blocking his appointment. It's only fair.

The same Police dealing with the Spurs supporters will go back over old footage of Saints crowds to see who protested and blocked his appointment...If you are one of The Motley Crew, you will be held in Cuba as well and interogated by a Freind of Mr Hoddle who is physic.....So Pc Dixon of Dock Green told me.

Yes, but not everyone is accounted for, so admit your past crime in relation to Glenn at the earliest and apparently they let you keep the orange one and a pink one, for your arrival pictures in the uk.

I was kind of hoping for electric blue, to be honest. But still, it's good to hear that Glennforce is such an enlightened body of men.

Both of those teams are truly awful. Without Lita and Smith playing' date=' it might as well have been a Blue Square South game.[/quote']

One of the benefits of having no particularily decent players is that we are not dependant on anyone. Hearing from people who are itk about Watford, they feel that if they loose Smith they are ****ed.

I'm always fairly optimistic if you take one game at a time!!!

The problem comes when you step back and look at things in a realistic manner, because then all of a sudden it ll starts to look pretty desperate!!!!

IMHO I don't really think we will "turn things around", but instead we'll just plod along and only survive if the three teams below us just perform worse than us, or if another team goes into freefall.

PS Any press over in Holland about our Dutch Total Football attacking and exciting revolutionary coaching set up with shades of how Cruyff used to ply?????

They picked up on Dean Gorré joining the coaching staff but otherwise they don't really care about the CCC.

You may recall in the week running up to our great escape, I mentioned that I would be seeing Dave Hoddle(Glenn's uncle) and John Radford whilst I was in Bishops Stortford.

We did meet up at the Bell in Stansted, although JR was only there for 20 mins or so, I did have a 2 hour conversation with Dave Hoddle.

Inevitably the subject of Glenn, Rupert and Southampton came up.

In the press there are stories of Rupert replacing NP with Glenn, or Sam Allardyce.

So let's look at it, for what it's worth, thanks to Dave's input, I think we can dismiss both of these rumours.

Rupert and Glenn are not so close as you would imagine..

1..It still rankles Rupert the way Glenn left Southampton to join Spurs.

2..Glenn blames Lowe entirely, for the breakdown of his return here, prior to the Sturrock appointment.

Yes, I know that fans resistance to Hoddle was blamed, and still is. But that's a myth, Rupert made the decision not to proceed, and since when has fan pressure influenced him? One or two directors voiced their nervousness of the appointment, but again since when did Lowe let that worry him?

Rupert's decision was made entirely on a medical report, that still to this day, is very relevant to Glenn's ability to perform the

day to day duties as team manager/coach.

3...Glenn Hoddle's only became aware that he hadn't got the appointment came when he saw the pictures of Sturrock on the pitch at SMS on TV. He immediately rang his agent to find out what was occurring, his agent then rang SFC to speak to Lowe.

A row ensued, and Rupert was accused of betraying Glenn. He retorted that he (agent), and his client," were fine examples of loyalty considering the way he left in the first place"

4...Since then, the only contact that Glenn and Rupert has had, according to his uncle, have been at a couple of official

functions. Both have been strained.

Thanks Patred.

Without having a go at Patred, that above post is total ******** (And certainly not sticking up for dalek). Hoddle was appointed manager of Wolves way before Sturrock was appointed the Saints manager.

I think you may need to re-read the article. It clearly mentions the alleged possibility of Hoddle replacing the then recently sacked Wigley. The time Patred mentions was after WGS left, so nine months (roughly) before that.

First ...Your getting all this dates out of context, the ugly article is in reply to the rumours, at the time, of either Hoddle or Bic Sam replacing Nigel Pearson .

HOPE THIS HELPS.............

TIMETABLE OF MANAGERIAL MERRY GO ROUND IN 2004

Hoddle to replace Strachan.

He actually meet Glenn and his agent at a resturant in Marlow, Buckinghamshire (Compleat Angler) BEFORE WGS left this club earlier than planned.

'Fan pressure' was blamed for that deal breaking down .. THAT TIME

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/s/southampton/3481379.stm

Wigley was appointed on the same date as that article, as a stop gap

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/s/southampton/3485633.stm

Wigley replaced !! by

Sturrock..instead of the still out of work Glenn Hoddle..FANS FAULT AGAIN APPARENTLEY...

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/2374189/Southampton-go-for-Sturrock-after-Hoddle-backs-off.html

AND 7 MONTHS LATER

Hoddle joined WOLVES

Absolutley - Sorry! (And as i said on original post, i wasnt having a go at you)

Don't ask me why, but i only ever remember him being linked to a return once and the week we were all waiting for an announcement from the club he joined Wolves. I forgot how many managers we went through - any way, my fault.

Oh, definitely. He's a touch of class in their side, but unfortunately hasn't enough pace to make it in the PL properly.

That was the reason.

Did he tell you that himself? Not that I'm a dyed-in-the-wool cynic, but I do seem to recall you cobbling together a fabulous (in every sense of the word) story about Lowe appointing Sturrock purely to show the board how wrong they'd been to reject Hoddle as manager, then finding that the ploy backfired and we ended up relegated. Just wondering.

Southampton go for Sturrock after Hoddle backs off

By John Ley

Last Updated: 8:16PM GMT 03 Mar 2004

The ABH campaign - Anyone But Hoddle - appeared to have succeeded on the south coast last night after Paul Sturrock, the Plymouth Argyle manager, entered discussions over terms to replace Gordon Strachan at Southampton.

Glenn Hoddle revealed yesterday morning that he had decided to withdraw from the list of candidates for the St Mary's vacancy because of the opposition to his potential appointment among some of the board members at Southampton, rather than that of the supporters.

The news that Hoddle was being considered for a return to the club where he had a successful previous period in charge angered many Southampton fans, some of whom had claimed they would cancel their season tickets if the former England manager was appointed.

Hoddle believed that the opposition among fans was not total, but decided, with good grace, to pull out from the job to avoid a split among the club's directors.

The news cleared the way for one of the most highly rated managers in the Football League to be interviewed for the post made vacant when Strachan resigned last month.

All that stands in the way of one Scot replacing another is an agreement on a contract and compensation for Second Division leaders Plymouth.

News that Sturrock, 47, was almost certain to take the post emerged after Hoddle had explained why he had decided to look elsewhere for a return to football after his sacking from Tottenham Hotspur in September.

"It's been the toughest decision I've made," admitted Hoddle. "Over the last three or four days I've come to the conclusion that it's the best decision for three parties - the club, [the chairman] Rupert Lowe and myself. It's about what's right for the club.

"The one thing a manager has to have is the board right behind him. You know you're not going to have every single fan but you need the board 100 per cent and it was evident that wasn't going to evolve.

"There were fans who were anti me going back but it was a small minority. I had friends at the Everton game and out of 32,000 there were about 1,700 who stood up and were against me. I don't feel bruised. I would've had a great big bruise if there were 32,000 who stood up against Everton.

"It gets reported that there was a big demonstration but quite frankly it would've been a great challenge on the football front."

Hoddle revealed he had received 'four or five' offers of work, including the Nigeria national team post, and he added: "I'd love to get back into the game. I've had some offers but they haven't been right.

"I really feel that after just six games into the season at Tottenham I've still got the energy. There's a lot of motivation and energy inside me. In the short period of just over 10 years I've had all sorts of jobs, from England to Swindon. That's a good range of experience.

"I'd like to get back in, preferably in the Premiership. There are challenges. I think I've got a wide span, including going abroad. You look at things and make a decision.

"I'm relatively young and at 46 I still feel I've got unfinished business and there's a real energy to get back in and do well."
