Isn’t that always the saintsweb way? the players who can’t get in the team are always shit. even edozie was being talked down as not being ready before Jones started playing him from the start.. mara is another one we don’t really know how good he is because he’s been mostly on the bench.. I’d be very very surprised if he’s not better then Adam Armstrong though
-
I might be in the minority here but I’m happy to give Nj a chance theres already a few promising signs, one of them being he has already fully unleashed Edozie something Ralph seemed unwilling to do bar the odd sub cameo.. Jones already has edozie looking our main attacking threat and he looks great. i would also say our attacking looks slightly better under Jones there was some nice interplay vs Fulham again a lot of it going through edozie but also maybe due to less Ralphball sideways passing crap and more direct not having a lot of possession can sometimes be a good thing as you get more space on the break. Also think he sounds more truthfull then RH who a lot of the time sounded like a club mouthpiece. With bullshit like he didn’t want a big squad etc.. Jones sounds more like he will say if the players don’t suit which puts more pressure on the board luke koeman used to.. End of the day he’s here now do we really want to make a tough job even harder by putting a ton of pressure on the man? Let’s get behind him for now !

Understand opening Southampton bid for Mislav Oršić has been rejected by Dinamo Zagreb. #SaintsFC will have to up their offer in order to strike a deal. Interest in Lorient frontman Terem Moffi & Racing Club midfielder Carlos Alcaraz is concrete but other clubs also in mix.“ do we ever learn.. guy looks perfect and here we are lowballing them.. ffs
-
Or just come back on February 1st to find out we didn’t sign a striker.. but at least we got 2 more Cbs and a 17yo Rb
-
It’s getting so bad you actually wonder if the clowns in charge have even the slightest clue. its true we have needed a striker since broja left.. and here we are window is open now.. no signings yet obviously as it would be unsaintly to do business early like wolves and Liverpool did…and here we are looking at the one position that doesn’t need strengthening with talk of recalling bednarek and now mason holgate who is also no better then we have already and is bang average.. I mean Jesus Christ what is the matter with them????the whole fanbase knows we need a damn striker and after that a creative player and after that a physical dm. Another average centre back is the last thing we need
-
Tbh not really blown away with watching some videos of him.. I feel quite on the fence with him, wouldn’t say his shooting technique looks anything to write home about. I know it’s the championship but I think gyokeres looks a lot more impressive from video scouting 😕
-
Agree a lot with this could also be due to formation Imo .. we always used a two man cm which can leave us a bit exposed especially when the cm is as lightweight as ours.
-
Would take him back as a option .. but not if it means taking him instead of new signings ..we need a striker. And a creative attacker.. don’t mind bringing him back but not at the expense of either of those signings
-
Wolves just managed to sign cunha whilst bottom of the league why is it one rule for them and another for us .. I mean people are talking like no one will sign for us ?
-
Vitinha guy from braga looks a good shout for the striker.. don’t really wanna go championship but if we do much prefer gyokeres over Dias .. jesper karlsson looks interesting for the creative player and looks like he has goals in him to and if we can get those two positions sorted then a real physical powerful cm would be nice

Not often I agree with lighthouse but I agree with this,, we have been penny pinching for too long and it’s finally caught up with us.. like I was saying in the sports republic thread we are purchasing the same priced players we were when we got promoted in the 12-17 m kinda range mostly. Clubs we were at one point competing with are way past that now .. west ham and Leicester are buying players worth 35-40m up whilst we are buying 10 m youngsters.. our transfer policy has stood still You can blame it on recruitment but if you cannot see we are at a disadvantage because of this I don’t know what to tell you.. we could scout the same player but if the likes of Leicester are in for him too he will go there like James Maddison did. also agree that Brentford and Brighton will only keep this going for so long too.. eventually the clubs with more ambition will pick you apart, and even if you have a genius transfer recruiter like Mitchell they will poach him too eventually .. it’s unsustainable unless you have owners who can compete financially ..and you cannot really expect all our recruitment to be hits when we are shopping at a major disadvantage to most of the other teams in the league .

