So does it not concern you that we are unable to attract a key target, when at one point it looked all but done? I don't think he's that good, but come on, if he goes to Everton, you can't not blame the board.
-
Can you blame him? More money, more ambition and more than likely to stay in the league. Lets be honest, who in their right mind would want to come to this shower of sh!te club at the moment? Even half the players we already have don't want to be here.
-
It's not the managers fault he isn't good enough. He's trying his best and clearly should have been relived of his duty some time ago, it is our boards fault that he hasn't. They are letting their personal ego get in the way of footballing decisions.
-
Les for hiring a cheap, useless manager. Being completely arrogant and believing his own hype. Kat for giving Les that amount of responsibility and not giving the funds to back him.
-
Les Reed, Ralph Krueger, Katharina Liebherr and Ross Wilson all have to take a large share of the blame. The first 3 the main culprits, imo.
-
"He is a player the manger knows well and is someone who we have been tracking for some time. With the addition of Guido, I believe that we now have the best attacking options in the league".

Looks all but signed for Everton. I'm not his biggest fan and for the money being talked about, I think there is better out there.. However, he clearly was a key target, he would have offered us something we don't have (pace and directness), probably would have improved us and at one point looked like it was a done deal that he'd come here. Yet again, Les / the transfer committee **** up in the transfer window. Well done lads!
-
Amazing really - I assume the black box picked him up whilst watching Pied.
-
Not sure any deserve it, but you'd have to say Austin. without his goals we would be well and truly ****ed!
-
Yep, doesn't look great. Also, looks like a Pellegrino signing, which isn't a great sign as wouldn't point towards us planning on binning him any time soon. Not one to write someone off before they have signed, especially one I know nothing about and as you've said, hopefully he's great. But, this sums up 'The Southampton Way' if you ask me. We have £70m burning a hole in our pocket (appreciate not all in 1 lump sum, but it's guaranteed), we are in grave danger of relegation and are crying out for a goal scorer to save our season and all we can muster up is a unknown, untested, reserve player from Monaco in hope he comes good.
-
Hasn't it been reported that QSF only turned them down because he didn't want a wage drop if they go down? I assume O'Neill didn't want to be second choice - i'm guess at that. Also, it's been reported that a 'top European coach' was interested but was turned down as had no previous PL experience. Not sure they were scrapping the barrel, it was more that they had a very strict criteria for who they wanted. I don't know if VFTT could confirm in more detail if this was the case, as it would shed light on our potential targets.

Yep, people will laugh and on paper it looks a terrible appointment (lets hope it is). But, if you are honest you'd rather have Lambert than MP. Especially in a relegation fight.
-
Yep, pretty sure this change took place during the restructure towards the end on last year - don't think this is anything new, just looks like it is now 'formal'.
-
It's a difficult one really. Boycotting may be the only way to send a message to the board, but that will not help the team. The team need the fans behind them. Boo and do whatever after the game, but not during it.. IMO. Fact of the matter is you do need to hit the board where it hurts, if you want them to take note, and that's their pockets and reputation. Most will have already paid for tickets to the game so wouldn't make a difference anyway. Personally, I'd rather see a congregation outside the main entrance - chanting for the manager and the boards head. That way, you can support the team, whilst also show your displeasure and with the sky camera's there it's the perfect opportunity to 'embarrass the club'.

Miss out on what

Did I say it wasn’t acceptable or that you need to ask anyone’s permission? I just asked your reasons and as suspected, it’s because you’re bitter about him moving on to bigger, better things. FWIW he didn’t ‘**** on the club’ at all. He gave us the opportunity to convince him to stay, we couldn’t do that, he left and both parties still hold mutual respect. At no point, unlike Koeman, did he give us the impression he would stay as your manager. Lovren, VVD and all the others it was generally expected. Lallana is the one that ‘hurt’ the most, given all that we done for him and the way he went about his move. Similar to Fonte.

Would be willing to bet my house on the fact that isn’t true. Jay is another who is just an all round decent bloke, no way would he racially abuse someone. If proven not true then a lengthy ban needs to be handed out to Bong. Allegations that could destroy a mans career or life. Difficulty is it may be hard to prove either way.
-
Out of curiosity why do you think Poch is a wan ker? He’s generally one of the nicest blokes in the game, especially at manager level. I’m glad he’s doing so well. If it’s down to the fact we couldn’t persuade him to stay and Tottenham offered more ambition then that makes you look a bit silly and bitter.
-
A very good player. Would have been ideal to replace Mane last year. Doubt we’d be able to get him now though.

Always made me laugh that, despite being told this a number times, a few just completely ignored this.
-
Les is hopeful we can get him - Close the thread.
-
As usual, a load of sh!te that has come from Les Reeds mouth. It's always worrying when he is hopeful / comfortable about something (Walcott in this case)

Fair point. Although we do look better with a focal point of our attack (when Austin plays). Still think we would also need: Quick winger (I like the look of Pione Sisto that played for midtjylland. Now at Celta Vigo and has 3 goals and 10 assists this season). Creative central player (a shame Wilshere is now getting games, he'd have been perfect). Right sided CB - (Yoshida and Stephens not good enough, if you ask me).
