Thanks Phil, but I'm not yet _that_ decrepit, and besides, why spoil a decent walk in the country? Nor could my budget cope, not after paying for the season ticket! Anyway, I could always take up goalkeeping more seriously to avoid the ol' shortness of breath problem and the incipient cramp after 80 minutes.. Need to start training though, as my beer consumption is going to go up, starting with The Platform Saturday week...

I suppose I ought to tell Turkish that I have him on ignore, in case he's forgotten. :-) Perhaps it hadn't occurred to him that the location of my recent work experience might be relevant to my employment prospects, but I suppose if his attempts at online bullying give him a bit of pleasure he might be a bit nicer in his real-life encounters. Still, I'm sure everybody else will make up their own minds.

LIVE: Mauricio Pochettino's pre-match press conference
suewhistle replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
It's patently obvious that he speaks English, but perhaps he feels he can't do himself justice in expressing exactly what he wants in the context of a press conference. Using a translator also gives him more time to think. I'm sure if he met GS in the street he'd be able to say 'Ah, you are that preeek on SaintsWeb'.. -
Absolutely, I've only seen ceduto (cedere) in a footie context, vendere would be the normal word for sell. Whatever, the meaning is clear in this case. The player's choice remains to be seen though. If it means an Italian influx and somebody opening a pizzeria with a wood-fired oven in Southampton it would all be worth it!

OK, so one more season of football and one of refereeing!;-)

If I ever go straight.... :-)

Wey, hey, just back, slightly.. er.. relaxed from a social club to the East of Portsmouth with some Scottish friends and some very nice Summer Lightening. I made a bit of noise (!) and my friends pointed out [nicely], "she's a scummer", but the locals agreed he was worth his place and a good player.. Who wrote that flaming script? So, so pleased for RL. Buzzing!

A slight tongue-in-cheek question, but how much do qualified refs get for a match these days? Still reckon I've another season in me but...

Part-time I think; I put a deal into my work (particularly the actual teaching) and need time to recover! Just like I did when I was playing 90 minutes of football as a veteran last year.. Alternatively short-term full time contracts would be fine, but I'm looking to a 2/3 week holiday visit back to my friends in January: skiing and maintaining my language skills! I'm open to all avenues; I'm too out of touch to go back into IT with any technical component and would not wish to try, but I have good people skills. Thanks for your reply and please PM if you have any more suggestions. Sue

I'm back from living in Italy (don't tell ******) and looking for work. If anybody hears of any teaching opportunities - English as a Foreign or Second Language and Italian - let me know, even a few hours one-to-one coaching in a business environment. I can also do translation Italian >> English. I might send Osvaldo my card but you lot are probably a more realistic bet. I've a background of 25 years in industry in business/systems analysis in case you all think I might be too academically based, and as a freelance abroad learnt to be very flexible and responsive to my customers. See my comment elsewhere, but having paid for my season ticket I need some work to pay for the transport to the games! I also need more resources to put my house right after the housing association left it in a right state...

Perhaps he learnt something interesting from an expat lawyer in Qatar? After all, if you want a barrister to take your brief you have to supply them with _some_ information first?

Neil Allen @pn_neil_allen What's a paragraph?

Are people more interested in Wednesdays international now?

Obviously.. And when he scores?:-) -
"Corriere della sera(G. PIACENTINI) - Che Osvaldo sia sul mercato non è un mistero per nessuno, ........., hanno creato una situazione di stalloche potrebbe cambiare le strategie di mercato della società." That Osvaldo is on the market is no secret, but that he'll definitely be playing in a different shirt the coming season is another matter. The obstinacy of the player in refusing the (foreign) destinations [snippy] and that of Roma in not allowing a domestic transfer have created a stalemate which might change the transfer strategy of the club..

Only on here...

Yes, seems a good summary. Just been reading the Italian sites and we are definitely back in there strongly and matters are coming to a head either way and should be settled in the next (2) week(s) - Wolfsburg, Saints, Zenit but I'd guess not Inter!

I don't know, but the story I heard from a decent source was that RL asked the goalkeeping coach/scout to go and investigate Forecast. The coach immediately replied "he's c**p" [or words to that effect]. RL asked, "but how do you know" and the scout replied "It's my job to know". It has a ring of truth about it.. Will we ever know? Let's just feel relieved, and sorry for Chelmsford...

buying a flat in Italy
suewhistle replied to svetigpung's topic in Overseas Saints / Supporters Groups
It's a bit late and only just seen this. Just moved back to the UK after living in Italy 7 years (renting!) in the NW Alps, but I'll give you my thoughts tomorrow..:-) -

The pyschs call this projection. Looks like the insecure one round here is you. Bless. Unless of course you really are trying to be humorous... -
I thought that goal was a bit unfortunate as I don't think it was an actual pass; just that the ball looped up high and wide out of a tackle, and all a bit unexpected. Their first goal was after some penalty area pinball and we should have done better and the last was Davis' near post again.., so I live in hopes of improvement. Wanyama looks the business, Lovren a bit slow but a great saving tackle and you can see why we haven't bought a back up to Clyne. The real disappointment was Gaston, and Cork only looked comfortable more forward and not when he was defending. Guly looked much more interested than last season, and his body language was better, although he's always worked hard. An enjoyable game; Lallana actually shooting well for his goal, Morgan swapping the ball from one foot away from the keeper and finishing with his left and Hoiiveld's I don't think from Lallana's free kick but keeping it down well when it came out to him from a defender's clearance.
