And has Wotte says, we have Morgan and Wotton as cover. Even if we had have got a loan player in. i doubt it would have been a centre midfielder. alpine_saint Posted 30 March, 2009 Share Posted 30 March, 2009 er we do still have players that can fill that position Alps... I reckon it would only take one more injury to our starting 11, especially the likes of Seijs, Saga or Davis, and our relegation is sealed. And the immobile Wotton ?I'm sure Wotton has something to offer in terms of experience and driving those around him but not sure he'd cover the same amount of ground as Gillett. Chez Posted 30 March, 2009 Share Posted 30 March, 2009 Huge loss. Along with Saeijs, Gillett has been our best performer in recent weeks. He has basically been covering the whole of the centre midfield on his own. Losing him is going to upset the whole balance of the side. I think Wotte needs to rethink the centre of midfield as neither Wotton nor Schneiderlin are capable of doing the same job. I think having McGoldrick at the head of the diamond is going to have to go.

I thought the f^cker had not played any part in it.Surely one of the most ridiculous signings in our history.Delgado and Perry Groves both came to us with injuries but at least there was some sort of pedigree in case they ever regained fitness. Channon's Sideburns Posted 30 March, 2009 Share Posted 30 March, 2009 As we are talking about Pulis at the moment, I was told something at the weekend - the source I can't reveal (as you would expect) but apparently Surman, Lallana, Pulis are regularly out on the lash in Bournemouth most Thursday and Friday nights. I can't verify this any further but to be honest it would seem to tally with their performances lately.. I know the whole 'should they or shouldn't they go out' routine has been played out on here numerous times..but if they ARE doing this regularly it's no wonder we're in the sh1te...wheres the professional pride FFS? We still seem to have the same culture problem - why the hell aren't the club reining them in?
eelpie Posted 30 March, 2009 Share Posted 30 March, 2009 So, we wasted money on nonentities who cannot cut it, while our rivals have taken on some very useful loanees to ensure they are not relegated. And we don't have adequate cover for the run in. Gillett is going to be a huge loss. Our player strategy this season has been a shambles. Lowe out. Wilde out. AndyNorthernSaints Posted 30 March, 2009 Share Posted 30 March, 2009 This is really bad news as Gillett has been our best midfielder recently and the only player who gets stuck in and tackles. I don't think Saints have a replacement in the squad. Wotton is too slow to make a tackle, Surman and Schiederlin can't tackle. Saints have to get a loan player in now or we're fooked. TBF I think Wotte came in with the right intentions - but there seems to be a big problem at our club. The lead should come from the top - I'm not getting at Lowe here particularly because it comes under Wilde's remit. Wotte I think has now had the enthusiasm beaten out of him for some reason which is sad. I think (had he been in place from the beginning) we may well have had a different season. AndyNorthernSaints Posted 30 March, 2009 Share Posted 30 March, 2009 Just read Wotte's qoute on OS that Wotton did well when coming on as sub versus Blackpool? Now i've never been a fan of Wotton's and have not seen him play well at any game i've been to so i decided to just watch him for about 15 minutes in the second half. He was shouting alot to players which is ok but he was so slow he could not get near the ball for long periods of the game. His passing on the few times he got the ball was poor and apart from a few headers, miss tackles and shouting at team mates including an arguement with Seijis he was never in the game. Other posters rated his performance on the post match thread and along with Wotte obviously see something i have missed?????

saintsforlife7 Posted 30 March, 2009 Share Posted 30 March, 2009 Thought Gillett was one of our best players lately, certainly my vote for player of the month, but pleas, not Wotton, as poster above mentioned he is so slow and canot get near the ball in a defensive sense, would make much more sense to play Morgan in there

Chez Posted 30 March, 2009 Share Posted 30 March, 2009 Wotton is the only replacement. Not that I rate him, but who else can tackle? Gillet covered a lot of ground and won the ball. We could be in big trouble without him. Will need Schneiderlin to play very, very well. OR, maybe play Liptak and move James into midfield? I like you have seen very little of Liptak, but what I have seen of him he is a giant cumbersom CB and I wouldn't want him at full back

Window Cleaner Posted 30 March, 2009 Share Posted 30 March, 2009 (edited) why on earth did we sign a player with a broken foot? Complete stupidity and I said so at the time. Are Stoke still going to pay his wages seeing as its the same injury? Most players get over it fairly swiftly and get fit and then play football again. Pulis seems to be suffering from latter day Owenpahars syndrome, nothing heals up as expected or if it does something else breaks whilst it's happening. Pulis is a football manager's son, perhaps he played through far too many injuries in the little leagues just to please his dad.Now he has no recovery powers left in him. Happens all the time, if I had a euro for every kid I've seen destroyed by over enthusiastic parents I'd move to the Bahamas.
