  1. Sorry mate, my argument does stand up. I have hit the tarmac on a scooter. My Lambretta threw me off once coming out of a corner. It was all very civilised. Don't knock it until you've tried it. Scooters, I mean. You can scoot round the falling off.

  3. I suppose I'd be considered a tree-hugger in certain circles [this one], and I do get it. We certainly do NOT want BP going down the drain. The USA has no moral monopoly over environmental disasters. This one just happens to be on their doorstep, which is why they are kicking up a stink. For those that haven't followed the efforts to contain the oil spillage and stop the leakage, here's a very quick and concise demo: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/us_and_canada/10317116.stm
  4. Ah, you just don't get it mate. I know what these mod scooter people are on about, even though I'm a confirmed rocker motorcyclist. Scooters are fun. It's basically very clean two-wheeled transport with bags of character, and with no need to wear special protective clothing. Go out in your zoot suit, stick a crash helmet on, turn the key, kickstart and away. It has it's attractions, and a good scooter actually handles quite well. Mind you, if I'd passed my test on a 500, I'd be riding a motorbike.
  5. As far as traditional scooters are concerned, there's nothing like a Lambretta. I had a GP125DL, and it really flew and was utterly reliable. 70mph from a 125cc scooter in the late-70's was excellent. Plus, the mechanical engineering was superb. Just think, everything within the engine was lubricated by a 50:1 petroil mix. And the little motors lasted too.
  6. No Stu. People are acknowledging the fact that the Saints announcements are at 11.15pm and the Daily Echo goes to print at 11.00pm. What they are also saying, is that they don't give a toss. The Echo could always delay their printing schedule.
  7. Sure SS. Let's cut the bullsh!te and call it the First Division amd our club is in the Third.
  8. I wrote reams, and then got rid of it. Michelle was describing a typical MotoGP race. For seasons, every race was packed with excitement. But you're right, not recently. I suspect you have to be a biker to enjoy them properly.
  9. Seems like a MotoGP race you're describing. I saw the race LIVE, and you're right it was pretty good, especially for an F1 race.
  10. The fact that Heskey has ANY caps, let alone 50, is a complete and utter mystery to me. But there's no doubt he was the best player the other night for England. Well, for 5 minutes anyway. Sadly, that just shows how pants England were. Oops we've nearly turned this into a World Cup forum thread.
  11. The Big Match - South DVD. Easy to miss, I suppose as the original link says Crystal Palace and not Saints. They just happened to be one of the teams on the DVD. It features the famous 4-1 win at OT with all goals scored by Ron Davies, plus The Big Match interview [the one that used to be on Youtube, but isn't anymore] the next day with Ron and Jimmy Hill. Ron mentions the 4-4-2 formation and Jimmy Hill says 4-4-2..? This was still in an era of 2-3-5. There are 3 other Saints matches, and 16 overall, but you won't care about the other 12. Well you might.
  12. Ch4 are doing the 100 most shocking moments. It actually looks like the same people being interviewed, or even the same programme with 50 extra moments. Schumacher's foul was featured at No.49. Looking at it again, it looks like an assasination attempt, rather than a block. I didn't know it, but Schumacher offered to pay for Battiston's capped teeth. That's the first time I've ever heard reports that he might have been slightly responsible. People may forget, that not only wasn't Schumacher sent off or booked, but it was signalled a goal-kick because Battiston touched the ball last. Significantly, Schumacher never got near it.

  14. Saw the game earlier. The Germans were predictable. They played well. That's how predictable they were.
  15. Well we all like to see an upset, but what's the betting Germany beat Australia predictably and reasonably efficiently..?

  17. Wasn't considered the best keeper in League One by one or two pundits, so there was little chance of him being the best overall. Mind you, I don't remember him letting in a single soft goal, all season.
  18. And yet, for a little while, Heskey was England's best player. Which illustrates how poor England were. England's only decent, and quite slick, move involved Heskey and Gerrard, which brought the goal. Apart from that, there was virtually nothing.
  19. No, they were just wearing a sash.
  20. Apparently it was an improvement on recent performances.
  21. OK, I'll rephrase it then. Italy tend to win when they are expected to. But they also tend to win when they aren't expected to, which nowadays isn't that often. Don't get me wrong, I really want England to win. I'm just fed up with years of them tripping over their own mistakes and poor performances. You and I know that England should be wiping the floor with the USA. But at 19.30 this evening, I knew they'd make heavy weather of it.
  22. Lampard..!?! You don't even expect a League Two player to blaze over a free-kick nowadays. I'm getting too involved.
  23. I can see a 1-1 result here. or even a 1-2, with the usual dreadful post-mortem wondering why star players can't play anywhere near to their club level. It's so much more predictable when I watch Italy play. They just win.
  24. We can blame a lot of things on that ball, but that's reaching.
