He was a shadow of his former self the other day. Awful. Had thought he might be a good option for us but really not convinced he's still got it.

There seems to be a commonly held view that the only players we must buy are those who are better than our first choicers. I think think this is to miss the point a little. We need strength in depth to cover positions, so therefore cover for Shaw at LB could conceivably not be as good as him but better than Fox. This applies to other positions in my view too. Obviously, the best scenario is to improve the first team, but this seems fairly settled, assuming we hang on to our best players.

I think the timing would be a little odd during the transfer window, no? Wouldn't it mean clubs would up their prices for our targets? Or perhaps it's good timing because we have no targets...

So he can step in when we sell Shaw to Chelsea next season. (sorry, in answer to dell days)

I'd like to see us get another big bruising defensive midfielder to break up play occasionally, and as back up for when injuries strike people like Cork (as they will). Would also like to see another CB as cover for the same reason. Sorry. Greedy.
