  1. I'm sure Hernandez would have been desperate to sign for Saints if only we still had global superstars like Rickie Lambert and Adam Lallana still at the club.
  2. Clubcall are full of it, so great to read it in there. Click bait.
  3. You might not be overly happy, but a few footballers, their agents and bigger football clubs than us couldn't give a stuff about that.
  4. Some people believe professional ambitious footballers knowing they can double or treble their wages and play for the biggest teams on the planet put in one polite transfer request, get told no and then forget all about it, looking forward to another thrilling season of mid table football on fifty grand a week. "No means no, boss. Okay, fine. Never liked Liverpool and having a six figure salary. Fair enough, I'm just happy to be paid an obscene amount here - any more would be a waste. Can't wait for the new season because I really believe in our vision to maybe play Champions League because I'd love to that. Just not next season for a club definitely in the champions league. No, at Saints some time." No means no. LOLZZZZ.
  5. Except, of course, those top end numbers are just completely made up and no one in the club ever said that's what we would get. If we had got forty million for Shaw the forum intellegensia would be grizzling how we failed to get fifty. World record for a teenager.
  6. Well, I always thought you were a good contributor to the forum, one of the few I have tended to agree with most of the time. But in recent times you do seem to be posting furious rants that are a bit nuts, combined with "I'll tell you all later" promises. I'd happily hear what you know, but as you have probably worked out, I am more than happy to let this close season play out before losing it.
  7. Cloaked asset strip. Jesus.
  8. It's a sad day when the last season's once proud European mega giants Southampton are now being potentially beaten to the signing of a new player by tiny inconsequential minnows like Everton. Leibherr woman out.
  9. They are pretty strong quotes but the solution is easy, very easy. We say to Lovren, no means no and that's that. Lovren then starts preparing for another season at the mighty Saints. The thing I don't get is we obviously haven't said no to him yet, so why is he making this fuss?
  10. Funny how heavily linked he was with Milan throughout the time he was here, now he is free and single the clamour seems less so. For a man with a record of not sanctioning transfers out - loads of times he did it, loads - it's amazing no one has scooped him up yet.
  11. When we were in L1 we were signing players from the league above. And players for million pound plus. We were the richest club in that division and probably the one above. We were the attractive proposition for players at that level - we were the Man United. So, it's you making up scenarios, just like Richmond - what were all these offers that Cortese refused to sanction. So scrap the 20 mil threshold - just any examples you like. Any at all. Hit me.
  12. The rational rebuttal is you have made up a situation and then got upset about it. Repeat whatever you want, you have.
  13. One things for certain, the players concerned definitely don't want to double their money and play for bigger clubs. After all, they know they are on obscene amounts now, so the idea of ever wanting more probably didn't even occur to them until Les Reed bundled them into a taxi up the M6.
  14. Nah. It's easy. Can I have a transfer? No. Please? No means no. Okay, I'll get ready for the new season here then. Have to say your "saying no" innovation has really put the whole situation into focus for me. Makes you wonder why the club haven't tried that.
  15. The most miserable, ranting doom mongering lunatic on the forum telling me to cheer up. Alright then. You have completely made up a scenario just to get cross about. Well done. PS. USE more CAPITAL letters in YOUR posts. It really HELPS emphasise your IDIOCY.
  16. You keep saying "no other moves were sanctioned" like there were loads of potential transfers out to CL level clubs that King Canute Cortese forced back with his supreme non - sanctioning power. So, remind us, during Cortese's time, what were all these £20m offers from CL level clubs that were "not sanctioned"?
  17. Classic case of you making up scenarios that haven't happened and then getting furious about them. Text book swivel eyed idiocy. Oh, and "by the way", why should any money come from the "Leibherrs coffers"? What do they owe you or any of us?
  18. I thought we were trying to stop them leaving for bigger clubs for huge salaries. The strike thing kinda only happens when the club says "no means no". Most players at all clubs all of the time aren't going on strike or threatening to. So I wouldn't focus your energy on preventing that in isolation.
  19. The hostage reference was really just to highlight how ridiculous your "just say no" approach was and is, but if you want to get hung up about how jolly awful footballers salaries are these days then fill your boots. For someone keen to espouse pragmatism I ain't seen much from you in exactly how you plan to keep a player threatening to go on strike, unless you think telling them you think their salary is obscene and they should jolly well be grateful is your master plan....
  20. I admire your lack of perspective. So we are (sorry you) are just saying a flat no based on your opinion that the players have obscene contracts and they should be grateful. But these players thinking "well I can double those wages, and play in the biggest stages in the Europe next season" - are they not being pragmatic? And players like Tadic, who might want to come to us for a couple of seasons with an eye on then progressing to a bigger club might look at our (your) flat - no stance and think actually I don't want to go there. Fu ck that. Wouldn't that be pragmatic, too?
  21. Which ones are you saying no to? I like the fact we have given up on players believing in a "vision" and we're now basically on to some kind of hostage situation. How does that kind of thing look like to players we might want to sign, by the way? Does it make us look good, or do you think it might make us look bad?
  22. As long as you sell them a "dream" and a "vision" of maybe one day playing in the Champions League, the attraction of definitely playing in the Champions League in three months time for 100k a week pretty much melts away.
  23. Yes, and it was Cortese's vision as well. It's in all his interviews - the idea that he was going to "up the investment" is nonsense. He always spoke of us not being able to compete financially, and doing it in a different way. The vision Cortese had did not have us paying 18 year old left backs £160k a week. So the "dream" truly is that for the assorted dins on here, even Cortese didn't share what they have in their heads.
  24. What was this consortium that was going to buy the club from the Leibherrs who had and have absolutely no intention of selling the club whatsoever? And what effing "consortium" is going to take on Abramovic and Shiekh Mansour, plus some of world football's biggest and richest brands? Maybe we could have a fans buy out to fund it. So there's one plan dealt with.
  25. For a split second it read like you actually believe that nonsense you've just typed. I'm sure we did get a following in the US last season - we would have been the football hipsters team of choice, but not down to the effing kit. Anyway, I bet Swindon Town must have quite the following stateside with their awfully sw anky plain red strip.
