  1. As an aside, it's funny what you do and don't remember. I recall it being patently obvious that Andy Townsend was angling for a move when he suddenly and noticeably just stopped trying and shortly afterwards he departed, never to mention Saints again.
  2. I seem to remember that as well but as fans we live in hope..
  3. Ooh, as a betting virgin I'm still naively tempted. Book closes at 12.00, but the prospect of buying drinks down a local pub in the PO area if I win is strangely alluring.
  4. Pah, lightweight! You'd never make it on the PTS thread. But don't ask me, haven't a clue either...
  5. There is indeed. For a lot of the research into Charles Miller you need to thank the writers Dave Juson and Aidan Hamilton, the latter a Portuguese speaker.
  6. Give them their due, some of them get it.
  7. I remember reading in the newspaper (Observer/Guardian?) the season preview by the fans: the Derby one couldn't believe their luck at having got rid of Delap for £4m.
  8. Yeah! Recognise the team in red and white stripes.:-) Oh..
  9. I'd strongly disagree there, at least compared to all the other supermarkets, they have a lot more interesting wines than "half-price" stuff in the mainstream supermarkets. I also shop in Majestic, but the run-of-the-mill supermarkets are only for when you run out - which rarely happens...
  10. I wonder what Bearsy gets?
  11. I reckon you can trust Cortese to drive a hard bargain but you could trust him...
  12. Yes, but I _needed_ a bicycle pump!
  13. I'll happily go into Waitrose with my big, strong Lidl bags, but I buy different stuff in different places. Waitrose for wines, special cheeses and decent meat (although prefer local butchers), organic milk, their pain au levain, loose leaf teas and other specialist stuff, although I haven't got the income to really splash out. Aldi (and Lidl) are good for basics: tinned toms, mozarella, german salamis, fruit and veg is fine, the chocolate and I noticed they also do free range chicken but didn't notice the price. I had a Barossa Shiraz the other day which was good value: managed to make it last two days and definitely opened up on the second. They're also good for the household cleaning stuff too along with the rubber dinghy type bargains. Bought a stirrup bicycle pump and big garden bin the other day. Tescos just annoy me with their confusion marketing.
  14. It's something of a shock to hear Alpine's comments when he actually _watches_ a game: more please! Just watched the highlights; Mayuka's goal in particular was a cracker, and SD needs to learn how to finish, though there wasn't too much wrong with the chip. Nice left-footed finish by Isgrove with the defender coming in on his right and a classic RL goal. From the highlights not the worse friendly I've ever seen.
  15. That looks like the ultimate in ****tery. "A pro and you ****ed it up, A pro and you ****ed it up,.." It's a pity he's too stupid to realise his own stupidity.
  16. He'd be playing against more internationals in the Premiership!;-)
  17. "Nuovi contatti, l'obiettivo resta Leandro Damiao. " OK, "exclusive" posted last night at 11pm: "New contacts, the obkjective remains LD. Saints aiming strongly for the attacker, he's their first choice and remains so. Possible developments within 4/5 days and Cortese feels positive in these last few hours , even if there needs to be further negotiation over the details as agreement between the parties hasn't been reached yet. Saints continue to work because he's the first name on their wish list - more than Osvaldo and other attackers that have been approached by the club. MP has made it be known he really wants the player."
  18. Saw the short clip on Saints Player which saw him just pushing the ball past the defender - something we haven't seen much of recently -and then shooting. Certainly fast and confident in his pace and a little more composure could have yielded results. Nice o see the potential anyway. Where was he playing most of the game, as it wasn't entirely clear from the short clip?
  19. Ta! My grandad used to do a 6d yankee, so... Portsmouth relegated, Newcastle relegated, Saints 8th or above and....?
  20. I'm deep behind henemy lines, so I'm not sure whether the local bookies would be a friendly place for a young innocent like me [cough], but I'm still tempted by a relegation bet on P**********. Anybody have the latest?
  21. I see you took the advice on the main board! :-)
  22. Oh, tais-toi Art. A top CL team ahead of us in their preparation, a Saints team who had a training session that morning and had numerous changes and you're "gutted"? Che palle!
  23. CB Fry: effing unpleasant as always.
  24. Weelll, we'll begrudgingly allow you that - whilst still not allowing the new organisation credit....
  25. .. and neither do you, and you're the one who should be concerned. We're only here for the entertainment..
