One season we sacked Alan Pardew after three games and his replacement got us promoted into the Championship and the Premier League at least one year ahead of schedule, which was fantastic for the club, players and finances.
-
Quite and let's remember that Aribo and Edozie would walk into nearly every squad and into most teams in the division but we decided not to play them at all.

We shouldn't be giving football management jobs like we're the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Southampton Football Club as the worst episode of Jim'll Fix It it is possible to imagine.
-
100% agree with you that we should have appointed an experienced manager with gravitas and authority built from managing at a significantly higher level.
-
With the investment in players and wages that we have put through this is an insanely low expectation. If you don’t think we should be anywhere near the promotion places this season then you basically think we can never hope to be promoted again because we won't have better resources than now for any other future season.

I would say it am assuming a best case scenario where someone could come in for the last third of the season and Iain Dowie us into the play offs. It could be worse but I don't think we will be in relegation risk.
-
The flipside is we will win some games because we have a significantly better set of players than almost every other team. And this will be taken as proof that the manager is "on the right track" etc so will just buy more time. One win in every four or five matches and he stays in role until the January window closes and we're 12th ("only seven points off the play offs") What a wasted pre season, a wasted window. And we are on the brink of a wasted season.

Fair play to whoever waited for them to finish clearing up and then threw his green ball on 😂

Has Spoors been taken in by another fraud of a manager ?
CB Fry replied to Andrew Watson's topic in The Saints
Spors went out and spent seven million on Damion Downs. (Hull City in total spent 700k this summer) Whatever is happening is on Spors 100%.- 29 replies

If you look at the top 6, half of them have managers who are on the same number of games as Still. So you can't really use the "Rome wasn't built in a day" stuff when the likes of Bristol City and Middlesbrough are doing OK in the same time frame.
-
Fair to say i would not have been dancing in the streets if we had announced Rob Edwards but here we are. His 6 games are a hell of a lot better than ours.
-
The club were. However "utterly shit" we were last season, we finished eleven places higher in the league than Middlesbrough, we bought one of their best players and spent lots of money on others. I don't get why they get to be considered for promotion and we don't.
-
I'm not sure there's even one player that is obviously a Will Still picked player. Nathan Jones was there only for a few weeks but even he still managed to buy James Bree. I am not sure who Still's picks are, his Telfer/Williams, his Downes/Manning etc etc etc.

He's not up to it. Maybe its because his brothers aren't here but either way the job is too big for him. The club will not be brave enough to get rid now, and either way the play offs are still viable in January whatever happens so they will wait. But, we've fucked it on recruitment, again. .

Russell Martin has a lot to answer for

Tell you what, those Super Mario videos announcing the signings were good, though.

They called him Caspar "Beißt dir in die Beine" Jander in the Nuremburg dressing room.

Start the game on the front foot, lobbing long balls in the box for the big man to hold up and cause chaos. Then when we've settled after 15 mins of that switch to a more direct style of high long passes into the focal point front man. Then close the game out by going long and high with balls in the box to the target man. We need to be flexible.

You would think Aribo has got something to offer in what might be quite a slogfest today. Unless he is on a plane to Suadi or something
-
Hat trick for Downs. Hahahahha just kidding lads he's fucking shit.
-
100% he would get another Championship job easily. He's won promotion so that's good on a CV. Easily he'd be a contender for Norwich/WBA/QPR/Blackburn/Hull/Derby/etc but probably not until next summer when a club like that decides to make a change. One of those clubs will generate the requisite level of scar tissue this season. He's quite photogenic and media savvy so depending on which way they go he could get Wrexham even. I think he might go abroad but that didn't work out great for Moyes/Pardew/Scott Parker, but maybe he thinks he could do a Schteeve McClaren and win the Eredivisie....
-
Win today and he's into the Semi Finals of a major cup competition which will be a phenomenal achievement and a huge response to everyone that has written him off. Fingers crossed lads, you'll get your moment 🤞
