  1. Yeah, but if you're in a massive tanker with a stopping distancve of who knows what or a vessel limited in its ability to manoeuvre you might just do a Mayday Relay and pass the message on to someone who might be able to help..
  2. Can someone let Steve Grant know I paid my subs back in March, discovered I couldn't edit the above post...
  3. In The Guardian's weekend preview it talks about Hodgson needing to watch John Stones:
  4. Perhaps they won't - they're 2-0 down after 9 minutes..
  5. The bit I like best..
  6. The bit I like best..
  7. At the end they also chucked concrete bits of Krap over the wall into the visitor's enclosure and we were kept in for at least half an hour.. Mind you, as the police liaison officer said "Haven't seen some of these lads for years and years...".
  8. Quite right. Take him to a 0-0 against Stoke.;-) I agree, the criticism of Pelle is odd. When he came back from injury he wasn't timing his flicks well, but nobody could complain about his contribution over the last few matches. Perhaps we just want more!
  9. Almost doubled amount for that budget line as well!;-)
  10. You both read it? I come on here for management summaries FFS. ;-)
  11. Hmm, I know a police sergeant who works down Portsmouth...
  12. That's an interesting correlation. The bad performance of Swansea also mirrors their football team...
  13. I've just been back to the start of the thread to reassure myself on the title. Anyway, I have to comment on the fact thats Saints are a very well documented club, had one of the first fanzines in the UK (Junk Mail), has it's own dedicated publishing house, loads of historians and now multiple statisticians. I't's been an interesting thread, latterly made me laugh, but can't help thinking that a few people have probably been eating dried mushrooms from The Common and have too much time on their hands. ;-)
  14. Lost to cancer at 68. http://www.theguardian.com/football/2016/mar/24/johan-cruyff-dies-aged-68-holland-football-legend
  15. Presumably Portsmouth's figures will improve? Bits of the ground will start to be closed for safety reasons, and then they'll move to Barton's Road...
  16. Hope you've got a decent garden shed.. In my whole holiday crossing 10+ borders the only time there was any interest or human involvement was a French plod/dogane at Le Havre. He wasn't interested in whether I had about 35 litres of wine on board and 2 litres of 95% spirit and 6 kilos of cheese! but was obviously just checking for other live contraband.
  17. I went down to the Alps again this winter and to avoid toll costs went Tunnel, Lille, Mons, Luxembourg (fill up), Epinal, Lausanne and Great St. Bernard Tunnel (although in summer the pass should be open). The advantage over Mt. Blanc is lower tolls (apart from the Swiss vignette), and if you use the GSB tunnel it's cheaper as no VAT and the return is valid a month (M.Blanc 1 week). On the way home I cross-countried France to Le Havre as arriving via Portsmouth means I'm virtually home. Drop down into the Aosta valley where there are plenty of camping sites for a stop - Aosta is worth a mooch - then on to Orta in a couple of hours (er.. campers/caravans a little more).
  18. Ah, understandable. If he were a player it would be easier to get out of..
  19. The next one will write itself, won't it?:-)
  20. i've just got home. Got off the train at the nearest town with a cheap 'spoons pub, one stop from home in a PO postcode, then got back on a pint (or two?) later. Wheeee! Plus my team won 3-1 without me in goal! That's harder to believe! Grins all round!
  21. I suspect Saints do too, the difference being in our case the cost of watching top level footie. What's therir excuse? :-)
  22. What sort of record do you have with your dreams' accuracy? Or are they all wishful thinking... ;-) I was there when Benali scored - had a great view from the East stand - so I look forward to it into the Chapel goal tomorrow.
  23. With some friends I went to see Paul Gilchrist's debut for Pompey (was it the season after the CF?). Best player on the pitch! :-)
  24. Is that the first time you've said that? (Absolve me, pater, quia peccavi...)
  25. I've just had a jolly good laugh reading this thread - better even than the Portsmouth takeover one. In spite of being an atheist I was bought up in the Methodist singing tradition and I've a suggestion for a song we can all sing at the end of the season: For all the saints who from their labours rest, Who Thee by faith before the world confess, Thy name, O [insert current hero], be forever blest, Alleluia! Alleluia!
