  1. Well yes, genuine excitement. That's fine as far as (good spirited) pitch invasions go. But "shall we do a run-on just because it's the end of the season and we're planks" is just ultra lame.
  2. They've had a meaningless second half of the LEAGUE season.
  3. This is an excellent debunking of a useless analogy.
  4. Ohhh Teddy Teddy ? Anyone remember that whilst "kettled" outside the ground after the match? Also, did anyone else who was on that train wonder why there were thousands of Skates in the streets if they were bothered about the match, when it was live on tv ? There were hundreds right next to the away end 20 minutes AFTER kick off, so either they were bothered (in which case why not see how the match was going) or they weren't, in which case why were they there ? No, they'd rather turn out to give the Scammaz stick than actually watch the match. Highly illogical.
  5. I'd like to see a link to the SaintsWeb season predictions from the front page, I know I may have mentioned West Brom and Swansea potentially for the drop... but hoping I mentioned Villa too...
  6. When you're playing most days and there's no recovery time you just pick the players who look like they might manage 90 minutes.
  7. Unfortunately for them the fixture backlog is really starting to hurt them now, they only have 5 games in hand on the leaders and are 18 points behind, last 5 results have been LLWDL (in the last 9 days). They are at least finally up to 2nd. They now have the mentalism of playing Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Tuesday this "weekend". They've already played 12 matches this month !
  8. You won't see me run. You'll also note I still haven't come back to play for your 7-a-side team at Wide Lane yet from about 4 years ago...
  9. The last desperate bid by Man City fans to save some face was this "SPOT THE DIFFERENCE" but all it says to me is that when you're used to something it's just not that exciting as it is for someone who only does it rarely.
  10. Completely agree.
  11. We still had the sense of humour to sing "you're supposed to be at home" to the empty ground when locked in for getting on for an hour. For some reason I'm still pleased that when the late train people finally got released, I managed to get to the front (a couple of people above complaining about the disorganised queue outside), and I was about the 2nd or 3rd person in from that group - hammered up the steps, just in time to see Niemi bring down Yakubu to concede the penalty. I doubt anyone who was there has seen the tv footage live, so difficult to know about all the "bottled it" and "in the tunnel" stories people talk about. I was still stood in Fratton having bricks chucked at me wondering what the smell of burning petrol was, and how that car was upside-down at that point. It was the worst thing ever though. Utterly embarrassed by the lack of performance and just stood there for getting on for 2 hours and took it.
  12. It was easier in 1990, plus Saints were good until he pitched up.
  13. I'd say Steve Kean was starting to look pretty good compared the the mess that's followed him...
  14. FWIW shirts are v If people want to know which colour shorts and socks they should try and bring if they can. (i.e. black shorts, red socks for home and navy/navy for away). I'm sure Steve won't give a toss if people don't match but I'll be bringing my kit OCDs.
  15. Ha, I managed to get a whole sentence in the final article. Comes of having SaintsWeb Hive Mindset I suspect, I think everything I said was also said by someone else.

    Biting

Surely Sergio Biscuits is "most likely to be bitten" not "most likely to bite" ?
  17. Erm, well none of my football shirts are nylon, but then I only wear them to watch Saints matches, or to actually play football in. I did go through a phase of taking a Saints shirt on holiday to pose one stupid "location" pic, but didn't bother in New York recently, so at 39 I think I grew out of it, though I did take a pair of Saints shorts for awkward potential hotel fire alarm middle of the night scenarios. They were a godsend after a bout of chafing though.

    New York

I was there earlier this month, 4th visit. Empire State Building is nice, Top of the Rock is better (because you can also see the ESB and it's nothing like as busy). Statue of Liberty tours were not stopping at the island due to effects of Hurricane Sandy, but the boat trip I went on instead took you up the East River to get good pics of One World Trade Center, past Ellis Island and Liberty, and also up past the Brooklyn Bridge - though it's more expensive than the Staten Island Ferry if you just want to go past the Statue. The packs of tourist things are cheaper than buying everything separately, but you'll need to do at least 3 things to make it cheaper, we only wanted ESB and Liberty Boat so we took the hit and paid the "standard" prices. Hotelwise, depends how much "luxury" you want, we stayed one block from ESB and practically next to Macy's on 32rd Street, down the road from Madison Square Garden, and it worked out about £150 a night. Hotel Stanford. Koreatown but we didn't do anything Korean, it was just VERY central for what we'd planned. Big double bed, clean room, small bath with shower in it, safe, swipe card, complimentary bagel/continental brekkie, selection of amusing US tv channels, blackout curtains and competent, friendly helpful staff. Previously I've stayed in Vanderbilt YMCA, East Side, over near 50th around 2nd Avenue but not far from Rockefeller/Radio City and UN, you got two bunks in a (private) room, use of a shared shower and toilet block at the end of the corridor with cubicles, a small tv per room and much, much, cheaper but you still have your own room (though the floors were split by gender back then). Had a gym and running track indoors, breakfast on site, just depends what you want to pay. Century 21 near World Trade Center site is still cheap (and there are other C21s in NYC) but New Jersey doesn't have sales tax so is 8% cheaper for everything and has lots of malls (not that we went), and just a short train ride away if you know where to go. I also went to MetLife Stadium, Madison Square Garden, Central Park (and the Zoo, which was... alright), Macy's, Bloomingdales, 7-11 for a Slurpee, Wendy's burger and a couple of Broadway shows. I bloody love it.
  19. So... they borrowed money from the council to buy the ground, then didn't buy the ground with it ? You'd hope any credible democratic organisation (I mean the PST and the Council) would see a mass outbreak of embarrassed resignations.
  20. Colliers Wood Utd won 4-2 against Guernsey FC at Leg of Mutton Field, Anvil Lane, Downside Bridge Road, Cobham, Surrey. Can't find any team news on FA / Combined Counties or either of the club websites.
  21. That was around the time anyone who came on the "official" train actually arrived.
  22. The Wickes looks more like the Madejski.
  23. You need some new mates.

    Biting

Boruc is clearly a headcase, so he's the most likely, and if he was going to have a nibble, I'd like it to be on Suarez as a kind of karma.
