Does anyone think there's something going on between Hypo and Turkish? They always turn up together to support each other whenever there's a hint of support for equality. What do people think: bears, leather men or gym buddies?

Then the same with Newcastle two weeks later.. There's no news of the Newcastle tickets on the OS yet, does anyone know when there might be?
-
With the pace and power he has he'll certainly be effective in the high press when he learns the triggers. I can see the odd fullback just kicking the ball out for safety reasons! We'll then need a long thrower: what's this Delap kid they've talked about like?
-
Let's hope it's Broja and Tella for the pace. Whoever we end up with, it's a far cry from the pace and effort of Charlie Austin not so very long ago.. Edit: Had to check.. 2 years and one day ago he left!

Better than before but slow and still only a back-up at best: I'd prefer a fit Smallbone.

Being ignorant about the player I went and had a look at a highlights reel. Some of the defending was a bit rubbish, though you can see that too in the top division, but what I liked was his two-footedness, decent power and placing on his shots but most of all his anticipation and ability to get in front of the defender as epitomised by a diving headed goal. Anybody any idea how good he is at bringing other people into play which is where Ings was good, although I can see Adams taking on more of that role?
-
If it's all confirmed, and I saw the news in The Guardian before coming here!, will he have Adam on his shirt to avoid confusion?!
-
Well, I watched the community shield just now, and although both teams are far better than us there were a lot of misplaced passes and lack of control, witness the defending for the goal. The match report I read on the Man U - Everton game was also fairly negative about the latter, so although we hate going to Goodison Park perhaps the first game is as good as any. As Whelk said "Everton also has potential to be hilarious car crash.", so it would be good if we could start off the process.

Nah, I'd have worn my football boots if I had a chance to get on the pitch. Other posters have saved me the bother of pointing out your delight in being shit. I was right about the masochism.

Well, it's worth reminding people that this isn't our strongest line up!

On Radio Solent earlier all I could hear was TCWTB..

Thanks to whoever posted the link.. I'm trying to take a few positives from the game but it's difficult. Obafemi is certainly putting more effort in and looks faster but Long alongside him makes me despair. Salisu looking better all the time, McCarthy definitely not.. Valery looks stronger but his full back positional play is no better although he has used his pace once or twice to recover situations. Armstrong not quite at the races but he's not a worry in the longer term. Djenepo is Djenepo, shame he spoiled that final run by going down so easily but at least he's likely to do something unexpected.

I think they did, certainly KWP. When all is said and done it's a friendly and no need to risk anyone.

Powerful and moving article in The Guardian today: https://www.theguardian.com/world/2021/aug/07/covid-patients-reunited-with-the-medics-who-saved-them

Just been online to see about tickets and of course it's £15 on the day, I've got to get there, the choices are right in the corner and nobody else I know is going: think I'll save myself the bother if it's only a reserve team we are playing.
-
Let's look on the bright side: we don't have to worry about him getting injured this season! Actually that's the basis for a good question at the Radio Solent fan's forum anyone who goes: "Are you relieved that you don't have to worry about Ings getting injured this season?"
-
That thought occurred to me too. It was a bit of a gamble signing him with his fitness record but at 100% he had another dimension to his game.

PS who was Trialist A?

The reason you have been called a troll, although I don't recall when (and no, you don't need to point it out) is that you are a high volume purveyor of mostly inconsistent rubbish with not the slightest positive thing to say about the players, the club or anybody associated with it. Whatever happens is negative. Obviously such pessimism makes you happy: I think it's called masochism and a friend of mine knows a dominatrix somewhere in Shirley. I'm sure she could get into Saints kit and screw-in studs for you..

whelk, I'm so sorry. Particularly after pointing out your punctuation errors on a football thread earlier. Rest in peace. But do remember your full stops. Luckily ouija boards don't need punctuation.

Has the Dic posted any football related posts on Saintsweb, or is he just a monomaniac troller? In Covid news closer to home one of my football team colleagues has tested positive, but luckily she didn't come to the signing on session this week as she was feeling so rough. She's a teacher, and although the kids are now off I imagine a lot more contact with non-vaccinated people than many of us vaccinated oldies on here. It's still out there, so I haven't relaxed my guard completely.

I should apologise to whelk really, but whilst I'm on a roll it's 'bated' breath not 'baited' (see someone else above)! As for scratching an itch I've got my infected swollen arm for that and just hope the antibiotics are working: the steroids haven't had any effect! -
Not sure we should overthink it too much but with so many pre-season games the subs just disrupt and also reassure the players on the pitch that they don't have to worry about doing 90 minutes, there is always an easy out for them. Having only 4 subs was a reminder that they'd have to grit it out. It also gave the rest of the squad the chance to just relax and even if they were there watching none of the hassle of changing, prep, warm up, anticipation and then disappointment of not playing.

5/10, see me.. 😉 I do agree with your point though, it's all a bit dramatic and needless. Losing a fit, motivated Ings now is a worry but no surprise, so it will be interesting to see how he performs for Villa and more importantly perhaps, how many times in this season. The following season when he definitely would have been gone isn't so much of a bother. I'd just love us to finish above a Villa without Grealish.. but reading SKD I'm not sure we will win a game..
