  1. Now apply that same process to understanding why you yourself cause so much irritation and we'll be getting places. Do you honestly not see you cause far more aggravation here whilst doing the martyred dying swan act whenever people express their irritation?
  2. I was going to comment about having seen that figure before... somewhere... but there's always someone on this thread who gets there first!
  3. I think I'd worked it out, but many of us will be grateful for the explanation! Really GM, trying to wind him up? Too easy, surely, like pinching the tin of special brew from a comatose, drunken tramp in the park?:-)
  4. Our home ground is around 580m (not sure exactly) and I've trained and played pre-season friendlies as high as 1400m: makes a difference to the lungs! Plus we're on a river, but that obviously doesn't make much difference..:-)
  5. As far as I know the wearing of a cross is not an obligation on any Christian but a personal preference. A stupid point on which to make a stand, and there are far too many people who want to take offense or feel discriminated against - I think they feel it validates them or something. Nor does Christianity say you can't deal with gay people in your work. I know a CofE vicar who on his desk has a sign saying: "The Christian Right is neither"!
  6. So no need for -10 points this season then. Keep it for next in L2... beyond that I'm a bit vague on the football league pyramid, but I think they'd have been better off as a phoenix starting low and going up. Instead their preferred method seems to be like trying to stand on an icy black slope above a precipice on a cheap tea-tray bought over 20 weeks from a mail-order catalogue - and already being behind on the payments.
  7. No, _I_ am Turner...
  8. This, and the rest of your post is some of what I was saying earlier. It's no good saying the players substituted had had a blinder if they can't maintain it and then make mistakes ("why weren't they substituted earlier"). If Fonte had put that clearance into touch like he should have done there wouldn't have been a corner and a tired defence punished. But unlike Wigan there was no suggestion we sat back or didn't have sufficient bite. If the Japanese defender had been available I reckon he'd have come on as sub, but he wasn't so he didn't. I am worried about our defence and we did try to strengthen it in the transfer window, but I don't think the substitutions were as pivotal as some on here seem to be suggesting.
  9. The think I noted about the substitutions was that it was the three attackers who had been defending from the front. Even at amateur level it's bloomin knackering playing both an attacking and a closing down game. Lambert is 30 and a big heavy guy, so he's understandable, but I noticed at Man City how Puncheon faded towards the end and that's not a criticism of the way he played. Lallana also did loads of work today, at pace, to try and close down and intercept. There was a perfectly rational reason for the subs although I'd have preferred Rodrigues more central. Also the midfield were tired at the end and the balls the forwards were getting were not of the best. I really wouldn't put too much emphasis on the subs, to be honest.
  10. Come on, lets not have too much wrist slitting. If he hadn't made those subs you'd all be moaning, Fonte was playing against a player who cost almost as much as our side and MU know they've been in a game. Look at the flaming positives instead of focussing just on the negatives. You can't just defend against a team as good as that. I know KD and JF aren't the best in those positions, but stop picking on players. I'm deeply, deeply disappointed; p****d off in fact, but in terms of performance that would've beaten most teams.
  11. Some tired legsa out there, but notice Utd felt they had to get their subs on earlier than we did. It's them who needs to change the game.
  12. And that was!
  13. I'm back, am I lucky mascot. No, he wasn't offsidfe... can't post here too much or miss action
  14. B******s, all the bars in town want to show Juventus in the second half - I was outvoted... So I'm back...
  15. Don't need a new car We've got Mayuka.. or for the classically minded Oh come, oh come Emmanuel, To score some goals And send the rest to hell.. Rejoice, rejoice etc. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DWLltU9ayFc Off down the bar so I'll get me coat...
  16. I'm not surprised we didn't sell out Citeh. I went as it was part of my holiday and was visiting friends up North, but at 4pm on a Sunday (with work the day after), live on TV and at £51 a pop I'm not surprised. A Saturday game, a night out in Mancs and a leisurely trip back on the Sunday would have appealed to far more. I'll be over for Christmas but, public transport being what it is I'm going to find it difficult to get to any games. Is anybody likely to go to the Boxing Day game against Fulham from the Thames Valley?? Maybe I'll just do Stoke away on the 29th: real tourist destination that, isn't it!
  17. Obviously the ref isn't a teacher so doesn't know how threatening and vicious kids can be....
  18. Hang on, what's my name on _this_ forum? Ah yes, my name is Sue and I play the [tin] whistle.... I am not a referee. Although if I can't get any work when I move back to the UK I might just try refereeing.
  19. Tell me. How do you manage to maintain such a consistent level of cheerfullness, positivity, non-aggression, non-evidence based opinion and general gemutlichkeit? I think _all_ on this board would like to know.
  20. The best thing about being in the top division (whatever it's proper name these days)! The only problem being when it clashes with local teams on the box in the local bars. I'm with you though - I haven't decided: it could go either way.... Having seen them live giving Citeh a run for their money I wouldn't write anything off although I'm ready for the worst. That would disappoint me though.
  21. Ignore him, you should see some of his other posts...
  22. So he had no say in the issue of a DVD with initial ideas for expansion? But you're right, if there is any fool around here it certainly isn't Cortese.
  23. I read it on Firefox on a laptop - I think you're just being kind! I've just contacted a visually impaired friend who is _very_ computer literate for her views as sites need to be accessible under the Discrimination Act provisions. I'll let you know her opinions, and it might be interesting to ask Peter White the broadcaster as he's a Saints fan. It's bad enough for us: a graphic, unwieldy, incoherent mess which puts you off browsing. No doubt if you have something specific to look at you can eventually get there but the whole experience puts you off doing anything more.
