I have no idea why I would ever want to do that. However, would be interested to see how the weeks are described in, say, mid April when FA Cup ties and League matches are played on the same day meaning games in hand start racking up and when the weather starts moving matches around the schedule. Then what day is it? Matchday 3/23/31/etc is a load of sh it.

Indeed. We've already ballsed up the thing this season was supposed to be about - the group stages of Europa. We're stuck with players we probably wouldn't have signed if we thought we weren't going to make it. So we've got a squad to utilise, so they better get on with winning the League Cup. Beating Man U tomorrow will do to start with, though.

Slight rewrite of history there - plenty on here were swooning over Palace and others transfer business, and plenty didn't stop going on about Stoke's "strengthening" in particular. A handful of games in. We will all be much of a muchness. None of these fu cking clubs are getting in the Champions League so who cares.

No one in this country uses "match day X" for the Premier League.

Big Sam to Sunderland couldn't be more inevitable.

This. For gawds sake someone change the thread title.

In fairness the most ridiculous line of questioning this week was about avoiding a repeat of the pitch invasion last time Villa played West Brom, with Pulis and Sherwood being all earnest and issuing calm advice. Effing retarded. Last years pitch invasion was because Villa had got to Wembley for the FA Cup semi, not because they happened to beat flippin' West Bromwich Albion. There will be no invasion this weekend. If either of them get to Wembley this year, them fans are on the pitch. Again.

He wasn't talking about sell on fees. He was talking about us getting a fee from Liverpool for player A which we then give some of to Burnley for a player B from them (ie Jay Rod) and then Burnley give some of that to Club C for player C and so on. In fairness it doesn't work quite that neatly as fewer players are being bought from English lower leagues. But that was the point.

This. We're a bit lumbered with a few Europa makeweight squad-meat signings. Might still help us in the old League Cup though.

Do you think that players signing four or five year contracts are expecting to play for the same manager the whole time? Who the manager happens to be will be a little way down the list for most players. We've got probably one more full season of Koeman after this. Three full seasons is pretty phenomenal stability these days. He goes, we move on to the next one.

In fairness that's kind of thing that useless, lazy, incompetent, complacent Les Reed would do what him being all complacent and lazy and incompetent and everything.
-
After the terrific job he did at Bolton, I'd bloody hope not.

Great thread. The truth on this matter desperately needs to be told.
-
You know this thread has jumped the shark when Gaston is being compared to Marian Pahars. Dear god.
-
I've said it a few times on this thread but bears repeating - he didn't want to be leader at the start of the process and you can see he really doesn't want to be leader now. Not only is he utterly incapable of leading a team, setting a direction and bringing people with him, he has no gift or grasp for the fundamental basics of life as the leader of Her Majesty's Opposition. He spent his first weekend shuffling off to his comfort zone of singing The Red Flag in a pub, or turning up at some refugee fundraising fete. Those days are gone, Jeremy. If he gets through 18 months he's done well.
-
Not very good, so Les.
-
Looks dodgy as fu ck. Or, he's banging him.
-
So the news reported a gimmick. Well done Jeremy. Genius. If he'd asked six consecutive questions about, say, the housing crisis, then the news would have had to report on the housing crisis, the BBC would have had to have start pulling together packages explaining what the crisis is. The leader of the opposition driving the agenda. Instead he gave Cameron six unchallenged open goals to calmly explain Conservative policy. Well played Jeremy.

Personally I was hoping we would have no desire to win on Sunday at all now, out of respect for Luke, like.

Nigel Adkins Interview (Saints YouTube channel, Monday)
CB Fry replied to jawillwill's topic in The Saints
Correct. Everyone has moved on, and our Nigel hasn't turned out to be the greatest English manager of his generation after all, so no. I will be quite happy if he never comes back - he's had his time and it's there forever. It doesn't need another chapter. -

If they thought it was 'dodgy' they wouldn't have been promoting it on Twitter all weekend. I doubt they expected many more than 400 to watch it live. it's a flipping YouTube interview, absolutely no requirement to watch it "live" whatsoever. I'm amazed 400 peopled bothered.
