  1. Did anyone notice that Lambert was given as official MOTM..?
  2. No it wasn't just you. He's normally quite even handed, when commenting on Saints. Much better than say... a Lawrenson or Hansen. But I also thought he was being uncharacteristically uncharitable. To be fair, the SKY commentators, during the LIVE commentary, were saying similar things, but adding in the praise where it was due, too. I think Claridge did mention what a good side Saints were a few times, but it always sounded as if he was reluctant to admit it. There you go, not perfect. Take him away and replace him with someone who is acceptable.
  3. There was one moment where Carlisle got down the flank, after Harding took a corner. Their keeper caught it and quickly threw it to a forward, who clipped it past our last defender. It was only the speed of the defence coming back, and the Carlisle forward's inability to find his teammate steaming in that stopped a potential goal. Not really a mistake by Harding, but the only time I remember them getting any change out of him. Of course, the goal came from a free kick in his area. People on here have been less than glowing about Mills. No, he isn't as good as Harding, but I thought he came in and played very well.
  4. I can see here that we're just going to continue to get people writing... yes, the boos were for Malwhinney, but Cortese was on the screen... and others are going to be writing... no, the boos were for Cortese as well... Can we just accept that, in the main, the boos were for Malwhinney, but maybe Cortese got a few of his own, from a few idiots who should know better..? If nobody booed we wouldn't get these issues being thrown up.
  5. on BBC iPlayer too: http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b00rs125/Football_League_Trophy_Highlights/
  6. Nah, there was a really good one around, about 2-3 years ago. Never see it now. It used to get the sarcastic/fed-up look just right.
  7. Have we got that long..?
  8. Are you honestly telling me that pic is new to you so you thought you'd share it..? Where's the proper eye rolly emoticon when you need it..?
  9. No I don't think I am, going on the brain test results. Are you sure you don't see anything similar in them..? I bloody well do. Mind you, that's not the best video to illustrate, but it was the only one I could find quickly. I'm not for a moment saying Antonio is comparable, just that he is similar in style.
  10. Agreed [about Papa Waigo]. And name me another player, with his chance sniffing ability, in the side. There isn't one.
  11. Puh..! My old football eyes aren't that bad.
  12. The Autoroutes are brilliant roads with barely any roadworks on them because they do their small maintenance work overnight [gosh, what a good idea], and they don't take up half the motorway with cones that have been there for 3 months either side of the work schedule. Which means that you can really shoot through the country on them, and cut down on the journey time. However, having said that, the traffic gendarmes are pretty hot on the on-the-spot-fine front [*cough*, so I'm told], and you'd be missing out on some cracking countryside too, by not taking the time to mix it up. For my money, I'd take the time on the outward journey, then blast back to the north, on the return. You can always slow it up should you want to. For me, with what you are upto, the North of France is the missable bit because, let's face it, the South is where you want to be. And you can always take in the north's sights, like Paris, Chartres Cathedral, St Malo, Mont Saint Michel, Normandy beaches, etc.. on day/shorter trips.
  13. Just click the link and watch the similarities unfold.
  14. It wouldn't be Wembley if it wasn't a heavy, energy sapping pitch.
  15. Forgot to mention this earlier, but having remembered, while watching the highlights programme a little earlier, I thought I'd share it. All season, when I've managed to see Antonio in action, he has occasionally vaguely reminded me of a certain famous player from the past, and I could never pin him down. Today, I got it. Antonio did a few runs with the ball and I was powerfully reminded who it was... Don't laugh..! of Brazil. You think I'm kidding..? I'm not. Same build, Same stoop over the ball, Same leg cadence when running. Hopefully one day, same effectiveness.
  16. That Papa Waigo dance video has been around for ages. They bloody love him in Italy, espcially at Fiorentina. You can find plenty of comments asking for him to return. Of course, he just might. It's a damn sight warmer in Italy. I'd certainly rather he stayed though. Great character.
  17. I don't know. I don't think it has been arranged, in any case. Mind you, Saints seem to be paying for everything of late. I notice even that Lee Molyneux's loan out to Port Vale has been made possible because Saints are paying all his wages. Port Vale get a free player, and we get a better, match fitter one if, or when, he returns. I suspect the first we'll see of the JPFL Trophy in Southampton will be on the pitch at St Marys. Oops, nearly forgot. Thank you Markus, Nicola, Alan and everyone else responsible for making this season the most enjoyable one at Saints for quite a few years.
  18. Thought the ref used his noodle though in not sending off the player. In the strict ruling, he should have, but it would have finished the whole thing off as a contest, and diluted the match win. Brought back memories of Claus and Henry in the first minute of the 2003 FAC Final.
  19. His goal celebration is quite celebrated in itself. I believe it is meant to be a deadman's walk, because he usually ends it with a chop to the neck. I don't think he's referring to himself or a mythical striker, but the other team. Basically, he's killed them with a goal. Which is usually true. Glad someone found out about the t-shirt because I was wondering about that too.
  20. Yes, enjoyed that.
  21. That's very kind, ART. I've been going to the S of France since the mid-80's. Nearly bought a tiny farm near St Ambroix back in 1986, but was talked out of doing by friends who wondered why on earth I should do such a thing. In those days I didn't have the perfectly good countering argument of why not..? As you know, it's a beautiful area, and I certainly wouldn't mind retiring there in 20 or so years, perhaps with a boat or canoe for my leisure time. As for holidays, it's a brilliant place for driving to, and around, whether in a car, or campervan, or on a motorcycle [my choice]. A lot of Camp/Tent holiday companies, like Eurocamp and Keycamp, do business down there and it works very well.
  22. I'll be tuning into CH4's pathetically short highlights programme some time this week, if I can stay up late enough, and if they can be bothered to transmit it.
