Preston 2-3 Saints - You've Gotta be Havin' a Laugh
70's Mike replied to Arizona's topic in The Saints
Saints win Pompey Lose The natural order is restored for at least a week -
Lowe put himself on a pedistal , and you are wrong it is not the vocal minority but the silent majority that do not like him. Other than the stadium he has delivered nothing that we had not already had in the previous 25 years. This club has always done everything on the cheap, except dividend payments , the reverse takeover in 97 being the prime example.

14000 of us keep showing blind optimism and giving total support from the terraces, up to 1000 attend away games . At the moment the fans that are attending games should be applauded not knocked

hope there is someone with a better memory than mine because i cannot think who was available at the time, i do know we were a highly respected premiership club at the time of both appointments so feel sure there were people with the level of experience to fill the jobs. I always sort of understood Stuart's appointment but never Wigleys
-
I think George Prost came along after Stuart Gray. I knew Stuart personally, and told him of my reservations at the time, imo he was to nice a guy to ever be really successful at football management in the top level.

You after a job TIM
-
So at the time Gray and Wigley were the only two options ?

Are we better off than when Crouch was here?

Whilst i want Lowe gone from the club I disagree with your statement. The main reason why crowds are down is the crap not winning football we are playing at home, a few 1 nils to the Southampton , and the crowds will go up. Of course if you are blaming Rupert for the current first team then that is a different matter -
I personally do not think Stuart Gray (sorry Stu) or Steve Wigley were up to the jobs , but like all of us if offered promotion more money etc they took it. Rupert as an astute employer should have realised this especially with Wigley because not only did it cost us money in compensation but we lost two really good coaches , many forget Wigley and Gray were attactively involved with the Academy when we were producing really good players

Some people keep talking about our scouting network but i believe that was dismantled after relegation as one of the cost savings introduced by Rupert then along with withdrawing support from the ladies side and charging the Tyro to use the Dell Bar for meetings. The Scouts we have now are independents and paid by commission which probably means we will not be getting first shout for any really good young players or non league players because they will be touted to other clubs first. I actually feel sorry for Pearce because their are some on here who , without seeing him play, are bigging up into the next Alan Hansen already just like they have done with every loanee we have signed this season but other than Cork and Morgan the rest are struggling to hold down a place in the best 11
-
As do I
-
so why did he buy into a football club in the first place ? he and his little group now control over 40% of the shares, and many chairman of comparable sized businesses do put money into them when they need to or guarantee overdrafts/ loans. We are not a big business any more and different "rules" for funding small businesses apply, not legal rules but practical rules on how small businesses operate
-
if it was under 14's it could well be Pace, using players from all over the county
-
SO we are fans/supporters now NOT customers
-
you make it sound as if we should feel sorry for them, wonder why they bought them in the first place. as far as i am aware very few have got wealthy by buying shares in a football club, except United, Doug Ellis and the Moores
-
it is lowe/wilde releasing a few at a time
-
Rupert forgave Wilde
-
Just harder to take when they move to another CCC side, it will be interesting to see what happens at TReading if they do not get promoted this season
-
Surman to Reading and DMG to QPR
-
He could stand up at the AGM and say i will put a million pounds in as a long term loan , if the other shareholders owing over 5% will do the same
-
YOU should not have mention Wilkinson , luvvies will be calling for SCW to return
-
hi Tim, it is really tough at the moment i have never known in the last 47 years of support the city feeling so low about the club, even when Branfoot was in charge we all knew we had the players to do the business it was just Branfoot who did not but now it is becoming more and more difficult to find someone who goes to the games
-
to be fair UM , Thompson improved as the game went on although he is very light weight and his final ball often went behind the goal, a bit of the Tommy Jenkins about his crossing
-
in my simple football mind and after 47 years of watching Saints , if you hand the inititive to the away side by not looking for a winner then you are asking for trouble, great victories were won at home in the past by going for it. no one was expecting gung ho but a simple 4-4-2.

Only worry for me was that gaps are starting to appear in the Northam as well
