  1. No obviously not. Pace plus skill, for the avoidance of any unlikely doubt
  2. Yes agreed but it is also very helpful for going past players and getting into positions behind them. We have very few players who can do this, or even try. Jay Rod does occasionally, as he the nearest we have to someone with pace. Luke was pretty reluctant last night, but i put that down to the full back being just as quick as him. Our plan A is to pass around people and constantly probe for an opening. We need a plan B too
  3. The lack of a different plan worries me most - and for that, the most obvious solution (though not the only one) is pace. We saw what a very limited Villa side did to us and pace was a key factor. Yes, great finishing helps but we dont have anyone that can offer genuine pace, from the bench or otherwise.
  4. Given the abuse for GR and DO on here, Spurs fans must be screaming to get rid of Lamela then (1 goal, 2 assists) or Soldado (4 goals, 2 assists). Make our purchases look cheap
  5. The answer is yes.
  6. Fair enough. Lallana (almost hero status with the fans, quite rightly) was hard working / loyal last season and got the same goals and assists as GR, who managed to achieve the same while "not being bothered". Hats off to him then
  7. Am training down from London tomorrow with two mates who are Villa fans (dont worry, they will be in the away end) and they are already feeling a lot more optimistic than they were on Sunday morning. I dont know how to call this one but have a feeling it will be close
  8. Ditto me. I knew Trevor Birch well so when he was appointed as MD, I managed to get fairly regular invites to sit with some of the board members like the FD, plus a few other guests. Food was excellent, the alcohol welcome and I used to see quite a few of their well known players, either injured or past players back for some games. The majority of people there were purely there to be seen, or glad hand, and barely watched the matches. After attending about 8 or 9 games, including v Barca when Ronaldino gave a master class, my invites dried up when they finally twigged that I was actively supporting whoever they were playing...
  9. Sadly I think you are right. I read your post top to bottom but strangely I could not find your view on Gaston anywhere. Sorry
  10. Several players looked off the pace / wilted in the 2nd half yesterday. No great blame, we were under a ton of pressure. But with 3 games in 6 days, and Villa being the weakest - relatively - of the three, I would not be surprised if he gets a game
  11. Statistics eh? So you have not noticed our overall goal scoring record then? 18 in 18 since April, only Sunderland have scored less. No one scores very many for us, end of. As others have said, half his games have been on his own, away, against some of the top teams. He was not ready for the Hull team when we scored for fun (for the first time this season, though we threatened to against Fulham)
  12. Surprised only one mention of Ronnie Ekelund in the thread. He would make my line up, along with MLT (who rated Ekleund as his most skilful team mate) and then one from KK / Beats / Pahars. Making way - J Rod, SRL, and JWP
  13. Definitely nothing whatsoever to do with Harry, Milan, PFC or anyone or thing connected to them, in any way. Just to clear that up in the unlikely event anyone was unsure.
  14. Is that a yes or a no? PS I think that there may just be more to a quality of life measure than shopping. Not that its relevant to attendances IMHO
  15. Can anyone say that we dont get jcls, or floods of skilled foreigners who have settled in the beautiful south, packing out St Marys?

    Diego

no signings in January I thought, so would be next summer if at all
  17. Carbs confirmed as opening - but fielding in 11 mins! Get in
  18. I knew this would happen #ITK
  19. Yeah right. Too big for my parking or I would have one. Merc is a blast thanks, stick to pipe and slippers car though
  20. Love it - praises what we are doing hugely without giving even an iota of insight into what that is. Top journo this
  21. Ramirez just came on (72 mins). Uruguay just gone 3-0 up. Although Jordan have had most possession in the 2nd half, it is pretty one sided
  22. I have a C250 Coupe. Range had a makeover mid last year, got one not long after that. Pros: Just enough "aggressive" style without being too obvious, great compromise between relaxed comfortable quiet drive and sporty, firmer, pushing on when needed. Auto 7G box is a gem, with conventional and steering wheel paddle manual options if needed. Interior -straight from the new E class - is excellent. Great seats. Not that many around, less than BMW for sure Cons: not class leading on mpg or emissions (but both plenty enough for me); some say BMW drives more dynamically but I think you may need to drive it pretty hard to notice; power from equivalent engines in BMW and Audi is higher
  23. A slightly different tack from others, and all the better for it. cheers
