Just out of interest, which kits are you including in these thirteen years? All I can think of is the white shoulders Man U style kit, which was what 2 seasons. And the Hummel Denmark one which did have stripes. That was two seasons. So I make that four. Where are these other nine seasons when we didn't wear red and white stripes?
-
Well yes. We should have. But maybe there is some consolation that we will be the only team in world football in an all red kit. Go us.
-
Nah. It's definitely the people in that queue.
-
True. I'm a bit fed up with contributing on this thread so I think I'll stop. I think I have said my piece in my first post. I think it is terrible. That's it. I am allowed that opinion. The hysteria on both sides is hilarious and pathetic. But the Cult of Cortese response is funnier as just demonstrated.

Our new kit is not moving with the times. Seriously, its just a slightly different design than usual. Its being turned into far more than it is. And you're the one making some kind of link between being promoted and having a new kit. No one is saying they would rather be L1 in stripes but didn't stop you making a stupid point.
-
What a load of utter guff. So are you saying that the red kit will keep us up and boring old stripes will see us relegated? What if we go back to stripes next season? Would that be like signing Beattie and dwelling on the past?

Reading are better equipped for the Premier League than Southampton
CB Fry replied to Elmore's topic in The Saints
Three league titles in a row suggest otherwise. -
Sales will be as much to do with us being Premier League than the design. Calm down. We would have had queues just as long for red and white stripes.

I think you've done a twisting job yourself. I never said it wasn't a branding exersize. I said it was rubbish "brand building" and it is. No problem with the posters themselves. But this isn't some cutting edge revolution and this in itself is not going to make us money, as sone are breathlessly claiming. Anyway. Not sure this requires this much debate....!
-
Jesus. You'll be raving about our world class catering next. Saints have done bill board campaigns before, and have done corporate blitz campaigning before. And day trippers to their first game may be slightly more swayed by the performance on the pitch than some flipping posters outside the stadium... So glad you have admitting to over-championing because that's precisely what you've done.
-
Quite. Although as it gets me out of bed on a weekday, brand building in itself is quite interesting.... ....however this is garbage. When building a brand one of the more important things is maximise and exploit the things (brand assets) that make you a brand in the first place. What the club have done is chuck one of our very biggest assets in the bin, making brand building significantly harder. Second, this is decorating our own stadium. The posters look okay but it aint brand building as they will be primarily seen by match going fans, the people that need the least brand building. Nice to see the usual "this is AMAZING" response from the Cult of Cortese but jesus christ a couple of posters round the stadium. Whoopee.
-
Yes . But at no point will it be Sunderland/Stoke's problem which is what you were suggesting.
-
But WE are the "opponent that chooses" to have two kits that both clash with existing established home kits. If it is a problem (unclear if it is) it's our problem.
-
Someone said Sunderland haven't realised their kit yet. What if it is red and white halves? They might be as cutting edge and innovative as us this season.
-
So our away kit is white then? Not white-and-red stripes?
-
Oh dear. MLG's little world just caved in.
-
It's barely red and white, which is kind of everyone else's point.
-
I'm with you. Shi te pointless tournament, a completely contrived team with a terrible coach in charge. Beckham should be there. Frankly that was the only interesting thing about the team.
-
Agree with this. Someone said it was inspirational earlier - it aint - but by the same token it isn't unispiring either. Just a kit.
-
Say what you see. Well done.
-
Which one? I'm on my phone. Our kit is all red, shorts and socks (white band on sock, granted).
-
I"d agree with this too. We've gone for all red which I dont think we've ever been and really doesn't feel like us. I like black shorts and white socks. I think people need to stop saying its red and white stripes. Like it or not, It's all red. Liverpool didn't where 'stripes' when they had that same kit in the eighties. Pinstripes are barely stripes and on the pitch and on TV we're going to be all red. Oh well. We'll get used to it.
-
Hilarious. People like you are getting far more agitated about those people not liking it than people who don't like the shirt. Calm down you nutcase.
-
Well done the lamest provaction yet. This isn't 1896. And seriously stop overplaying the negative reaction. Some people don't like it. Get over it.
