Our team for the future

It’s very clear what our plans are regarding buying the best of youth and selling them on for a good profit.

I actually love the idea as we can already see what the team could look like in 3/4 years time.

Of course some will become too good to remain with us but go with it :)

GK - Wright (Don’t know too much about him)

LB - Small (England’s future left back)

RB Tino - (Future England right back)

CB - Salisu (Unbelievable player and gonna be worth 80m soon)

CB - Simeu/Armitage (Signing on Monday)

CM - Kegs (Skilful player)

CM - Anjorin (if only we get him in the summer)

LM - Dibling (15 years old playing U23’s, thinks he’s the next Messi ha ha)

RM - Doyle (Brilliant prospect)

CF - Broja (Think we will get him in the summer)

CF - Ballard (Shearer like striker)

Sub - Shane Long ;)

Anyone else at the club that you think could be a future prospect?

Love your optimism but football doesn't work like that. Players don't always hit the heights expected and don't always develop at the same pace. We do now have some excellent prospects but we are still a small club in a big pond.

Simeu seems a strange one going out on loan to a club that far down the pyramid. I'm  sure the club expected more from him since signing.

As a fan that's what you dream of to be honest, but sadly that's never going to be the reality.

We'll spend some $$ on established players to fit around the likes of Salisu, Tino etc - and then continue to try and snare some Chelsea and City prospects. You'd hope that we'd use the academy to baulk out the squad once there's more quality coming through, which it does seem to have now. I like Ballard, think he'll turn into an AMC rather than a striker.

No, the likes of Salisu, Livramento and Broja will be long gone before the 15 and 16 year olds are ready for the first team

Absolute pie in the sky.

This is even more insane that the old "here's the English team for the world cup in ten years time" that you'd see in the papers, when they would get maybe one or two players right. Danny Cadamartari and Matt Jansen becoming England legends etc.

There goes my "How many of Our Team Of The Future will be in the England World Cup team in 10 years?" thread.

I could have run it in parallel with the "How many seconds before someone points out the non English players in the How many of Our Team Of The Future will be in the England World Cup team in 10 years time sweepstake" thread.

Ah well, instead I'll think about the England legend Jansen would have been, had he joined us. 😊

Matt Jansen was a legitimately brilliant prospect, to be fair. It was terrible the way his career ended, when he was on the cusp of breaking into the England team.

Bit of a Sliding Doors moment. If he hadn't pulled out of making his England debut in the lead up to the 2002 World Cup with illness, he would've almost certainly made the final squad. Instead, Sven picked an extra defender, and Jansen had to make alternative plans for the summer - which ended up with him crashing a scooter in Italy and suffering brain injuries that his career never recovered from.

Cadamartari was dogshit, mind.
