Saintsfan79 Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago Anyone know which pub will be the liveliest and open in the morning? Cheers 🍻
Spitz Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago Being in Croatia currently I thought I would take advantage of the Saints Play ‘International’ match day £10 video pass to watch the game, only to find the you can only purchase the annual pass at £180! Seems to be possible for other games, just not this one. Have any other folks currently abroad had any luck buying a pass just for this game?

It's live on ITV so if you have a VPN you should be able to watch it on their player, if not I'd imagine finding a stream will be easier than usual. 2
sotonric Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago 1 hour ago, trousers said: Yep, agree. I've been feeling for a while now that all this whipped up hype by the club's media department could back fire on us. The best approach, in my humble opinion, would have been to treat the build up like any other game and leave all the emotion stuff until the players take to the pitch. Just feels a tad manufactured to me, but maybe that's just me being a grumpy old git 😁 The 'right' approach might only be possible with hindsight. If the club did as you suggest and the team went out and didn't perform, everyone would be rightly on their backs for not recognising the importance of the match to the fans. With owners / senior management that lots of fans still have considerable misgivings over, a new manager, and lots of new players, I think it's important the club signals to fans that they do recognise the added importance to us of beating that lot.
Suhari Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago Off to Montreal tomorrow. Aiming to get to Heathrow early and hopefully catch the game in a bar. Really excited. Looking forward to seeing some of the new guys. 1
Dr Who? Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago Hate this game. It is only good if you win. Love the build up, love the pure hate that comes with it. Love the simmered down banter now I’m older. Still we must win, and I fear it will end all level. But really, not a flipping scoobie which way it will go! 1

Yeah, fair point 👍🏻
RedArmy Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago All the players need to know is that losing is not an option, no excuses. All the fans need to know is that they need to play their part, no excuses. 3

If we were playing them in a month I'd be much more confident; once the new guys have bedded in. It's not a 'must win' in the context of promotion. It IS a 'want to win, so, so badly' given the opposition! Bloody glad football is back. 1

Also I hate to break it this on the eve of a derby game which is only 12 hours away, but we are not that good atm. This game does just seem to be coming at the wrong time. They are really happy with their start and they will not fear us! nearly lost to a poor Wrexham side drew with a team that lost at home Blackburn today lost at home to 10 men Probably our best performance was at out of sorts Ipswich. All one can hope is that it clicks tomorrow! Edited 7 hours ago by Dr Who? 1
Dark Munster Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago 3 hours ago, LGTL said: Absolutely. I still remember the last 10 minutes at Fratton in 2019. After being silent the whole game, they decided to sing for the last 10 minutes to show everyone how they're just the bestest and they didn't care about being beaten by big Southampton. Fucking freaks, I'd take two wins against them even if it meant losing every other game this season. Derbies aren't for everyone, and they certainly aren't for their small time support.

All one can hope is that it clicks tomorrow! Pompey would have looked at video from our games and think this is sn easy win. That's why thier calling fif aggression as we don't deal well at all with any sort of attack in air, through mid and defence or wing. Even a golden assisted a throw the length of pitch. In reality we don't have a working team yet and we don't know when a run of wins will come. The best ace we hold is no one knows what the new players will do tomorrow. Will they all play, will it be new tactics, will the keeper turn up, is there a goal scorer, will we continue slow football. Saints could bore Pompey to death. The only way we can win is to not play as we have been and surprise the fans and the opposition. Forget the fact we are on paper the biggest team but that's irrelevant as it hasn't worked so far. I still have recuring nightmares that Saints will play the same way as v Stoke. I just don't think we can change style and tactics one game on to the biggest game of the season. Bore draw 0-0 would be better than a loss. 1

Containment has been our main game plan at home. High press means we get caught on the break. Let's hope its something different v Pompey.
