I'm hoping that the players can somehow sort themselves out and bloody win as living in Fareham will be even more insufferable if not! Due to the rubbish bubble rules I will be watching in a local alehouse (saints shirt on of course!) with fingers firmly crossed.

Good luck to those who are making the trip; having visited in 2004 & 2005 I know it's not the nicest of away ends out there!

If you were under 40 and wanted to know what my generation and older talk about when they describe what the poorer Division 1 grounds used to look like in the 1970s and 1980s, the Milton end at the Fish Shed is it.

At least after getting walloped there, the fanbase doesn’t have to pretend to support the likes of Flynn Downes, Ryan Manning and Nathan Wood any longer and get stuck in. The more piss takes the better. Give them some of the misery they’ve enforced on the fans.

Exactly, give them some proper shit and make them have a cry baby fit at the fans like all 3 have done before. That will hopefully prevent them from being picked any more.

Gimps will say, “you wouldnt say that to their face”

I like to think we still have a few fans who fucking would say it to their faces.

Less inbreds noticed in the 70’s though.

Be careful, Nathan Wood might tell us to fuck off again , don't want to hurt his feelings

At least with the midweek game, it means less time for all of their Portsmyths to get an airing.

Wonder how many times we will hear of:

- the mythical strike breakers

- how they sent us down in 2005

- the list is endless

Agree with TSP - even if we can only get 45 mins out of Romeu it’s him and Downes starting there in central midfield unless Charles can start. Maybe rotate Oriol and Charles. Not a game for Jandar. Have to play 4231 and get Fellows and Scienza playing wingers.

But Tonda won’t. Unless Sheff Utd score 4 or 5 and he becomes. Untenable.

Unless Romeu has improved dramatically over the last few weeks, he won’t be anywhere near starting unfortunately, best we can hope is Charles is fit enough for over an hour.

True, maybe the other way around, get 60 from Charles and 30 from Oriol. Rest Stewart midweek, see if we can get 60-70 mins Sunday. Last time Stewart played 3 in a week he broke.

Downes and Romeu to clumsily barge into skates players in the first 15 minutes and carry a yellow the rest of the game whilst doing nothing but pass backwards and sideways.

I’ve seen nothing to suggest that Jander and Bragg have left mental strength and that’s the only thing that really matters here.

Seriously doubt SR will give shit about the implications of this fixture, just another game to them.

They seem to not give a shit about the utter shit show they are serving up so why would this bother them..

Just watched The Big Match Revisited on ITV4, and they were showing Pompey away at Millwall.  I never knew they used to have a red kit with white stripes.

I actually think strangely that they really care about perception and how much they are liked.

The criticism of SR is simply they’re not very good at making important decisions, keep trying to be clever and don’t learn from their mistakes. That’s it.

I agree. I think it's their arrogance making the same mistakes time and time again that has lost them the support of the fans, getting decisions wrong so often and so badly it's sometimes hard to believe they're not doing it on purpose

Love watching Big Match revisited,so interesting seeing how the game has changed. 7-30 kick offs, 10minute half time, linesmen coming in and standing on the goal line, pass abcks for keepers to pick up, wonderful the fans behind the goal etc etc.

If we lose this game it should be the catalyst for mass protests.

It won't though because our fanbase is too soft.. no doubt half the away end at Fratton will be players friends and families clapping them off no matter the result

So find a buyer who will pay 200m for a mid to lower Championship team, then Im sure we all would be behind you to try to get them out, but I suggest that the majority of fans understand that all the protests do is ruin any atmposphere there is and make our position worse during the game. Add to that how it also ruins the enjoyment of going to a game. Doncaster home when the fans were fighting with each other was as low as ay time I have felt watching Saints

Interesting perspective, is your approach to go to the match and act like everything is ok? Cheer the team , accept the defeats?

Past generations of my family going back to pre-war used to say a true fan sticks with their team through thick and thin, they need you most when they are struggling, but it feels different in this era.

This game is all about mental strength. Charles and Romeu should be nowhere near it. Shea needs to be protected and eased back in, and Romeu is finished. I'd leave Downes and Manning out, they will crumble. Same with Azaz.

Stephens defo gives a shit so for all his faults, he needs to play. Bragg, Matsuki and Jander should be able to boss the midfield. I also think Archer has the needle at the moment, he's played enough big games not to be intimidated, and will relish the atmosphere.

Home advantage is massive for them, as it should be. However they too are in trouble. Bishop has scored twice this season, no Murphy or Lang, and crucially no wingers to speak of. So the ace tactic of putting crosses in, won't be so easy for them.

Fellows and Leo will give them the shits as will Robinson. A lot will depend on how robust the ref is.

A defeat is on the cards obviously, but it certainly isn't a formality. Derby matches are always weird.

2004 was chaos, 2005 passed without too much incident and 2019 was a cake walk.

The catalyst for the introduction of the bubbles was actually the effects of them coming to SMS, mainly the cup game and the infamous battle of the car garage. For all their myths, they’ve come unstuck coming to SMS far more then we have going to Fratton.

Thats because we never show up there apparently 😂

As opposed to them who came with a film crew following them around all day for a documentary and went on about how "scummers got nuffin"

I can't see Charles having any meaningful involvement, given the amount of time he's been out, and I don't want Romeu anywhere near the team for this. Since he's come back his time on the pitch has barely added up to an hour, in which we've conceded three goals, two of which he was directly at fault for. Whatever your opinion of Downes and Jander, it pretty much has to be them at the moment.

It should be the sort of game players relish. Into the lions pit, proper warrior spirt when everything is against you. Unfortunately our bunch of pussies will bottle it and shit themselves

Who was it that went off pitch down tunnel for a dump then banned pitch? They could all take turns to leave pitch at Fratton during the game. Or we could just chuck toilet roll on pitch 70s style.

Could chuck bog roll on pitch tomorrow,  players may get tge message.

I came across that not long ago and I forgot just how bizarre it was. Walking through a city with a film crew and then bragging that you're 'unopposed'.

Imagine if our fans did something as daft as like that...

Very weird,

Another thing that's weird is that whenever there is a post on a neutral facebook page, like away supports ones or the casual sites, about them, there are loads of them posting about how great they are, when there is a post about us there are always loads of posts from them about how embarassing the post is, what a joke we are, it's proper weird, obsessive, inferiority complex behaviour.
