And another one! You remember that, do you? Do you really. I can remember Jay's transfer taking ages and plenty of people on here being frustrated about how long it took to get over the line. I can remember plenty saying he was precisely the type of player we should be buying and plenty of positive response when we signed him. But you remember the response being like the response to this news. Okay then.

There was no such response to the signing of Rickie Lambert, you've just made that up to prove a point that doesn't exist. Did one or two people on the forum moan? No doubt they did, but there was no reaction anything like this. When we signed RL we were signing the best player in the division, and had scored 50 odd goals in his previous two seasons. For Shane Long to be remotely similar in record he'd have needed to be a 15-goals-a-season Prem striker. He ain't.

Loveable, though. Not sure that Long's price tag will provide the same level of empathy/forgiveness that Brett inspired. Maybe if Long fires us to Wembley, he will.

Properly on SSN headlines and everything now, including the fee.

Look, we've just signed seven or eight Premier League goals, guaranteed. So for those asking "where are the goals coming from", there's some right there. Well done to our pan-global scouting team.

I think we should apply the popular "I bet Liverpool only really gave us £15m for Lallana/Lovren" forum conspiracy theory to this fee. We probably only give Hull £12m if we win the Europa League.

That man can't half fall over. Probably win us a few pens this season and at least we've got Rickie to slam them away. Oh, yeah. Forget it.

Anyone got any youtube videos of this potential signing?

    Billy Sharp

Yes, but Billy is actually from Sheffield with roots in Sheffield. Adam Lallana is about as scouse as Stephen Fry.
  10. It's times like this when I think to myself "what would Everton do in this situation?".

I thought we've been touting him around for free, anyway, just get him out the door. Can't really do that and then apply a value to him with a club we happen to want a player from.
  12. I would like to be the first to write off Shane Long.
  13. No, I don't wonder about anything of the sort, I have made my views known on all our departures. And none of our departures are anything to do with what anyone here types into a forum. In fact I said on this very thread this morning how I understand why Boruc should want to leave and was sympathetic to his position. You have, successfully, changed my mind. Well done. PS - Saint Clark has nailed it in his post. Spot on.
  14. Oh well, tough. Earlier in the thread I had plenty of sympathy for AB's position but your continual bleating has put paidop to that. I hope we keep him to every last day of his contract.
  15. So says the Michael Flatley of Saints forums. A foot stamping collosus.
  16. Why didn't he go to Bayern then? The Forster story has been around for longer than the Boruc link to Bayern. And Koeman was quoted way, way back saying we were going to buy a keeper. So don't pretend he turned down Bayern for our benefit only for us to suddenly sign another keeper. Simply not true.
  17. For "Saints fans" read "every single group of football supporters on earth".

  19. I thought he was injured at the moment? If he is able to play vs Liverpool, great. Even if he only meets his new team mates a couple of days before, surely still an upgrade on Yoshida.
  20. No one from the club, at any point, has said we would spend "the 90m" in this window.
  21. Senior, established goalies are pretty unique. Don't go all Wes Tender on me, expanding out specific points to mile - wide generalisations. It would be understandable to me if Boruc wanted to leave now. Was always a risk and I said exactly this when I made the point on here a few times this summer that we didn't need a keeper that badly. Always amusing when players get linked away from us that the "but he wouldn't get game time there: eg Lallana is going to sit on the Liverpool bench" is the reason given for him being better off staying at Saints, inferring that playing regularly is the thing. Goes out the window when we want to build a squad, though. Artur Boruc is probably a grade above sitting on our bench. And your last line I 100% agree with. Actually think it is a pointless risk if FF starts against Liverpool. Let's try for some continuity.
  22. Yeah, but why? His relationship to SFC is nothing like his relationship with his country. As you say, he can't change nationality. But he can, relatively easily, find a club where he could be first choice.
  23. Not quite the same, GB. Boruc won't be able to put himself in contention from the bench at SMS.
  24. He just said "one or two" in answer to a question about signings but in a pretty off-hand way, just a throwaway answer really. Not worth getting worked up about. I imagine he is already sick of over promising.
  25. Yes, I am aware of that. My point is Koeman could have intervened and demanded he stay, like we are with Morgan. He's a kid with 20 games to his name, he couldn't really kick off like Lovren did. We could, if we really wanted to, have kept him. Basically for the money we got, it looks like we thought it wasn't worth the fight, and I like to think Koeman led this thinking.
