Where are you going to? Just bought my train ticket leaving London 22:15 (got a super off peak just in case).

Even if it goes to pens its over before 9 surely

I want to get a Portsmouth train from Waterloo: the Victoria line would do but is incredibly slow. Do you know off hand the best and quickest way to get back to Waterloo?

Now to negotiate the complexities of British rail fares: has anyone got any tips? Splitting journeys, using a travel card etc? I rarely go to London but some of you do and might be able to help. Cheers.

An off peak return to Waterloo with your railcard would be £32.35 and you can travel on pretty much any train.

Advance singles would work out cheaper but you are tied to the booked train.

An off peak 1st class return would be £53.30 and would probably avoid the local mutants headed to Stoke

Prices are from/to Havant

Many thanks, and particularly for the reminder..

Last train back to Devon leaves Paddington at 20.25. Too expensive to stay in London with the marathon the next day. Let’s just just hope the price of fuel drops in the next two weeks!!

£64 for Saturday night at Reading Caversham Bridge- 15 minutes walk from the station

If you have a flexible return train ticket you can break your journey.

Another North Devonian here... I'll be staying with relatives in North-East Hampshire... Wouldn't even contemplate getting back to Devon the same day 🙂👍🏻

For reference this is how tickets were sold for the Play Off Final

Tickets will be available in the below order. They are sold 1 ticket per qualifying supporting number.

  • Saturday 18th May: 11:00am - Season Ticket Holders who have attended 2+ away matches in the 23/24 season.

  • Saturday 18th May: 12:30pm - Season Ticket Holders who have attended 1+ away matches in the 23/24 season.

  • Sunday 19th May: 09:30am –Season Ticket Holders

  • Monday 20th May: 09:30am – All 2023/24 Paid Members who have attended 1+ home or away match in the 23/24 season.

  • Monday 20th May: 11:00am – All 2023/24 Paid Members.

  • Monday 20th May: 12:30pm – Supporters who have attended 1+ home or away match in the 23/24 season.

  • Monday 20th May: 2:00pm – Supporters with a booking history since 2021/22 season.

A booking history refers to any men’s first team competitive fixture.

Season Ticket holder refers to either 2023/24 or 2024/25. All Season Ticket Holders will be guaranteed a ticket, should they buy within their purchase window.

They're selling the tickets almost a month after the game?

It's definitely a novel approach!

For those going by train, I expect SWR will run some special services , they are just so slow at announcing it, i remember for the play off final they only confirmed a few days before but ran some trains direct from central to Waterloo not stopping,  engineering work might make it tricky but hopefully they can do that again even on diverted route. Slightly longer journey time not a problem when you have a few cans to get through. I've emailed them to ask.

I hope the club get the ticketing system sorted this time so you don’t have to keep flicking between SFC and Wembley if you want to buy multiple seats in different age categories

For the playoff final it was so laboured and the seats I had identified in a group kept being sold in the time in between

Not sure but I've seen that image shared quite a bit,  our end should make the occasion,  looking forward to it

We're going to treat this like our cup final with yellow and blue everywhere, balloons, flags etc and City will half fill their end and barely make a noise.  Can't believe the club shop aren't selling the cup shirts anymore.   There's still time for people to get their fake ones off DHgate or whatever and get it delivered in time.  Otherwise, I guess there's the normal away kit of yellow and blue stripes people can wear

Don't think so. I looked yesterday and they were quoting between 28 Apr and 05 May for delivery.

I normally just get a visitors oyster card and put £15 on it when at Waterloo.  The all day travel card is about £20 for underground.  The problem with working out the best rout or cheapest on underground is that when I went to Spurs once I did that but coming back 2 of the stations were closed.  So ended up paying £5 extra to go a longer route.

I think the oyster card is just pay as you travel, as long as you touch card at start and finish each route. May need to register for card and get it sent in post unless can do at Waterloo.

Baker looks line is very busy and one change at end.

I've parked at Harrow and only 2 stops to Wembley,  also Harrow and Wealdstone fc plus the none leaque other side Wembley normally do parking book in advance and just get a point,  burger in club house.

If you order one that has the quickest shipping date and then hassle them immediately to ship it, it should get there in time.  It may not but there's a fair chance.  It's only £11 or so and If it does arrive a day or so late, you still have one for the final.😜

Contactless bank/credit card is exactly the same as oyster card I think.

yup it is, i have no idea why anyone buys a rail card or oyster anymore as they're not worth spending money on

Yep. Pretty sure it has been for a long time. Memories of using my card at Hillingdon before the league cup final wondering why people were queuing for the ticket machine.

Only advantage of Oyster is if you have any form of Railcard (eg. Senior, Friends & Family etc) you can link it to the Oyster and get 33% off.

That’s worth knowing, thank you.
