Should MP be sacked if we don't get 3 points at Anfield?
CB Fry replied to SaintBobby's topic in The Saints
This is going to upset the thousands of fans who pour into St Mary's from Devon, Cornwall and Somerset for every home game. Digraceful we are turning our back on our catchment area. -
Not sure how anyone who regularly buys hot food at a football ground can ever be described as a winner.
-
Quite right. The football authorities should recognise free-scoring beautiful footballing teams like Saints. After all we've rained in two goals already this season which is amazing. And they should punish football-murdering bore-teams like West Ham. After all they've scored only two goals this season which is utterly pathetic.

It's not looking like the gigantic leap forward some were expecting. We are very solid these days but quite dull/predictable for a side with so many potentially exciting players. MP is doing okay, we won't be anywhere near relegation with him, but not sure he is much more than a, say, Steve McClaren with a more exciting name. A functional, technocrat, cautious "coach's coach". We will click over a few games this season: For example, Liverpool away I think is a perfect fixture for us - footballing side/away/no expectation/they're due a loss. So winnable. Overall, we will be fine. Just not amazing.

We weren't better than Arsenal this time last season.

I object strongly to everything about this ridiculous idea. To demonstrate my objection, I will be donating fifty quid to Huffton immediately.

Loved watching that. What a team, what a brilliant kit too. Nice route one goal as well, Colin Clarke knocking on to Rideout. Hooooof my son. Don't knock it.

Possibly the most disgusting paragraph I have ever read in the English language. How does Mark Lawrenson sleep at night? Let's pray for Rickie Lambert's family tonight.
-
Why? He's earning double that now.
-
And in contrast you are getting sharper and more perceptive every day. We've all noticed.
-
....if you look for it, you'll find it, Alpine. By the way, Do you want us to qualify for Rio now, then? You do seem to change your position on that quite a lot.
-
Personally, I think Tony Daley or Andy Sinton would have added another dimension to the team this evening.
-
Hmmm. You do need to actually win against someone other than Moldova and San Marino, Roy.
-
If we crawl off the pitch with a point we've done well. Pretty dreadful stuff.
-
No. It's not offensive....it's meaningless. Just like "he's like one of us/not like a pampered premadonna/breath of fresh air" stuff we've had, the "positive" angle on exactly the same theme. It's really not negative, just a story. Anyway. Who cares. Game on.

Amazing you even need to point this out to people, TDD. It's a sensational new m-board viewpoint - if you are good in the league then you'll be good internationally because it's, like, easier and that. Such a pity no one told John Barnes. Or the tens, probably hundreds of English players for whom this hasn't been the case over the last thirty years.

...how is Greg Dyke's speech, or your rant about "the future" relevent to the discussion of tonight's England Senior Team?
-
Someone tell Cortese to shut that effing Academy down. Waste of time.
-
Well, it's nothing more than debatable, except the "he's not the future" bit which is just true. Andy Carroll can and has scored against the "glory teams" in the Premier League too. No one is "deeming" anyone capable of anything. But it seems unlikely Lambert is going to turn into an international superhero from here. I'm enjoying his cameo thus far.

This. Easy roll over against a bunch of prehistoric hoofing hoofers "managed" by a clueless dinosaur. 1-1.
-
Can you explain what bit of that article demonstrates the media being "hell bent on English failure"? Seriously, pick a sentence. Or two if you like. I honestly cannot see what is wrong with that piece. If an almost indentical article was written about Wellbeck or Andy Carroll people on here would point to it as another example of "the media" overhyping average England players.

Mirror: Meet Tommy Forecast, the £20million non-league goalkeeper
CB Fry replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Sorry this all just exists in your head. Total fantasy. Forecast was no more "bigged up" than any player we have ever signed ever. Lee Holmes was the next Robben FFS. Forren was going to play against Everton the following day. Gazzaniga? Hyped up. Mayuka? Mark Paul? Perry Groves? Lee Todd? Ramires? Any player under any regime ever. Hyped up. And it was Tommy who said other clubs were interested in him, not the evil Saints media machine. Keep frothing over Tommy Forecast. Keep frothing. -
Top, top class m-boarding. The whole world's media is against us. Rickie Lambert is the greatest footballer ever born and should start every single England game from now until his retirement. My favourite bit was the rant about England only pick players from top five teams, which quickly turned into a rant about another player who will get picked who isn't from a top five team. Exceptional.

Mirror: Meet Tommy Forecast, the £20million non-league goalkeeper
CB Fry replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Are you sure about this? Or is it just part of the frothing-at-the-mouth myth-making and bile that surrounds a kid goalkeeper who turned out to be not quite good enough? -

Except, of course, we didn't swap Bale for Forecast.
