I wonder if Gassama was one of our scouted players when Martin was here
-
If they have the money and believe they can sell the players it’s a cash flow issue. If they don’t believe they can shift the players sitting tight makes sense till shifting some. Situation feels a bit confused when saying they want players. I think boss said in interview that we would only bring couple in till shifting unwanted players. Big question is are they missing out on the desired targets with this strategy.

I still can’t get used to the constant churn of players that seems to happen every year. Each season change feels much more revolution than evolution. I would like to really get hold of a great nucleus of players that we can build and develop. To do this means we don’t sell anyone that shows any sign of being decent and the younger set we buy we develop over a couple of seasons without writing them off early. Itmust be almost as impossible for a manager of saints with constant churn as it is for us saints fans watching and hoping the shit cycle ends

I think we solved that one last year about the away fans. Give them a great day out and 3 points and we are doing our best this year by extending Jacks contract and by putting Bazuna back in goal -
If we signed him I think we would give it a go…
-
Every manager we’ve had seems to have to go through the same learnings about skills and capability of this group. The fans already know and we see the rehash of the same performances

Same ingredients produce the same results. Chef will not make a difference on his own

Martin did say at the fans forum that if he didn’t have Bazunu he would recommend buying him. Let’s hope he’s true to his word

I don’t think I said they have to be for this year only. So you believe that the purchases made so far are for the prem? My point is that the mindset of recruitment should not be only to search for these type of players who are on a very steep learning curve ie be able to perform now and be able to do it at prem level if we get there?
-
Yeah possibly. Not necessarily those two but others have mentioned players from the championship or out of favour prem which could be bought and still have a likelihood of further development. This would give us more certainty in what they can deliver for us this year as well as onwards. Seems to me that we have been buying on mainly development and sell on opportunity. Like was said by someone. We bought Lambert, the best there was to get us up and good enough to stay with us and further develop. He mentions how he was helped to get fitter and better.

Agree with you. Playing football and Watching football for 10’s of years I’ve got a fair idea of what a good player looks like. Everything seems to be too clever now. As somebody said above. Spend the money on quality you know and make them better and you will still make money from it. Buying raw and trying to make super stars seems high risk as has been proven recently. Does seem we are on this journey again with another expert at the top that we rely on.

I think we are in need of major skin grafting -
Damion Downs - Official: Loaned to Hamburg

The past doesn’t mean they will be good for us this year. AA didn’t fizz on loan with WBA. BD didn’t fizz at Sheffield utd. There are a lot of other components as well as experience which will decide whether we are top 3 or not. We have a lot of known unknowns at the moment and recruitment is one of them. -
Think its time to lock this thread to save Saint86 becoming 96

Shocking news. So young and with young family. Bless them all rip

Are we looking at players that will take us up or are these transfer connections the quality to play in prem if we get up? Serious question. It feels to me like another set of bargain young players that we are connected with that are pulled from various lower leagues who will be tested in a very physical league like the championship. I’m hoping that these are Spors and Still’s known first choices and to them great acquisitions. I think it will be interesting how these will fit with whoever is left from the last debacle, and what the overall team profile will be in terms of skills and experience. If these come off it feels like rolling the dice and hoping it’s a six. 🙏🏻🤞🏻
-
Good luck to him. In today’s football world showed loyalty when we needed it and given payback for having faith in him when he was not the most sought after player in his early career
-
What’s the benefit of loaning different young players every year. Lesley clearly started to improve and another year or two would clearly help develop us as a team. A group of revolving youngsters doesn’t really help build us as a football team that is built on any strong consistent foundation. It’s like constantly replacing the foundations of your house whilst trying to build the house.

He couldn’t coach the gk, defence, midfield or attack to be able to achieve what he wanted. He either thought he could and found he couldn’t, or didn’t believe in who he had in the players group to achieve it. He then bull shitted his way through the season until he got fired. Personally I was very pleased to see the back of him, and couldn’t care less whether he is successful or not. He will of course try to rewrite his history with us as being highly successful. As is the modern way…
-
Your dad was right Gloucester I loved watching him getting onto the crosses from Paine and Sydenham. I remember him coming to my school and showing techniques. He also whacked a shot at goal and it hit the keeper and nearly took him in net. It was wet and left a welt mark imprint of ball on his leg with one of those all leather balls 🫣😂
-
No panicking by any means. Look at his record so far.very similar hire to ones we have made recently, all of which came with recommendations and high reputations. My point is that I don’t mind these sorts of hires alongside proven ones that will strengthen us now and make football enjoyable to watch again without the main driver being how much we can sell him for. Luckily I don’t own the club, so my selfish view is to spend my money on watching an able team perform. We have been waiting and seeing now for a few years and surprisingly ones’s tolerance to watching shyte reduces.

🙏🏻🤞🏻

There is nothing wrong with using good data to support and help decisions. This does look like data driven as his football record does not stand out and say he’s going to get to the top from what has been seen so far. Speed and effort seem his qualities
-
I feel the same way. Really hoped we would get a few players in that we know and have the quality we all know will be needed. This feels like them trying to be clever again. 🤞🏻this lad can get going quickly. From some of the reports looks like he didn’t play much for the team he was loaned to
