Nah, I'm OK. DIY paint stripping and surface preparation is dead boring anyway.

Manchester United Away on Aug. 19
suewhistle replied to SaintsFanNYC's topic in Saints Away Supporters
Just came on to let people know mine had arrived, but seems from others to be all going smoothly. As I'm pootling up north for a few days beforehand a last minute arrival would not have been good. -
and girls, although throw a few cheeky proseccos into the mix, and maybe slightly politer language..

Similar to what I would have written. It'll increase the average away following and the club still get the full £30, as I understand it. There'll be none of this "will block 42[?] be open" and home non-season supporters will have to make sure of their tickets earlier, giving an impetus to sales. I've never noticed a large away following to impact the result negatively: if anything it gets the home crowd going and makes for a better atmosphere and more of an event. I presume all our Europa cup matches will be televised somewhere, so giving subsidised tickets for the group games will also ensure a good atmosphere for those, and it's understandable why Virgin would want that too.

Guan posting at 23.21. Keeping an eye on the thread... hmm.. I wonder if that is significant? Newspapers call this time of year 'the silly season'! :-)

You're being spectacularly unimaginative again. Think of it as publicity and pacification: giving the fans a sense of community, generating interest, expectation and discussion, helping the bed-wetters and depressed as soon as possible, and why not? As long as the deal is over the line and signed we can know a bit before the official photographs and interview videos. At the moment Guan et al. are just in pacification and reassurance mode. ;-)

or two-footed like Benali, or am I just thinking of his tackling?

Do adults do that?

Well Guan, is the list submitted over the last two or three pages long enough for you to be able to say yay or nay as to whether it contains our signing? :-)

Who the heck is Consortium, I've often wondered? Pretty sure he doesn't post here!

Unfortunately the video editor who tries to make games look bad and boring was on holiday.. I didn't see Puel's interview but suggest he wanted to concentrate on the players who played in the game and Bertrand didn't.. There is promise there even though it's difficult to tell with friendlies, and I saw a few pulling out of challenges which I wouldn't expect in a competitive match. Atletico still managed a booking and quite a number of fouls. Austin looked strong when challenged for possesion, although he'll be more dangerous further up. Redmond will be fine: the important thing is he looks interested and involved, and that must be a good thing for his development.

Interesting. On Sunday there was some strange chanting going on in the Itchen/Chapel corner. I idly glanced over and initially couldn't see who was doing it... duh!

Fewer! Incidentally, I wonder if any of our new foreign recruits would like English lessons from an EFL teacher with her own football boots? I need to top up my pension for Europa League jaunts.. PS: so22saint, do you need crew. DS and radio tickets!

Choice within a small area? I've got a girlfriend, but some of the girls there have too much meat for me..

Any suggestions? :-) -
A few more random points: I don't think anybody had a bad game last night, even Rodrigues who still doesn't seem back to 100%. Tadic looked fine after his last appalling friendly appearance. McQueen is not a fullback (yet) but he seems to be growing into the role and he certainly has a mature physique to cope if lacking in raw pace. Both fullbacks pushed up but we could do with some slightly better crossing. Redmond looked willing and sharp and will benefit from playing in a better team than Norwich. Austin got a header and a shot away but he's not a Pelle in his hold-up play. Hojbjerg looks the business and I'm not sure we shouldn't play him further forward with his driving runs with close control. I don't think that our midfield will be a problem. Yoshida's passing was great in his proper position and he was never put under pressure to make one of his characteristic mistakes. All in all a good work-out against a decent side, and a lot better result than the last time we played Espanyol..

Besides I've been to watch football there. Many, many years ago (er... nearly 40, come to think of it) I got a cheap flight via dad (who was BA) and had a few days in Nice. Wandered over to Monaco on the train for a mooch, see the marine museum etc. By pure chance I noticed a poster on a ramshackle open ground and found out they were playing Nice that evening so got a cheap ticket, and then got the train full of football fans back to Nice that night. Chatting to the lads on the open terraces they were telling me that the team only survived based on money from the casino, and judging by the small derby crowd that seemed true. I don't want Anderlecht for similar reasons (1977 Chanson d'Amour, dumdiduddidum..) although Brussels is a nice enough city. Apart from those, anywhere in Italy, Spain or somewhere easy to get to. I've got nothing against exotic locations but they do appear a bit expensive to get to and as I like to wander around on my own have to use a bit of common-sense. Given the homophobia and nasty types there perhaps not Russia.
