Sixty will make quite a difference for some clubs.... in the Wessex League.

Top up a tandem?

The son of some friends of mine in the Southampton area started doing it after a taster course at school and not even being a footballer. Keeping fit and earning good money as a student was the main attraction. Let's face it, it beats minimum wage retail jobs.

Oh, have you got her phone number? Poo, I forgot that this saga is all from your febrile mind! It's so realistic and well written, just like the original, and even a little more humorous. :-) ;-)

Thanks guys for reminding me that I must sort out my ticket for the New Year's Day match, being as it's the only one I can get to over the holidays, what with non-existant public transport and not being able to justify a hire car whilst I'm over. I'll pay what I need for the ticket, although the ticket was probably better value against Exeter a couple of years ago in L1 with the 30000 in the ground! With the possibility of moving back to the UK next year I'd be looking at a very tight budget. If a bigger ground will keep a check on prices I'm all for it. Otherwise I can see myself foregoing the season ticket and spending a few more quid down the nearest Sky equipped pub. That's the danger with the price of football these days, and in the crisis ridden country where I currently live the crowds are pretty poor for _most_ games, even though they're obsessed with football and the tickets are a lot cheaper. I don't see the UK economy being that much better, and the ticket prices are certainly out of kilter with the ones we see in Germany, for example. Apart from that, can we, as suggested above, have a separate thread on attendances, as it's all getting a bit repetitive and tiresome.

No, I agree SG, not really up to the pace, and still a yard short, it seems to me. Mayuka gave NA food for thought though.

Ooh, thanks, hadn't even considered that..

The thing that struck me was that Liverpool were bullying us physically. Not surprising given the experience and age of many of their players compared to ours. Uncomfortable watching and it's a relief we're only 1 down.

Hmmm. Crap economy and getting worse, poor crowds, poor (and dishonest) clubs, many Ultra fans are criminal c****. Food's good but oh for a bit of variety occasionally, and the meat is definitely better in the UK and Uruguay. As for women, difficult for me to comment, but after a certain age they aren't herociously fit, although there is a section of the local state A road where I've been told you can find a few um.. heroes. On the way to our last away game there was a stretch of road over about 1 to 2 k where there were 5 or 6 ladies with short skirts waiting for er... buses. The weather was also cold and damp so, Blakey, I'd be a bit more realistic! :-) But like everywhere, there are always positives and negatives. Content free journalism: it's a great job to have.

Possibly not. I'm a real veteran and was slightly surprised to have to play 90 minutes + extra time for my team last Sunday,, but when I was younger I often used to suffer from cramp. Perhaps I'm just fitter now!?

Cheers Tokyo!:-) I've quietly ignored the offer... I've seen others of Turkish's posts, to be honest, and sometimes they're sensible. That one wasn't one of them.. Why does he keep on reminding people I have/had him on ignore?

For the Oldies! (Those at the dell in the 70's like me)

OI! Less of the old.;-) It's disturbing to say I remember them! -
What about those t-shirts you were getting? Needed for this event and Trousers wants one for his early morning commute..:-) Now that Appy's gone I suppose the design will need updating... better make it future-proofed in view of all the uncertainty. "Portsmouth FC: Liquidation Specialists" - that should do it..

Thought I'd have a brief look at the AV-Rdg stream. You're not wrong, it's absolutely dire..

Welll... last time I was at the High Court to see Pompey I had a couple of pints at The Olde Cheshire Cheese (IIRC). Couldn't get into the court: it was more packed than a park, so did a bit of eavesdropping in the waiting room outside and even heard AA schmoozing the Pompey fans. Then off to the British Museum etc. for a good day out in the smoke...

Just watched MOTD on a stream... well... That was impressive and fun to watch! Should be a very good crowd for Wednesday and hopefully a stream too.

Probably not, actually. It'll be trampled to f**k!

I always thought it was about what he takes out of the game.

Is it safe to come back to this thread yet? Yep, Italians are generally good communicators! I used to teach a variety of different nationalities in the UK but have to admit once on the phone I almost gave up on a Liverpudlian call centre worker he was so difficult to understand. I don't think Barry is from the 'pool though...

Done my lesson and you're still at it!

FFS, it's like a starving dog with a bone. I won't comment further as I have to give an English lesson at half past.

I'd second TuneIn radio, and after that depends on your interests. I have absolutely no interest in games, but have bits and pieces like train times, tube map, snow reports etc. Pocket recorder might be useful and there are various reminder (ToDo)and note taking apps. Let us know what you're interested in and other people will then be able to suggest apps. Personally I haven't got much of a clue as it's my first smartphone (a cheap Samsung Windows one that does everything I bought it for).

I'd say it's more like they're argueing what tune to play, then in what key, who'll set the tempo....

For some imaginative ways of dealing with the thieves the commenters on this blog have some good ideas: http://www.guardian.co.uk/environment/bike-blog/2012/nov/19/cyclists-police-bike-theft?INTCMP=SRCH People get very upset about their bikes. I had one pinched from outside a sports centre and was probably more upset than when my old car got nicked from a lock-up. First thing I knew of that was the police knocking on my door at 5 in the morning asking if I knew where my car was... The WPC said you "don't seem too upset". It's a second-hand car FFS, 5 in the morning and it's insured... It had been used in a post office robbery up in the downs behind Portsmouth. Recovered in Portswood with damage to a wing, ho hum.
