Found this on YouTube, presumably put on there by his son.

A great watch.

I was at many of the games. It features  not only one of our greats but captures a different era - state of the pitches, police dogs barking at the home game with Chelsea (1975 or thereabouts).

Also includes the WBA Cup replay goals which I thought had been lost ( I don’t recall seeing them anywhere else).

Great,great player.

One of the best looking shirts we've had over the years.

Hairstyles courtesy of Trevor Mitchell who sadly passed away in 2020.

Nostalgia certainly, happy days indeed when we used to score for fun.

Thanks for the that. I thought footage from the 3-0 FA Cup replay win at Chelsea was lost to history

What a great watch, brought back so many memories, a reminder of the pitches they used to play on, just imagine what the current lot of prem players would do if asked to play on those pitches!! We were so lucky watching those players, some true greats, some superb teams, how did we not win any more trophy's? We really did have some great sides, played some fast attacking football, and the players actually cared. Yes we did have some bad results, bad runs, but overall Happy Memories , unlike the last season!!

superb thanks for reviving the memories, I would be standing right behind the Archers goal in those days. Imagine modern footballers having to play that standard on those pitches!! The way he took the ball around the keeper, somethng you dont see that much of nowadays.

I think that Mick Channon must have been an absolute nightmare to play against, and privileged that I got to see it.  Intelligent and brave player, his runs and positioning were brilliant, nine times out of ten right place right time.  Complete forward for Saints and England.  What price in the modern game?

Thanks for this. Channon was my first football hero. I used to walk past his house just off Midanbury Lane on my way to school. The guy scored goals for fun. His athleticism was off the scale. Was gutted when he left for Man City but delighted when he came back to us for his golden Autumn of matches. Great memories.

I was at a work event in Ascot a few years ago and Channon had some horses running.

The person chaperoning went up to Micky to see if he would speak with us and it was clear he didn't want to.  I told him I was a massive Saints fan and loved watching him play and he immediately spent 5 to 10 minutes chatting with me in his Wiltshire burr.

Absolute legend

Seemed unthinkable that he’d leave us but when he did Lawrie pulled off a masterstroke bringing Phil Boyer in.

Strangely at the time  I wasn’t keen to resign him from City, viewing it as a bit of a backward step. How I was wrong. He was brilliant a second time round for another few seasons.

Definitely released him too soon. Doubt the club would have done this had they known Keegan wanted out.

My goodness, that’s amazing! The WBA replay was only my second game - the first being the Blackpool game in the previous round - so to see the goals again was actually a little emotional. Was an STH from the following season so wonder just how many of these goals I saw live.  He’ll always be my favourite Saint.

I think it is arguable that Channon came back from City an even better player than when he left, certainly in terms of his overall contribution to the side. Channon being let go might have been a contributory factor to Keegan leaving, although that was mainly down to his big falling out with Lawrie. I will never forget coming back from an evening game at Swansea and a jag with the registration KK7 speeding past on the M4 at about 100 miles an hour. Channon did of course join up with Keegan for a brief spell at Newcastle.
