  1. You _are_ joking, surely? Or he is, perhaps, as he was always a joker when he came on here.
  2. Me too. Haven't mentioned Italy or playing football recently, although to be fair Turkish or GS or BS do the work for me anyway. Anyway, to save them the bother I wasn't very good in goal on Sunday and got very muddy, but that maybe due to the celebratory drinks the day before..
  3. Couldn't you use another negative term? How about 'spastic' or 'cripple'? You could be even crueller... 'Pompey fan'?..
  4. Plenty of them that do: an example I saw a couple od days ago - http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-south-yorkshire-24832611
  5. She was only the oarsman's daughter, but she knew how to stroke her cox.. I can see your real ale running out now..
  6. That was Kone..
  7. Stone me! It's a double act! It reminds of the story of Mike Winters appearing at some theatre (Glasgow I believe). Bernie Winters ambles on.. "Christ, there's two of them!" We have our own two on this thread. Maybe a couple more later.. The problem is their act is so, so predictable. Trousers is lieing: there's no way he'd have got 5-1. ;-)
  8. Better than 'con'! Gets past the swear filter too!
  9. Ready made chant for Saturday.. 'Rickie for England' 'Adam for England' etc. JR/Clyne/Shaw/JWP/Chambers.. Morgan pour France..
  10. I prefer the word 'connard'...
  11. I think I made the right decision not to view the match thread based on the last page and a half.. All the old favourites were there, along with the bah humbug, we're rubbish, so-and-so is rubbish attitudes. When Fox made that succesfull covering tackle just before their second goal I knew he'd get stick, even if the covering was necessary. I thought Cork showed some rustiness, but played well, Lee is not a first-teamer but moved well and was quite sharp in the first half. It was good to see Reed get a full 90 minutes and to blood Gallagher - neither looked out of their depth, particularly Reed. We didn't penetrate but some of the passing was quite good, and the pressing also, even if not up to first 11 standard. Ramirez _was_ disappointing: a combination of over-ambitiousness and silly mistakes - but some team is reallly going to benefit from him even it it's probably not going to be us. You can probably tell I'm a teacher as I try to be positive: it's so easy to be destructive. But I just hope that some of you aren't football coaches because you could really ruin the morale of a team.
  12. The winger Stuart Ripley actually crossing a ball successfully..
  13. I've covered my bets on this one. On the roof I've got the recently installed solar panels [10kWh generated yesterday], been up in the roof these last few days improving the insulation and I've got a very healthy PEP of SSE shares. The thing about the latter is that although the price has been hit by recent events I'm not complaining, as I do feel regulatory control has been lax and there is a lack of transparency over transfer pricing. But I would say, don't complain about the "city shareholders". I didn't agree with privatisation, but as I was in the industry and directly affected I bought shares and KEPT THEM long term. So many people cashed in for a quick profit, which just about sums up our industrial policy in this country. As for the recent announcement on nuclear power: use foreign capital and expertise and then guarantee them a generous return! We still haven't worked out how and who is going to decommission the old nuclear plant, but the profits have accrued privately and the decommissioning costs remain with the taxpayer. In the meantime, every unit I generate on my roof is a tiny bit of fuel that doesn't have to be imported, thus helping the balance of payments.
  14. OK, it might have been funny once, but constant repetition doesn't make it funnier and smacks of playground bullying. (not particularly having a go at you there, mind...).
  15. Bearsy, I expected more from you. There's actually intelligence underneath the exterior, and that was unworthy of you.
  16. You've got Turkish on ignore too? Must have. Just because Turkish _keeps_ repeating the fact doesn't mean you have to be his a***-licker. Anyway, I now play in Hants Div 3! :-)
  17. "leave 'im Wes, 'es not worf it" I gave up on Barry after his gratuitously irrelevant comment and dig at me out of the blue in yesterday's match thread. I've come across plo**kers like him in real life, who think their banter is funny. Must be my upbringing, but I normally just smile and never tell them what I think, which is normally "What an utter p*****k." If they go on I tend to break this rule. I don't think much of his football comments either..
  18. Early board meltdown time?
  19. Drat, thought I'd edited the orientation before uploading...
  20. A Tale of Two Cities eh? Well, one of them isn't doing too well...
  21. You haven't said whether they did have an appropriate skill set or whether you thought they could do the job. I've gone for jobs I didn't think I'd get (and didn't), but there are limits to the amount of time both job-seeker and employer want to waste on pointless job applications. Sorry Sour Mash, there are other reasons, and tarring all the unemployed with that same big brush of yours is a nasty thing to do.
  22. I must get round to posting my picture of the missing seat at FP, which collapsed under the (not very heavy) weight of our goal-keeper at the last women's international. I suppose I'll have to get a hosting account - ho hum.. So dodgy loos, leaky roof, collapsing seats, not to mention rubbish football. What's on the positive side of the equation?
  23. Cynicism and poor excuses for wit coming to a thread near you? I wonder who? Oh, what a surprise...
  24. Sorry to disappoint, but I'm the only one who ever bothers with a shower: the rest jump into Mum's car and off they go! I am not 17, so although fiit (in the sporty sense..) I suspect you aren't missing much!:-)
  25. Christ! I'm not particularly bothered about about this issue, and maybe it's the bottle of Valpolicella Ripasso that has moved me to write, but do you _ever_ write a post that isn't a miserable, cynical, critical pile of cr*p? You really are a four letter word, and I'll leave others to choose their favourite for you.
