  1. Maybe so but Mark Hughes is not going to get a job better than the bottom third of the Prem. And at this point I am not prepared to accept that the team that burned nineteen million quid on Carillo is unable to put a package together that would match up to a management role at that level at least. ie we can match what, say, Bournemouth or Huddersfield or Palace might put down. We'll see but the track record is not good for me to give the current management any benefit of any doubt.
  2. It's not that though. We've said he fits like a glove but still take longer than WHU and Stoke take to sack, source and announce a manager. It doesn't bode well because it's the same behaviours that saw us balls up signing centre backs and attackers in recent windows and appoint terrible managers. I agree with you re Hughes - his stock ain't that high and he won't get a better job in England this summer, he can drop to the Championship or just wait until soneone (Neil Warnock) is sacked. Which is why our current inertia is baffling. We'll be in a competitive field of one with a manager whose current salary we already know and we still can't do it. At some point one has accept that the club is run by imbeciles.
  3. Why do we need a third kit against Spurs and Fulham if our away kit is Yellow?
  4. I'd like to assume the club had already worked out a contingency in whether we stayed up or not, in that Hughes would have been a fine candidate if we'd have gone down anyway. Plus, once the Swansea game was done they just needed to firm up plan A. Really then they could have got this done by the Monday/Tuesday after Man City. For the situation we are/were in, the "these things take time" argument really is utter horsesh it.
  5. Your impression is incorrect.
  6. You said we were still bring run like a cr appy old seaside B&B when Cortese was in charge.
  7. Until I hear confirmation from Sub-Saharan Africa I'm taking nothing for granted.
  8. Not sure how much media content is required for a manager who basically is already our manager.
  9. He hasn't got that much power. He can take this job or sit around waiting for Neil Warnock to get sacked. Despite our general uselessness this is still a good job and I'm sure Hughes wants it.
  10. Amen brother. I know some don't want to hear it but I couldn't give a flying fu ck that we're not in the Champions League and like you say we never will be. I want us to win a cup and three Wembley trips in less than a decade has been great. Europa, all for it, suits us. We are what we are and I love Saints for it.
  11. It's looking like this year's "We're going to recruit Unai Emery/Thomas Tuchel" is actually "We're going to recruit Mark Hughes". We've even downgraded our unachievable targets... In all seriousness I am sure we will get this done but the fact that WHU and Stoke and others can get on with stuff while we can't is a joke. If we finalise Hughes tomorrow then fine but it's still taken too long and all the behaviours that have fu cked up The last 3 transfer windows are still there.
  12. You will remember the last four transfer windows right? Im sure we do "track targets for months" but we then wait until the last possible moment to act because we think we're awful clever, leaving us no contingency plans and in the case of Jan 2018, Summer 2017 and Jan 2017 a failure to sign the players we have been supposedly tracking for months. Oh, and we've dithered about with managers for the last two summers as well, tracking pointless targets for weeks and that falling through then recruiting duds. Four utter car crashes of transfer windows over 2 seasons and two utter car crashes of managerial appointments over two summers. And now we can't seem to conclude a deal on a manager who basically is already our manager. The club is a fu cking clown car. Yeah, I got faith.
  13. It is now becoming a bit silly that other clubs can sack recruit and announce brand new managers and we can't seem to complete this simple task with a manager that has a car parking space and a monogrammed tracksuit at the club already. Just feels the club have learned fu ck all.
  14. We were three points and a two legged qualifier away from the Champions League.
  15. But when Markus bought us we were just like Shrewsbury are now. Just like them and no mistake.
  16. The easy bit compared to getting into the Champions League. And it is. Huddersfield have made it to the Prem and Burnley, Swansea and WBA have made it to eighth.
  17. "Snapping up".
  18. Nothing anywhere that said ML's dream was CL football. He was a sensible businessman so I very much doubt he had any interest in funding that.
  19. I can't imagine anyone would be so lame as to make out they were from a different country just to spread rumours on a football forum.
  20. I miss Redslo.
  21. Who is "someone like Rowett"? I know Derby fans that will happily drive him to Stoke. Unambitious, tedious football and scraped the play offs despite plenty of financial backing and a good half season before to settle in. Best comparison is Burley with us. All in all a fair to middling boss, not some undiscovered genius.
  22. I voted go. Middle way sounds like a bit of a fudge. He's had his time and think sensible to move on.
  23. I'll look out for it. Used to read the original column in the paper, and I read one of the books. Is it still Dave Kitson, or have they regenerated a new one?
  24. The word on the street in Abuja is that Mark Bowen and Eddie Niedzwiecki will be part of the set up as well.
