I’ve been one of the biggest che adams haters in the last few years .. but even by my standards I think the forum is going a little too far now in how useless he is .. i don’t really like to count sub appearances as proper starts when using stats che has started 9 times che has scored 4 which isn’t all that bad for someone who’s finishing is pretty crap .. as usual the he isn’t starting so must be completely shit brigade are going over the top though.. Martin has him as more of a squad option this season and probably rightly so but I think it’s getting slightly exaggerated now that he’s been totally totally shocking 4 goals in 9 starts isn’t as bad as people are making out .. as I said I’m not a fan
-
The people who think we should get rid of sulemana are nuts imo .. he has the highest ceiling of anyone in our entire squad .. fastest player at World Cup .. great dribbling skills he has amazing attributes and we should be doing our best to shape him into a world class player he’s definitely worth sticking with .
-
Don’t we already look pretty stacked in the wide attack positions ? we have edozie Fraser sulamana .. Sam amo. And even arma for these positions surely is more then enough .. dont thinj our squad needs much surgery really .. maybe a centre forward and a left back and that’s pretty much it
-
Anybody that has doubts should go back and watch some of ings goals again .. he has tons of finishes outside the box. Can curl fifa finesse type shots into the corner .. and he has great instinct and composure to boot .. when we resigned Theo he had lost most of his pace,, still didn’t do bad in the end .. but ings main assets are more about the finishing and instincts I see no reason why this wouldn’t work out just cos he’s pretty much lost his place in a good West Ham side
-
Even if he’s lost a little pace . I’d be surprised if he’s lost his composure and finishing ..seems like a dream signing for championship level
-
Isn’t it nice to have a manager who doesn’t select useless inferior players for off the ball work rate ? Everything is starting to come together nicely now 14 unbeaten and the squad are competing for places .. russ is also doing a great job of getting the best out of players many had written off, the likes of Arma,Aribo, bree all starting to flourish and maybe Mara is next . full credit to the man was looking under pressure to keep his job at the start of the season and look at us now
-
Lol no pleasing some people his best season for us he was up with Kane and aguerro etc and practically golden boot winner (lost out only by not taking penalties) .. People love lambert and pelle but they where no where close to ings at his best
-
Ings was world class for us .. would take him back in a heartbeat ..different level finisher to anyone we had since .. and would surely be class in the championship
-
We had quite a nice settled team before the sulamana injury,, alcaraz as false 9 Pace from sula and arma but this team selection deviated away quite fad from that ., with arribo and adams ., would have preffered to keep it as similar as possible with just Fraser or edozie filling in the injury .. dont know the total stats for this but games that adams starts we don’t seem to be winning
-
More likely to be Charles maybe ? not sure I’d say he’s been great ., but smallbone is pretty key to how we play
-
No Stuart Armstrong or alcaraz ?? Think stuey is maybe our most important player at the moment creativity wise .. I’d go with midfield and attack of smallbone downes stuey Fraser alcaraz arma personally
-
I’m not really comparing him to Niemi rather just pointing out that if we had a keeper like that we wouldn’t be letting in this amount of soft goals .. as far as experience thing if I had my way we wouldn’t keep trying to be clever with kids in goal anyway .. we end up getting punished whilst they are on their learning curve and if he reaches a great standard .he will probably bugger off to a big club anyway .. and I doubt we would even make a big profit as keepers are not usually hugely expensive. Just doesn’t seem worth it to me
-
It’s a bit of both tbh .. which is why this thread is always so busy .. he gets a crap ton of excuses and people defending him too .. just in recent weeks he got done by that by Rotherham goal, the cross that ended up a goal and now this .. would things like these keep happening with Niemi in goal ?
-
It’s not just about making the odd good save though .. or being good with his feet .. he’s just not very trustworthy .. he does let in a lot of weak looking goals. Surprised the amount of praise he gets on here ..he’s not what I’d call a safe pair of hands
-
Not acceptable is a little harsh really.. really we are just paying for that blip at the start of the season when we lost 4 our current form is still superb 12 matches unbeaten the top 4 are being amazingly consistent it feels a bit like what have we got to do to catch up atm .. as long as we in this consistent run of form it’s hard to be mad at them

I quote David in Sweden’s post above which explains it well “ Think you may be a trifle hard on AA ...(CB Fry) there is a lot of difference between playing for 80-90 minutes and wasting chances that come, and the opportunity to even having a chance to score. As an example last season. Adam Armstrong was automatic starter during Ralph's shorter term as a manager and started 11 times in the first 15 games albeit on left wing, (but did score the winning goal v. Chelsea), whereas Che Adams was always the main striker but seldom scored so often. The two subsequent managers disregarded Armstrong as a starting option and he was used as sub. on just 15 games during those remaining games. Closer study showed that around half of those were in the closing 10 minutes and several even in "added time" - not many chances there , and occasionally he had no goal chances at all. There has been an internal debate on here about the effectiveness of Che Adams as a lone striker and even when they both played in the same start side, as it was Che who had (and frequently missed) the most chances, and this was no favour to Armstrong who got less opportunities.”
-
Ah right. So do you think che adams is a better premiership striker whilst arma can only do well in the championship then ? im not sure I buy this actually just cos idiots like Ralph and selles thought so doesn’t make it true.. we saw week in week out what che was.a shitty finisher with some decent ish hold up play.but we never really got to see a Adam Armstrong that got a good run in the team and got his confidence up .. just his pressing, pace, and finishing should see some goal threat imo
-
Yeah agree Martin should take some credit, he’s been the only one to really put full trust in Arma and had the balls to change the pecking order and drop che .. it’s good vision by Martin to see things the previous managers didn’t
-
I still think there’s a good chance he could cut it a prem level. As I said a while ago he never really got a decent run in the prem . In and out of the side .. lost out to broja early on and the manager always preferred che .. makas a ton of difference if the manager fully believes in you, he’s not perfect but he’s rapid enough ,closes down like a train and is a decent finisher
-
He’s really found his mojo again It’s great to see not only is he finishing well his speed of closing down is rapid and causes defenders nightmares .. makes you wonder why he didn’t get more run under Ralph as it’s such a ideal attribute for pressing . bit of a lesson to those who like to criticise our squad players who haven’t had huge runs in the team .. arribo also looked terrific yesterday
-
Personally him being injured is a huge huge blow .. his pace really gives the opposition something to think about, makes their fullbacks scared to attack.. him being in the team has coincided with our great run of form . Gutted he’s out
-
Think sulamana has pretty much better attributes then tella with everything apart from finishing.. but tella is a 20 goal a season guy in the championship .. still think sulamana has more potential though
-
This, seems crazy to see complaints about Martin right now after a long unbeaten run like this .. and after having to endure the likes of Ralph and selles picking dross like elyounoussi and such for off the ball crap russ’s Team selections seem flawless .. Happy with him and if we continue like this we can grind down the top two
-
Don’t know why I bother expecting this anymore but I really hope we pretty much put our foot down and shut up shop in January ..we have a decent shot of going up and it would be super annoying to just let decent players leave in the middle of a promotion chase

Sekou Mara - Official: Signs for Strasbourg
pimpin4rizeal replied to SuperSAINT's topic in The Saints
Totally agree, everyone was saying how shit arma was too before russ gave him a consistent run and Mara has had even less chances he showed some flashes of being decent Also gotta factor in we where totally shit last season
