  1. Who are you taking as Beauty?
  2. It's about 10 times _more_ expensive... we have a chance!
  3. 'Ows about 'poco'? Means little or not very much in Italian, and similar in Spanish, I believe. The 'o' is long: can't be a***d with phonetic symbols this time of morning...
  4. It's quite obvious that Hazard kicked him in ribs with the toe of his boot: don't think he was feigning at all, you could see the impact on the screen. It looked like firstly the kid slipped, he probably wasn't rushing to get up and then Hazard makes a bad situation worse by pushing - in the process delaying and disrupting the game more than if he'd waited for the ball-boy to get his act together. Idiot all round, and he was smirking before he got his red card. WTFISN
  5. I think Rallyboy is referring to the _non-footballing_ entertainment they provide...
  6. Back from various bars, one of which was showing the match earlier: I can't tell you where because if I do Turkish will start bullying me, but the local commentators were pretty complimentary about Saint's first half perfomance. Previously I'd thought Everton were quite a good side, but they didn't show much in the first half - we didn't let them. Certainly they had to be better in the second, and so it proved. We'd all have liked three points, but in the circumstances a point is still useful, plus a morale booster against a pretty unambitious Everton. Why would they be like that? Perhaps we should credit our team for not letting them perform.
  7. Can't help, but hope you've got your avalanche transceiver, poles and shovel ready!
  8. Now that was professional! I bet that as soon as the camera stopped rolling she collapsed on the floor...
  9. Yeah, but you were always able to buy shares if you were that bothered. I had a few hundred - I looked on it like people on here gamble - knowing that in the longer term it wouldn't make me money, but I had a connection to the club and a right to go to annual meetings. If I were going on Monday I'd would have liked to join in with a chant such as 'Win it for Nigel': to support the team, but making my views very clear... Come to think of it, is that such a bad song?
  10. Well! I'm due to move back to the UK in the medium term so trying to be positive there might be a bit more English teaching work in the Southampton area. I have the advantage of having my own footie boots (actually both moulded, screw-in and keeper's gloves!), European experience (we're playing Juventus on Sunday!), and I'll be needing the money so can give reasonable rates... Hey, it's not all bad! :-(
  11. Still nothing on the OS, not even the twitter feed, it seems.
  12. Are they still sponsored by jobsite? Shouldn't it be some agency like Reed or Adecco, as they only get the players who need some temporary employment and a bit of money whilst they look for a real job?
  13. Hard pack, corduroy, powder, champagne powder, boilerplate, cement, wind-crust, icy, spring, granular, slab, and others I can't think of at the moment. Staying in the warm today as the pistes are hard and it's freezing. Snow for the weekend so fluffy stuff next week!:-) Funnily enough I've just been looking at UK web-cams and the picture is patchy; pretty snowy in the south-west and my mum just Skyped to say there's a blizzard in the Thames Valley.
  14. You don't need to tell me, I live in the euro zone. But what's the UK balance of payments like? How much substitution of foreign imports can you do with home manufacturing, how much food does the country need to import? Double edge sword Trousers, with no comfortable grip either...
  15. OK, at my desk with a cuppa as footie training was called off: bitterly cold here. The problem with France and the rest of western Europe is the competition and poor pay. You can make a decent career of it but like anything you have to get extra qualifications. My teaching is a second career after IT, so I've only got a CELTA and C&G for adult teaching and I haven't bothered further due to age and cost-benefit. There are plenty of English speaking people over much of Western Europe, and it's the people on the ground with local contacts who get the best gigs. There are always opportunities but if you check on some of the job web sites (e.g. TEFL.com) you might like to start wondering why the same organisations are always re-advertising... You might also wonder (certainly in Italy) how people can manage to survive on the offered pay: brief answer, they can't. I have other income, and although my gross is €37-40 an hour I don't get many hours and I won't disturb you by telling you what the Italian tax and social security system takes out of that! At a bucket-shop school you'll take home matbe €11/12, but remember that's per contact hour. Now the rest of the world is a big place, so a few things worth mentioning. Many countries have tightened up on visa requirements so you'll need a degree. [Can't remember off-hand if you have one..] That applies to Korea, for example, where you can earn reasonably but you definitely earn it. Thailand has tightened up on their visas recently as well. China always has plenty of possibilities, but there might be some rather smoggy places there you don't want to go to. Careful investigation needed. The reasonably well-paying Middle East is more-or-less out, unless you have higher qualifications. You'll still be the poor relation to all the other expats, though there's a chance DubaiPhil might stand you the odd drink.;-) If you want to investigate further I suggest going and reading and then enquiring at Dave's ESL Cafe forums. If you've got any specific questions, let me know and I'll try to help.
  16. Yep, bit late tonight though, so if you can come up with some more specific questions it might help. You won't get rich though! Still, I live in a nice part of the world and will go skiing 3 times this week (whilst avoiding the weekends) so can't be bad... Speak later..
  17. Drat! I've no beer left, I'll have to open a bottle of prosecco! Two crosses from our full backs... The commentators on my stream were right in the first half saying we should just put crosses into the box. Rodriguez softened them up a bit in the first half but RL's header left the keeper static. I was surprised that Chaplow came on for Davis but after that it was no surprise that Ramirez came on for Guly: not up to his last few games, and dead balls terrible. Good day all round. Freezing up at 2700m skiing, down for a nap, earnt some money teaching and now spending it after an unexpected point. I thought we generally played well first half, more decisive clearances in the second and what finishes... I'll have to pop in the heart pills for the last 20 minutes of matches in future...
  18. Mmm horse meat, lean and full of iron, or maybe that's just because they've forgotten to take the horseshoes off...
  19. ‘The whole thing is predicated on the court giving the valuation that we can work around.' Err.. quite. And if BC objects and/or offers more? ‘We think it’s good news from the football club’s perspective because we will own the ground from day one.’ Hmmm.. Trust chairman Ashley Brown said: ‘However, the single most important thing our supporters can do to help achieve this objective is to convert their pledges or buy a share if they have not yet done so, either as individuals or in syndicates. In others words, we haven't yet got enough money to do what we're talking about above, let alone pay all the legal bills and for a place to train..
  20. Looking at the OS the "First Team" have pictures of 13 lonely players..
  21. Thanks to you and the other Scandinavian posters; looks like Saintsweb has spies everywhere! I think the injury to Fonte has underlined our weaknesses in this area and although we all talk about getting better players (see RodleShearer's comment), he does have the advantage of age on his side, and must be better than Seaborne and Martin.
  22. Well, we need a winner in midfield..
  23. To be honest I don't think he is. He's just not very socially aware or aware of how he comes over, has unbalanced views and possibly mild depression... Now, I get p****d off when Saints lose, but have other interests to mean that it's not the end of the world. You'd think someone with a family wouldn't let it get to himself so much.
  24. Pulled by whom? The writer? Twitter, following a complaint? Perhaps we should point a few media studies professors/courses in the direction of NeilAllen as I'm sure he'd make an interesting case study..
  25. Yeah, but 2% in the pound won't be much...
