Basically this thread is you making up totally false positions and pretending other people have said things when they've said nothing of the sort. Like this: No one is painting that picture. No one. At all. You, and SOG are both trawling about desperate to be outraged and to grandstand about how everyone else is all awfully prejudiced and everything but, like, you're definitely not. Just pathetic. And let's not forget your ludicrous claims about friends that should be in Parkhurst right now. I've never, ever been on the company of anyone who warrants a five year stretch in Parkhurst but you apparently have with not one but two people, for hate crimes to boot. And you're the one lecturing me. Let me know when you've acted on your superior principles and shopped your mates to the old bill. Otherwise you're just as bad as they are. I look forward to seeing them in court.

Would you mind explaining who "the likes of me" are? And do tell me what the likes of me "think about prejudice" because I'd wager you haven't got a fu cking clue what I think.

Where have I said that all male cabin crew are gay? Show me. In fact show anyone on this thread saying it. You've tied yourself in a right knot on this thread, screaming homophobia at people making utterly anodyne and perfectly true points - there are gay-friendly communities in various parts of the country but you seem to object to that idea, there are jobs with a much higher proportion of homosexuals than other jobs, like cabin crew which, as a statistical expert like what you are can see is where you are, say, ten times more likely to encounter a homosexual than in the general population. Why you see this as some expression of homophobia is your problem, but you might need to start accepting reality.
-
Who needs to be told that not all male cabin crew are gay? Who are you talking to? And I think you have a weaker grasp of statistics than me, sweetheart. The anecdotal 60% rate from that article represents are gigantic over index versus the population as a whole which is somewhere around 5-7%. But hey you know statistics, dontcha.

Yesterday I witnessed a hate crime that I think would warrant the perpetrators a five year stretch at HMP Parkhurst. I've decided not to report it or take any decisive action about it now, but I am planning to use it to make a pompous point while grandstanding in a debate on a football forum in a few years time. Have I done the right thing?

So you're saying you think EVERY sterotypical person behaves to that sterotype? Disgusting. Typical stereotypicalpersonphobia. I myself have met lots if stereotypical people and all of them are completely different to each other. I personally know that all stereotypical people are unique in their own way. Well, except the lesbians.

Thanks for conclusively proving that you are a nutcase.

Some despicable comments from a hateful homophobe. Utterly shameful. ......... Cabin crew is seen by some as a job heavily populated with gay men. How do you feel about that stereotype? I know cabin crew is regarded as the stereotypical job for a gay man. I don’t actually feel much about that because there’s actually quite a lot of gay men doing this job, so there’s actually a reason why this stereotype exists. Also, I am completely out to family and friends so I didn’t really give it much thought when choosing the job; I really wanted to become one and I didn’t hesitate – even when I told my family that I was moving to another country to do it. How true is the stereotype? In your experience, what percentage of men in your profession are gay? The stereotype is actually quite true. There’s a high percentage of gay men doing this job. I was actually surprised that there were more straight men doing the job than I expected when I started. In my experience, I would say about 60% of the men working as cabin crew are gay men. ........... These lies are from something called Gay Star news which is kind of thing that definitely doesn't exist in SOG world. http://www.gaystarnews.com/article/hairdresser-cabin-crew-and-nurse-what-it%E2%80%99s-working-%E2%80%98gay%E2%80%99-jobs240315/

Really, really not a thing. It's beautiful that even the statto geeks haven't deigned to call Gastons bog standard wall pass an assist, and the forum dinlows have to pick up the pieces of their stat-guff bullsh it. Not an assist. Game over. Thank you and goodnight x x x
-
Must be wrong. Apparently it was an assist whether I liked it or not.
-
Proper effed up thinking right there. An assist is not the moment of conception for a goal. Maya Yoshida runs 30 odd yards with the ball, instigating a one-two with another player and lashes one home from 20 yards out, and you're giving the other guy the conception credit? Brilliant. Turns out my dad is not my dad after all, and I should have been sending fathers day cards to the guy who drove the bus he caught back from town that night. An "assist" is not an end itself and your obsession with it is just pointless stat-wa nk. If anything Maya should be credited with the assist of giving Gaston a pi ss easy one-two wall pass to be part of in the goal he ran a third of the length of the flipping pitch to score.
-
You can differentiate between "assists" because an assist is not a thing. It was made up for the sake of stattos and fantasy football players. A goal is a goal is a goal. A goal is a thing. Crediting every player with an assist because they happen to be the second to last player to touch the ball before a goal is not a thing.
-
Arf. Infinitely more significant is the "what if" Maya had underhit/overhit/screwed the shot up/ran into a defender/lost control etc. If any of those things happened, Gaston's role of playing a basic 1-2 wall pass fades into total insignificance in the match. Tadic's cross to Pelle was great regardless of whether Pelle then ballooned it over the bar. Gaston's wonder 1-2 pass a third of the way into the Villa half? Hardly one for the end of season video is it. It's fu ck all without Maya running and scoring a great little goal. Happy to help.

You're not seriously interested enough to read my post about four posts above this one, though.
-
Pointless question, if that was the case it would be a completely different goal. Why not go in the opposite direction - Would it be an assist if the pass was twenty yards further back and Yoshida had ran 60 yards out and shot from 40 yards out?
-
It should mean a contribution that helps create a goal, to the point that the goal wouldn't have happened without it, it a cross, a lay off, Gastons header from Sunday, Tadic's cross to Pelle on Weds etc. These days in the world of 'stats' and fantasy football, and in this case for some on this forum, it just seems to mean "whoever touched the ball before the goalscorer did". Maya picked the ball up ran and shot from 20 odd yards out. He made his own goal, the 1-2 with Gaston a part of it but hardly an assist. If roles were reversed and it was Gaston's run and shot and goal very much doubt the Gastonettes on here would be drooling about the "assist" from the full back.
-
Bit much to call his pass to Yoshida as an assist.

Never has a forum contributor been so patently, painfully obviously not American. Y'all, eight times. Okay then.

Sheffield Wednesday away. Because last year's trip to the steel city was such a success. -
Now that we've won I will express disappointment in the team selected, but we got away with it. And we have the likes of Caulker on the books who we may well need some day soon, so he does need game time.

Don't they just do the draw anyway?
