  1. 1. Lovren: I think Fonte, Yoshida and Hooiveld can all look decent when paired with Lovren. When paired with each other they work less well... 2. Boruc: much better than his backup (bless 'im) 3. Morgan: We know that Cork can work with Morgan, but Cork and Wanayama has not really had time to play together Our starting XI really is one of the better in the PL, but our squad lacks depth compared to some of the established top teams. Injuries could really slow down our progress, but that goes for all but a few of the teams in the league...
  2. The video is brilliant. I love seeing Guly, Kelvin, Butterfield, Connolly (yes!), Hammond, Fonte etc. just oozing the same confidence that the present team does. Maybe because the present top PL team IS largely the same band of lower league players from back then - what are they feeding those guys?! Videos like these are something that fans of the "top teams" will never have. A crazy and chaotic journey down and up through the leagues that gives us a different perspective from the other top teams in the PL. For them it's business as usual - will we get a CL place, will we finish above our rivals? To us it's just überlolz all the way... And yes, MBS called it: that 2nd goal was almost a copy of Jay Rods from the weekend!
  3. Just watched the extended highlights on Saints Player (18m12s) - Saints were amazing and Fulham were clueless! Really worth a watch if you are a subscriber... - Lambert was immense. As a target man, as a playmaker, as a goal threat etc. - everything worked for him. - Clyne skinned Richardson by sheer pace on a number of occasions - scary for the Fulham defender to face such a lightning bolt! - Ward-Prowse fits well into the system with his great work rate, and his set pieces are just a bonus that has added extra bite to our corners and free kicks. - Morgan and Vic seem to be gaining a good understanding - give them a few more months together and we may see them improve even further. - Jay Rodriguez may never become the great goalscorer (then again he could be lethal with a little more composure in front of goal), but he adds so much to the team. His inclusion at the expense of Ramirez, Guly, Puncheon etc. is entirely justified IMHO with his exceptional work rate and versatility. Also, where did those mazy runs and that Delap'ish shot come from?! There will be off days in the future, but for now I just really enjoy this culmination of the project that was started in L1 in 2009... Oh, and the detail with Parker showing Berbatov who to mark only for him to abandon his duties was hilarious - tells everything about the difference between the two teams. Our players have accepted the tactics and style that demands a lot and really takes its toll. Berbatov seems to play for... Berbatov...
  4. Oh yes, I forgot to mention the very obvious: another clean sheet to our impressive collection. Best defense in the league so far!
  5. Amazing. One of the most convincing Saints matches I can remember - L1 included! Beforehand this was a potential banana skin for the Pochettino side that plays with high intensity and drills out great results but somehow has a tendency to switch off when we are favorites. Not today, sir, no. From the kickoff it was apparent that we (cliche alert) wanted it more and we looked really energetic and well organized. Danish commentators were praising us for a full 90 minutes commenting on players, manager, youth players, fans etc. - as someone wrote earlier it was almost embarrassing Everyone played their part to perfection, MP included. We decided to go for the jugular and kill of the game as quickly as possible, so for the second half we could lower the intensity a bit and save some energy. Even Barca has found out that the high pressing game will wear out players so they play with greater variation under Martino - presumably to keep the players sharp. We've seen the same from the Saints where some games we do not press so ruthlessly or at least so consistently. Today we went full throttle for 45 minutes and reaped the rewards. Afterwards the task was to maintain the lead without burning out. In that respect it was a job done to perfection. After 70-80 minutes players were still fresh enough to chase the ball deep (JWP was immense - that boy can RUN!) and go on mazy runs (JRod and Lallana). I wanted to say that we've turned a corner today, but really it's just my faith in the team that has. NC, MP and the players will tell you that they have believed all along
  6. Convince yourself that the building of new muscle in the thigh/knee is worth it. Can really compensate for any weaknesses inside the knee if the thigh muscle is well trained and keeping everything in place. Other than that: find a good tv show and relax
  7. Great point especially with the late equaliser. Respect to Dr. Who and LeicesterSaint for calling out the goal when we were frustrated and obviously Bexy for the best use of nun I've seen for ages. Well played! There is still room for improvement but it is nice to play at OT and not just be lambs to the slaughter. This team - with it's strengths and weaknesses - is the real deal!
  8. No, David. Just no...
  9. And here is his "assist" for Aquilani: [video=youtube_share;Ri16llJfF_A]http://youtu.be/Ri16llJfF_A
  10. Osvaldo heavily involved in an equaliser that crashes Denmark out of the qualifiers. His shot is deflected by a team mate and into the empty goal... 2-2!
  11. 2-1 Denmark with a goal from Bendtner. Osvaldo seems to get a full 90 minutes...
  12. Perfect for me if we can win while Osvaldo scores! 1-1 now and we've hit the post and the crossbar...
  13. Guys in post #122 og #124 agree with you!
  14. I can only agree with this. Fox, Guly and others were good players for us in a unique transformation period of SFC. Even those who think he is not an adequate backup in the PL should support him - what has he done to deserve getting booed at? Will it improve his game when he acts as backup for Shaw?
  15. Loosely related to this story is the "Saints aim for CL this season" that came from interviews with Wanyama, Boruc, Pochettino and? If someone could provide the background for those quotes, I would be grateful. I keep running into the "Ha ha, Saints think they will finish 4th this season", and I'm quite sure that it is nowhere near what our players have said - afair they all said some time in the future. What annoys me is that it gives journalists an opportunity to ask other managers etc. questions about our present CL-ambitions to make the story spin out of control: http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11700/8957697/swansea-boss-michael-laudrup-questions-southampton-ambitions
  16. HA! This story was just posted on the largest Danish footy site and the angle was that Osvaldo wanted to go home to Argentina now. The first 4 comments were along the lines of "what an idiot", "you signed for them yourself" etc., but from then on, someone posted a link to the Sky Sports article and questioned the validity of the Danish article (lifted off Daily Mail etc without checking the original source). A lot of posters then disapproved and 2 minutes ago the article disappeared from the site. WIN!
  17. Dr. Kucho messed it up in Post #34
  18. I don't believe in jinxes so here goes: I agree and I think we're doing quite well, but it's not the easiest approach to endure as a supporter; you'd much prefer us to go and score a second
  19. I bet he knew that very well, sneaky bear...
  20. I'm considering going to see UK band "ahab" as they play in Aalborg in a month or so. Has anyone on here heard anything about them? Preferably something nice
  21. The Hagiologists's effort is one of those things that separates Saints from other clubs. Can't wait to get my hands on their latest effort!
  22. I agree - I just wanted to point towards the old thread to show that there is extensive support for the first few comments in this thread. I too hope SuperKev gets a good reception at SMS
