  1. So far this season I've only been to 2 home games and one away (about to become 2 away). My reasons for not attending more have been variously holidays, weddings and the difficulty of attending midweek games while living and working in London. The one game I could have attended but didn't was Barnsley - I can't honestly give a good reason for my non-attendance - I just couldn't be bothered. Perhaps it's just that apathy that's killing the club?
  2. I'm actually quite pleased that we seem to be getting more than our fair share of games. With the crowds probably down to the 'I'd go to the game even if it is on Sky' level anyway so it's a handy bit of extra income (assuming I'm right and the club gets extra money for each televised clash?) and gives me a chance to watch a couple of games I wouldn't be able to other wise. Provided of course I can find a pub that isn't showing the Setanta Premiership matches
  3. The phrasing of the inital post seemed designed to elicit a negative response, my apologies if that was not the intention but it certainly read that way. After all we've all mocked opposition players with cries of 'who' and your post was a gnat's chuff away from that. Robertson's record on loan is solid if not spectacular and shows steady improvement. Yes he's not setting the world alight, but neither is Nathan. We are having a problem scoring goals so the more competition up front the better whilst we've more right sided midfielders than we can shake a stick at. Adn if Sheffield United have been touting him about for loan moves for a couple of years it wouldn't surprise me at all if Jan hadn't looked at him.
  4. Bloody hell - anyone know if it's possible to donate online? I doubt the door to door collectors will reach Holloway but I'd like to try and help protect everything Nick Holmes has achieved there.
  5. Fantastic to get a result - looking forward to hearing to the plucky 958 who made it up there.
  6. He is a Southampton player who needs our support, and that's an end to it. People writing off players before they've even donned the shirt - sadly typical. Remember the abuse leveled at Holmes when we signed him? And who hear now isn't praying he gets fit ASAP?
  7. Burley had a team he had expensively produced himself. JP has a bunch of kids.
  8. To be fair they'd be in the play off places if not for the post-administration points penalty.
  9. We sound terrible, outplayed by a league 2 side
  10. We need a win - get us back to the confidant attractive side who were unlucky in the first few games of the season, and away from the dis-spirited side that's come out in the last few games.
  11. Need our support
  12. The attitude of many posters on here would see us relegated and in administration, luckily you aren't in charge of the team. The attitude of JP is something quite different and if the players listen to him rather than our negative rfans we might just have a chance.
  13. 8 quid off a ticket. Average attendance this season 16490 (although that includes televised games and a couple of midweek games when attendance would be down anyway). So that's about 6500 walk up (I think we have around 10k season tickets http://www.channel4.com/news/article.jsp?id=2357467). Match day income down £52,000 on ticket sales so at 18 quid a ticket we'd need about 2900 odd extra through the gates to break even. That's a 25% gate increase - but about a 45% walk up increase. A big gamble just to break even.
  14. If you're going to play Dyer it has to be down the right, and it has to be with a defensively minded fullback behind him as he's never going to be much good at tracking back.
  15. If all you care about is winning games then you're supporting the wrong club - honestly just go join the Man U zombies. If all you care about is watching football the way it's supposed to be played go and watch Arsenal. If what you care about is Southampton FC and will support them through thin and thinner then you're in the right place.
  16. For the football purist this is a great time to be watching Southampton, I honestly believe we are playing the most attractive football than I can remember since the '80s (Le Tiss's genius aside - but that was one man rather than a team). Unfortunately for many fans it's not about the football, it's about the results. That's not an attitude I can criticise because ultimately it's the results that count. Would crowds increase if we were top of the table playing hoofball rather than the bottom playing football? Yes I think they would, but I wish they would come anyway.
  17. Gotta disagree - he was excellent in our first couple of games but has gone backwards since. He's never gonna set the world alight but good enough for this level.
  18. Not so sure about the 'bulky' biut - he looked like he'd lost a couple of stone since he was at Saints! Seriously I don't think he's any better than our own youth even with the weight loss.

  20. We've got a breeding program for our players now? Can we bring back Le Tissier and put him up for stud?

    Question

Lowe has never stated that Pearson's performance had anything to do with his contract not being renewed. The reasons for getting Poortvliet and Wotte in rather than retaining Pearson were down to financial not footballing reasons. One day I hope you get over yourself and stop the senseless anti-Lowe trolling. If you must criticize him then do it for something he's actually done rather than this made up nonsense, god knows there's enough real things to criticise him for.
  22. Currently listed as being in the reserves of a team playing in the Champion's League so maybe not that outlandish a suggestion. http://www.cfrcluj.net/reserve_squad.htm However, the way I read it, it does look like overseas loans would have to be completed in the window so maybe not.
  23. 12 quid - it's hidden on the second page of Linen & Home https://ssl.saintsfc.co.uk/dept.asp?sessionid=873133397&shopperid=&subgroup=300&hotlinkid=600&start=5&search=&searchdept=
  24. You could try his site at icons, but it doesn't appear to have been maintained in a while http://www.icons.com/niemi/
  25. Some great saves - and some truly shocking defending!
