Season ticket prices next season

I've seen a couple of posts on here from people saying they hope that season ticket prices next year are cut to League 1 levels. However there is teh counter argument that the quickest way out of League 1 is to maintain a Championship level wage bill as Leicester have done. I know it's going to be tricky to go for an instant return to the Championship with a 10 point penalty but Leicester would be fighting for automatic promotion.

For reference season ticket prices for a selection of mid table League 1 teams for next season (all full prices rather than family discounts or early bird deals):

Oldham - £303

Bristol Rovers - £300

Colchester - £304

Walsall - £325

Stockport - £322

Leyton Orient - £320

So how much would you be willing to pay for a season ticket next year? Would you pay over the odds for League 1 football to help the club get back on it's feet or will you be expecting to be paying the same as you would for any mid table League 1 side?

If we are still about next season (the vibes I am getting are that we will find a buyer) the club needs to get back to living within its means.

Anyone who thinks season tickets at £250 or match tickets at £15 are going to be disappointed.

I suspect season ticket price around £400 (before any concessions) and match tickets (again before concessions) at £20 and £22 depending on your seat.

As a teen I'm currently paying £290 i think & have 1 more year left as a paying teen. I'd happily pay that in League 1 considering the fact that It's already a bonus for me that Saints allow me to keep paying teen prices up until I'm 20 rather than charging adult prices from 18 which i guess they should be doing really.

Going on those prices above, assuming they are adult prices i'd expect the price of a teen to be nearer £200. If this is the case then I'd gladly donate the £90 or so that I've saved to the club anyhow.

Those figures are par for the course. They are too high, but that's the price you have to pay to keep the players living in the lap of luxury. Until there's a major shift accross the board to limit player wages nothing can change.

With most of the high earners leaving and almost certainly others having their agents getting diallers cramp finding another club already there is no reason why we cant live within our means.

I do not see how charging £400 to supporters who have stood by you through thick and thin...especially the thin is going to be wildly accepted.

How do we know the 'new' lot are not as bad as the old lot and it will take time to win some fans back.

Fleecing them is not one way of doing that.

Anything more than £350/375 will not see many takers IMO.

£400 does seem a little excessive for League 1 football. I would have thought £325 to £350 would be about the right level. The club should also look at other initiatives such as half ST's (for the first half of the season, as well as the 2nd half) and block tickets (5 games at a time).

They sound about right and the Free ST for U7's is brilliant.

That's £265 for the cheapest adult new ticket - quite a bit cheaper than the league 1 average. I think we'd be shooting ourselves in the foot to offer tickets at those prices.

Unless we get a megabucks new owner who can afford to risk lowering prices for short term loss with possible long term gain (as MK Dons have done) I think we should be looking at around £350 for a season ticket. A bit pricier than the average but needed for Saints security.

I'd give a big incentive for existing season ticket holders to renew though.

How would we be shooting ourselves in the foot if it meant we got more people to buy STs? The priority for the club has surely got to be to entice as many people to pay for tickets up front and have guaranteed cash in the pot. That way, if God forbid we have another awful season, we're not going to see an empty stadium. MK Dons' ticket policy seems pretty inventive to me, especially the fact it's aimed at families. Having said that, I don't know what their take-up is for STs, I guess that would be the proof of the pudding.

I'd like to see a loyalty bonus for those of us who have had season tickets for many years - for example, a free cup game ticket once you've had a season ticket for 10 years.

There is plenty of room in the stadium to try things out. Let's have a big range of prices and see what people go for. There are a big bunch of us who used to sit in the centre of the East Stand at the Dell that transferred to the centre of the Kingsland -we won't want to move from these prime seats, even if they cost an extra £150. Charge us a bit more, because we can afford it and the club will need the money.

Offer some good family ticket prices - let's face it, we can't have attracted too many children to start supporting the club in the last few years.

I wouldn't be suprised if there was to be a deal for those who had season tickets this season, such as cup games included, or 10% off.

I think it depends on WHO takes us over. If it is a " Low Budget concoction just to get control of the Club ", with NO Investment available for what WE come to see, ie, FOOTBALL, then it will be no better than it is now

We ALL want a BIG Takeover, with someone prepared to Invest in putting us back where we should still be, The Premiership

Failing that, we will shrink back to being what we were 30 odd years ago .... in the Third Division

I think they should make STs as cheap as possible for next season + plus a massive marketing campaign to sell 20,000

Surely it makes more sense to have 20,000 fans paying £200 per ST than 10,000 paying £400 - the total amount rec'd is the same UPFRONT but the total over the course of a season would be massively MORE with the lower ST price:

average spend in ground per person per match £15 x 44 matches = £690 over a season

£690 x 10,000 people = £6900000 (+ £4000000 ST revenue)

£690 x 20,000 people = £13800000 (+£4000000 ST revenue)

Where have the 44 matches come from?

There's 46 in a season, 23 at home.

But I do see your point
