  1. The nauseating media dri8vel has started: it behoves all of us to counteract it.... http://boards.fool.co.uk/we-are-pompey-12785973.aspx?sort=whole#12785973
  2. Yep, I remember that too, from the under-West stand terrace. Yep, never actually liked him, all the personality of a sloth.
  3. Yep, it's the light at the end of the tunnel. Any moment now they're going to be able to make out the headcode...
  4. I thought the land was worth more _without_ a ramshackle edifice on it?
  5. ["It would mean everything to me ...," was Lambert's chosen reply.] Wouldn't it just! I saw his first Premiership goal, and I was sooo pleased for him as well as Saints in his obvious joy.
  6. Perhaps they could play at our training ground? Staplewood would be an upgrade on Fratton Park, at least...
  7. Waxing rhetorical again Rallyboy?:-) It seems an idea often expressed on this thread but still they keep going somehow.. If they do manage a "with one leap he was free" escape they're going to need a fair bit of working capital: any printer is going to extend credit for one game only, any coach company for one away trip, and that's if the suppliers are feeling generous.
  8. For anybody on their hols or over for business Reading v Saints is on Sky Supercalcio and Sky Calcio 02 tomorrow.
  9. A less than stressful game....etc.. is likey to be pretty popular too!
  10. It wasn't just me then! Better in the second half, and a really well taken goal, but I was thinking (without considering the potential alternatives) "Christ; Welbeck, Cleverley, Young are all England internationals.." I don't want to tempt fate any more than the next person, but hopefully in a couple of games we'll all be able to contemplate and express hopes for next season without that inevitable rejoinder...
  11. Err, doesn't it have to be satisfactory to Portpin as well? Gawd, I need to do some revision on this thread...
  12. And only you realised that?
  13. Bloomin 'eck Turkish, just seen you quoted above and I agree with you! You're not always a negative, sarcastic and snide b****r!:-)
  14. Be careful. Not only will you be competing mainly with people who have a degree but in many countries (e.g. Korea/Thailand) having one is a prerequisite for getting a visa. In the Middle East you'd need a specialist post-grad qualification and in Europe you'll earn subsistence level.
  15. I think it helps not having dependants and not having too many expensive tastes, but although I'm careful I'm not struggling. Ten years ago I was living off redundancy money, then bits of pieces of employment (as I didn't want to stay in IT) and then an early (hence reduced) pension kicked in when I was 50. I still work, though the local economy is a bit ropey and I've lost most of my teaching hours in the last year. Can't complain and if I get an additional private lesson I know I have a little extra to spend. I'll be moving back to the UK this summer, and to be honest it may well be more difficult to get the supplementary income I want, but it's not something I worry about. Might have to forgo the season ticket I had when I last lived in the UK though.. PS: Eurosaint, know anybody needing crew? :-) Winching and rail work... no foredeck stuff...
  16. I've been told he's fatter...
  17. I've decided it's too easy to wind up Turkish. I think I'm going to move to Dubai and take up golf.
  18. There usd to be a rather fat Jersey senator called Le Mesurier (IIRC) who used to take the biplane Dragon Rapide flight from Southampton airport. When he was booked to fly they used to ask for one of the lighter pilots, restricted crew luggage and tried to upload a little less fuel, depending on the winds. All true, courtesy of my Dad who used to do the load sheets!
  19. Can somebody quote my stalker for me? You'd think somebody as young as Turkish would be out on a Saturday night, but perhaps he's just an internet warrior. I'll pop back and look in the morning, or, if last time at this place tonight is anything to go by, tomorrow afternoon.

  21. And they say we're *****y! Firstly, to disappoint you all, and especially Turkish, I'm not quite as cuddly as in that last photograph (although I understand from on here that Turkish is..). What with the skiing and the footie [:-)] I'm a fair bit slimmer, although I'm probably not for you if you don't like fairly muscular legs.. We've no game tomorrow, so off for a little rest and then to hit the dance floor with friends at midnight. Snow is forecast for tonight and tomorrow so skiing on Monday should be good, and I've no teaching to get in the way. Can't help BigBadBob with his fantasies, but I've lots of straight friends, so a holiday out here could be fun. .
  22. Now be fair, they're all downstairs queing for the single loo. (Or rotting the concrete somewhere...).
  23. Made _me_ laugh!
