A 15 year old has come on as full back for the saints tonight in the under-21s after an early injury. Making the team look even more fresh-faced (apart from Martina and Juanmi)...

under 21s playing tonight:

Anyway, keeps MU within striking distance; a win for them would have been very disappointing..

Don't knock it mush. Better than selling off all our assets and property as a source of foreign exchange.. We've got to earn the money somehow for paying for all those nice Chinese nuclear plants at high guaranteed prices per megawatt..

Reminds me of leaving Cardiff in 2003 after loseing in the Cup Final. In one of the Saints coaches somebody had put up a sign: 'Cheer up Arsenal, you won'.

Saints v West Ham Build Up - Game now Saturday 6th Feb 1730

It's too bad that they keep changing the dates of matches at short notice - this has already been moved once, hasn't it? Fortunately the ferries available meant I get back late tomorrow, but I had been thinking of an extra day or two of holiday with the Monday game. Either way, moan over, thanks for posting. -
Wey hey, found a local bar with two screens (there's local footie on). That was a pretty intense first half. Romeu is playing well, even one of the local commentators commented how much he'd improved since he was first in England at Chelsea (?).

That's my memory too, from a brewpub with wifi, which may explain it.. Thanks to the expertise here - Clapham et al. Once again this thread entertains and I might have another beer to finish it. I lost a bit on my fun Saints shareholding, but unlike Pompey "shareholders" I went in eyes open..

Very true. But I don't recall you as a PTS nutjob.. :-)

Hmmmm, body paint? I'm glad its not an issue at my level.. I quite like the mittens idea..

Bloomiin' US software - snig gering..

I'm on holiday but I've sneakily looked at the PTS thread and feel slightly dirty whilst s******ing at the same time. It's keeping my grin wide after the win today...

Can't help thinking that's the wrong way round, taste buds and all that. Either way, you owe me €4.50 for the glass you offered. In case the mods get stroppy, this is entirely Saints related!

Cheers Batman, these summaries are really useful.

It's 'La Luna del Tempo', a 12 month oak-aged Barbera from Piemonte,it's very good. Thank goodness the nibbles line the stomach! I'm in posh tart mode and don't care. I may slum it with a few beers later.

Just found a wi-fi spot to get the results. Embarrassed myself in a wine bar with a loud shout when I read the thread title... :) I'm staying for a few more...

Charlie is my darling, my darling, my darling, Charlie is my darling, now go score a goal!

Yeah, and I hope they returned those Koi carp to their rightful owner, they're expensive fish..

Why did i bother to read?

When I say decent speed I mean he's not a pace man but doesn't look like he's running through treacle like JWP. :-) i'd agree about not really being a hold up player, but I think that may develop as he gains strength. He has reasonably quick feet too, which may help.

I thought Reed had a good game, as if to prove to the watching Koeman that he could do a good job: endless running, some great anticipation and tackling, and always there to pick up the loose ball. Nice finish for the goal too. Whover said Gallagher had had a growth spurt seems to be right! He looked taller than I remember and just a little bit awkward and unco-ordinated. Winger doesn't suit him, although he beat the defender a number of times. I presume it's part of his development to play in different positions. From the replay thought the second goal wasn't a free kick as the defender got a foot to the ball and hoiked it away. Although difficult Gazza did seem to flap a bit: a bit Sunday (afternoon), and should have made himself bigger at least. Sims and Hesketh have ability but still look like kids, Seager is a poacher and finisher but he does show decent speed, and probably more importantly he anticipates and takes risks about where the ball may end up.
-
Thanks for pointing that out Thorpie.. :-) Will Seager play, I wonder? ;-)
-
yes, cheers, but he doesn't give his or the Academy's opinion on the current crop of youngsters.

I have to say that the media have jumped on this and looks like a lot of people have lapped up their message and seen it as a terrible and unjustified criticism of the academy. I think even the staff know that this generation isn't of the best and I'd welcome Guan's view on that. I actually watch the U21s on youtube occasionally and think that my stance would be roughly in agreement but that we need occasionally to take a risk. For example Targett may not be at the same level as Bertrand particularly for attacking, but he hasn't disgraced himself and his appearance doesn't induce a 'Danny Fox' or 'LeeTodd groan'.. So, yes, a short spell for Seager or Gallagher (when he regains his coordination!) might be useful, if only for showing them the level they have to achieve.