Really ? Ralph was crap and we won about four games out of twenty something and have been absolutely awful for nearly two years under him.. this is pretty much Ralph’s team which he has presided over and installed the loser behaviour into .. a lot of you still defended Ralph after 2 9-0 rapings and about two years of hideous form whilst also picking crap players for off the ball work.. and farming out More skillfull players as I said before Jones wouldn’t of been my choice either but you can’t just expect him to come in and wave a magic wand and everything to be amazing all of a sudden. there was much more shocking performances under Ralph like the Leicester and Man Utd rapings yet people crying over a 3-1 loss to a really good Brighton side after bazunu gave away two goals! give the guy a break
-
I mean he wouldn’t of been my choice either but he’s here now so we may as well give him a chance.. don’t really agree with Ralph polishing a turd comments either Ralph was as stubborn as fuck and never learned.. same awfull choices every week like anything differant was ever gonna happen .. Even though we don’t really have a lot of time Jones seems open to changing things and making plenty of tactical switches which is refreshing at least.. our owners dug is in this hole by not filling the attacking positions we needed in the summer properly now it’s gonna be difficult for anoyone to do a job with until we get some reinforcements
-
This thread seems very harsh .. ok he made a couple of weird decisions like lyanco over ABK etc but at least we tried a couple of new things and edozie looked bright.. im more mad at bazunu who gifted them a two goal lead then Jones personally after his first fuck up we were up against it
-
I’m just hoping nj will embrace the attacking players with a bit of creativity.. otherwise we may have well have kept Ralph .. I think it’s pretty obvious to most of us stuey and edozie bring more creativity then the starters.. these two need to be starting .if nj is another of these managers that is obsessed with off the ball I think I’m gonna lose the will.. it’s a bit worrying since his first two line ups still feature moi
-
I think we should give Jones a chance with the 3412 if that’s what he wants to use. It’s a formation he used a lot at Luton so I’m up for letting him play this if it’s his way .. Main thing I wanna see is change Be that in formation or personnel…. I want Jones to bring fresh ideas not the same old shit and elyounoussi every week or we may as well have kept Ralph I actually think this formation is absolutely tailor made for Stuart Armstrong as a central playmaker/10 like absolutely ideal for him.. he good carrying the ball forward pretty intelligent And can also make late runs into the box and has a shot on him… so if we gonna roll with this formation Armstrong could really benefit Quote

He said something along the lines of how quick we make our transfers could depend on how fast Newcastle make theirs as we have strong interest in a couple of theirs.. im guessing wood and fraser.. for me I guess wood could be ok probably better then what we have but not that likely to turn into a world beater .. id probably rather we go for vitinha or someone like that, reminds me more of ramos higher ceiling then wood potentially..
-
With pilchards seeming itk with the nj appointment wood seems a likely target.. also a player that has scored double digits every year for Burnley in a team that didn’t create a lot Is probably also the kind of metric sports republic could like .. how would you guys feel about this ?
-
I wasn’t talking about if the players are successful or failures, but surely you can see the difference in spending power and ambition.clubs we used to be on a par with or above like West Ham, Leicester, villa etc. are purchasing players over double the price of our record signings.. we have stood still on what we spend since we got promoted whilst a lot of other teams in the league have moved way past that now the gulf is growing between us and the midtable clubs so much our best players could be going to them in the future.. it’s sticking your head In the sand to think we are competing with these clubs ambition wise or are spending like a midtable club.
-
Mid table clubs like West Ham are spending 45m upwards on players like Paquetá.. we are still shopping in the same price range we was when we first got promoted.. all our buys 10-15m kinda range. I don’t think it’s midtable budget really we just a bought a bunch of cheap players with not many outgoing when saints and West Ham got promoted we were probably not too far away from them with the level of players we would go for but the divide between mid table clubs and us is starting to get quite large now ..
-
Feel a bit meh on sports republic really so far. What we have here feels like a slight upgrade on gao which isn’t really what is needed.. what we needed was a owner that could be ambitious enough to compete with mid table ish clubs like West Ham villa maybe Leicester etc..still feels like we are trying to compete on a shoestring and I don’t think this multi club idea is going to be anything comparable to redbull.. don’t wanna sound entitled but unless your owners are willing to compete with the mid table sides financially I don’t see much more joy then we had with gao tbh
-
But this is pretty much down to redmond being a Ralph favourite so getting constant starts and being one of the first names on the sheet(undeservedly) boufal never really got a constant run in the side going ..
-
Don’t care what anyone says he absolutely pisses over redmond and always did.. I kinda hate hasenhuttl for decisions like getting rid of him and gabbi.. both are a country mile better then anything we have currently ironically for a manager that was so anti talent and only interested in off the ball rubbish.. we still couldn’t defend for shit

Can anyone post the interview ?
