hypochondriac Posted 7 February, 2014 Share Posted 7 February, 2014 I see he looks like running for another four year term. How did this blatant corruption come about? How is it that the same man can be head of world football for so many years? I don't understand the process whereby he is continually re-elected and his challengers step down once he decides to go for another term because they know they have no chance of winning. When do we reckon FIFA will get the same kind of reforms as the IOC? When will there be work to sort out the corruption, make common sense decisions and restrict presidents to two terms each? Leadership for me starts at the top and with FIFA utterly corrupt no wonder there are complaints throughout the rest of football. What a thoroughly depressing situation: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/26086940 http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/25818772

hypochondriac Posted 7 February, 2014 Author Share Posted 7 February, 2014 (edited) It wont happen unless they turn on him/the system from within he acts like a president of a major nation What exactly are they voting for when they vote him in? Is the majority really that corrupt that they don't welcome any alternative? It's an incredible situation where the majority of football followers despise the person in charge and the only thing they can do is hope that age catches up with him! Or do they not care? Would be genuinely interested in world views because it did seem a few years ago that it was our FA against the rest. Sort of makes you wish that you had a time machine and could go back to the creation of FIFA and kept it accountable (and maybe kept the FA in charge of things. I wouldn't be perfect but would be better than now.) When was the last time we had a world cup outside of Europe that was actually decent? Korea was OK but South Africa was terrible and you just know Russia and Qatar are going to be disasters. It makes me very sad that decisions are never taken for the good of the game. Like there HAS to be a member from from one of the HOME nations FA's as either president or vice president of FIFA. obviously, the no.2 role and probably holds no real power I think the power of the premier league is also resented by many not so many years ago, Platini himself was gobbing off about the spending power of the prem. Gone VERY quiet now PSG are throwing cash around
hypochondriac Posted 7 February, 2014 Author Share Posted 7 February, 2014 I struggle to think of any other major business or organisation that wields this much power yet has so much obvious corruption that is seemingly ignored outside of the UK. You are probably right in that there will have to be some major scandal. I was hoping for something with these corruption people but nothing yet. Wurzel Posted 7 February, 2014 Share Posted 7 February, 2014 How is it that the same man can be head of world football for so many years? He is democratically elected.
aintforever Posted 7 February, 2014 Share Posted 7 February, 2014 It is a joke, he is just propped up by FIFA reps of equally corrupt sh!t-hole countries who are all on the gravy train themselves. Things that are considered corrupt and a scandal over here are just the norm in many cultures.

Kingsbridge Saint Posted 8 February, 2014 Share Posted 8 February, 2014 Football is so important to so many. It would be a shame if his term of office were to be remembered for the wrong reasons. Only takes one idiot.
Kingsbridge Saint Posted 8 February, 2014 Share Posted 8 February, 2014 Unbelievable. Hasn't the bloke done enough damage to the world game?
Saint in Paradise Posted 8 February, 2014 Share Posted 8 February, 2014 Perhaps he wants to die in office so IF any of the Alleged corruption was found to be true then he won't be alive to cop the flak. Please note I said IF and Alleged I am not inferring he is guilty of anything.
sunrise Posted 8 February, 2014 Share Posted 8 February, 2014 He's just an old, English hating **** who should bugger off under the nearest available stone. He's had long enough at FIFA but like a dictator he will try to stay in power.

hypochondriac Posted 8 February, 2014 Author Share Posted 8 February, 2014 It is attitudes like that which make the rest of the world so anti-Uk when it comes to football. What is untrue about the claim? I'm not an expert on football but it does seem that Blatter is blatantly corrupt and no one in certain countries seems to care. That's actually true, these people don't like the corruption being exposed. That's why the Panorama programme was met with such hostility instead of being welcomed.
