Koeman linked to Newcastle (During the summer... sort of)

Not taken long. The Star have him linked to Pardew's job. Typical red top drivel.

Not exactly. If you read the article, they say Newcastle would have gone for him if they'd been looking for a new manager earlier, not that they plan to go for him now. They have Pulis and Moyes down as the favourites.

The BBC haven't read the story correctly and have given it a very misleading link on their website...

Newcastle are considering former Manchester United boss David Moyes, ex-Crystal Palace coach Tony Pulis and Southampton's Ronald Koeman to replace current manager Alan Pardew after a poor start to the season. (Daily Star)

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/gossip/

But the actual article on the Daily Star website says no such thing...

If the Geordies had made a change in the summer, Ronald Koeman – in charge of the Southampton side which hammered Newcastle yesterday – would have been in the frame.

So the Daily Star say if Pardew had gone in the summer then Newcastle would have considered Koeman, they do not say he would be in contention now he is at Saints if Pardew was sacked.

The BBC need to hire some people who are able to read English and comprehend it. It is the BBC you need to aim your "drivel" claim at, not the Daily Star.

Jesus Christ, is the job of copy checking completely lost?

The Toon boss now faces a crunch home match on Saturday against Hull - whose manages Steve Bruce is one of the names being linked with the Newcastle job.

Bruce has North East baggage from a newcastle viewpoint through his time as manager of bitter rivals Sunderland.

But he is a Geordie fanand has his admirers at St James’ Park.

even the most ardent pessimistic here would know from the off that it will not happen

Koeman has got the very rare opportunity to take over a good prem club. Probably now with no debt. First class training ground and world class academy

he has had the backing to build his own team and already has his own stamp on it with his own players. Some managers have to wait two transfer windows to get that

The very very earliest I can see Koeman going is at the end of next season. For the National Job. At the very earliest

...and so the cycle starts again.

Every time we put on a half-impressive display, this crap is going to surface. Apparently JWP and J-Rod are off to the blue half on Manchestuh as well...

We're better off hovering above the relegation zone and pulling off the odd shock and cup run... :(

The opening post of the thread isn't true.

Read post #5 and cheer the f**k up...

Even if it isnt true now, it will happen. We all know it, and we are all looking over our shoulder for it.

And yes, it is depressing.

Its depressing if you always (and with you always means ALWAYS) look for the negative. This thread is based on something that isn't true, a read of the article it is based on shows that. The BBC were unable to comprehend the article and gave a very poor summary which distorted it to say something it didn't.

"It will happen" - why on earth would Koeman want to leave Saints to go to Newcastle?

We'd be better off if this thread was locked by the mods to stop the likes of alpine_saint having panic attacks and slitting their wrists.
