What fills the void for you in the summer months?
suewhistle replied to Orange's topic in The Saints
Must admit I prefer the winter as in the summer I have no footie to watch, stress about, train for or play, no skiing and no teaching. At bit of a loose end really.. Anybody need yacht crew? -
I once had a cleaning lady who ironed a work blouse. Unfortunately she used my ski waxing iron she found in a cupboard. Fortunately she realised something was wrong from the smell and only did the one item...

Mind you, I get the impression that he trusts the management after being persuaded to stay after relegation to L1.

Liked this bit: « Le président nous a affirmé que nous ne jouerons pas le maintien la saison prochaine. Il va investir pour nous permettre d’intégrer le Top 10. On le croit sur parole. » Good article (haven't read the second yet) and a good photo showing how he plays with his head up - something we get shouted at in training too! Notice how they comment on the size of the crowd and the reaction in the city and Morgan's smile...

Please don't embarrass us with any more clown costumes

Heh, heh. This thread hasn't improved since I was on last. I suppose I should say wood or plastic, bermuda or gaff? But then I'd just be being silly.:-) -
I watched a little of the match and Liverpool weren't very good, a Shelvey shot that would be embarassing at my level and more evidence for my preference for Lambert over Carroll. Kuyt maybe, but in a better team as his body language didn't encourage, Skrtl has a certain russtic charm, but nobody you'd really say "oooh, fancy him in my team"..

You seem an expert. Don't think so, maybe when I stop playing sport and put on weight. Until then I'll leave the place to you. -

In the spirit of this thread.. hope it was a sailing boat and not a stink boat.. people shouldn't blah blah blah. ;-) -

Exactly! And there are people who are trying to tell other people what they should and shouldn't do or wear and others of us who don't give a t0ss. I can't face this stupidity anymore and not being a sociologist I'm off. -

Depends if it's Blakes or International... I reckon a sociologist would be fascinated by this thread: the minute attention to which brand is current and worn by which sub-group and the denigration of others based on that. Most of the time I haven't a clue what I'm wearing and I couldn't even tell you the make of the special dress I bought for a wedding next month. Just sorted out my kit for training this evening so I can at least tell you my football boots are Nike..:-) -
Is it really? ;-)

First sensible thing you've said on this thread. Certainly drunk fewer blue WKDs than you. -

I know what it is sweetheart, I've probably been going to football matches longer than you've been alive; it's just that I'm less worried about what other people do. It seems to engage you a lot. Plus I still play, even if off the bench: I'm quite proud of that. Anyway, I'm off skiing in fresh powder in the morning so keep on posting; I may look in tomorrow. -

I don't think Prune or Prudish are that self aware: I find them quite sad really, as to how worried they are as to what other people think. Frankly if they give me grief on here I won't give a toss. As I said before, dressing up is not my style, but I prefer the people who do it to the negative guys on here who are probably the same ones who would stand against the wall in a night club because they're afraid of what people would think of them. So sad. -
Whilst you're there could you make enquiries about the pre-season tour - I believe in a NA interview he said it was all sorted...

Actually I wouldn't dream of going as a clown. I will now though, just to wind Dune up. Can't wait for August 18th... -
That last thought occurred to me at the weekend watching a stream (not for very long - it was dire) of the Spuds-Blackburn match. Blackburn were so static they made nothing, gave the ball away as nobody was available or had the confidence to give or receive the ball.

Another thanks, and just to say you write a good lead-in headline!
-
Oh yes, and as everyone has pointed out a bit more pace in the mix..
-
I don't watch enough UK football - or Italian for that matter - to really be able to comment. Noticed the pace (and height!) of Clyne when we played them, but few others stood out on the dodgy streams I watched on. I wouldn't be surprised if we picked up someone from Europe, and in Italy at the moment crowds are dropping, there are betting scandals, ultras threatening players - so I reckon we could offer a better package to the right player. Just show them the peaceful and happy pitch invasion and the happy players and the selling is done!

Only got up at 2pm my time, so having my first mug of tea and I didn't power down the PC last night so here I am. No headache, just euphorically tired and thank goodness in spades my footie team have a rest day..
-
Just been to look at their score.. indeed.. Southampton Old Boys, Southampton Old Boys...
-
I've just removed you from my ignore list. I know that's a bit of a teasing thing to say, but it's true and meant in a positive if drunkish way! I hope we enjoy the ride. Might be a bit roller-coaster though... take them with more equanimity and you'll enjoy them more!

Not yet, for goodness sake, I've got a beer or two to finish before I hit the town....
