Now this: By Declan Warrington Friday, January 13, 2012 0 comments Fulham have entered the race for Watford striker Marvin Sordell, and now look to be the favourites to land the England Under-21 star. The Hornets hitman is set to leave Vicarage Road during the January transfer window and has been linked with a number of Premier League and Championship clubs. West Ham have already had a £3million bid for the 20-year-old turned down and Bolton, Blackburn, Newcastle and Southampton have all been circling. But talkSPORT understands the Cottagers are now in pole position to sign the highly-rated forward.

We're after the Watford striker. Us and Fulham, according to tweet from Talksport's Moose. England U 21 player. Sounds good to me.

He's off to Middlesbrough.

Quite the reverse. He'll keep popping up in the box...

That's right, the sub writes the headline generally, but that goes through another tier (or should) of proofing, with the editor having the final see. So you'd have thought that with it being the local newspaper someone might have realised. Still, no-one died. Except Warnock's career. Why DO people think Mark Hughes is any good at all? The man is made of TEFLON.

Ex-Saints boss favourite to replace Warnock 7:40pm Sunday 8th January 2012 in Sport Skip social links Print Email Comments(3) FORMER Saints striker Mark Hughes has been installed as one of the favourites to replace Neil Warnock after QPR sacked their manager tonight. Here are some of the names already being linked with the Loftus Road vacancy. MARK HUGHES Former Wales and Manchester City boss Hughes' name immediately surfaced upon Warnock's sacking. The Welshman is available having left Fulham in the summer and his stock in the game remains high following his achievements in previous positions. RAFAEL BENITEZ Former Liverpool boss Benitez has made no secret of his desire to return to the Premier League and has been out of work since an unsuccessful spell with Inter Milan ended just over a year ago. Perhaps importantly, though, the Spaniard has not experienced a relegation battle for over a decade. GIANFRANCO ZOLA Former West Ham boss Zola has long-standing professional links with London and the Italian was considered unfortunate to lose his job at Upton Park in 2010. His footballing ethos would appeal to the QPR supporters and hierarchy but he remains something of an unknown quantity in terms of management. RAY WILKINS The former Rs player and manager also has experience managing and coaching with the likes of Millwall, Chelsea and Fulham. However, his last role as a full-time, permanent manager was with the Cottagers back in 1997-98 and he is currently engaged in work as a television pundit. SVEN-GORAN ERIKSSON The former England boss usually crops up in bookmakers' lists and is bound to be linked with this post too. However, following his unsuccessful spell at Leicester, the Swede must be regarded as an outsider. STEVE BRUCE Out of work since leaving Sunderland recently, the former Manchester United centre-half still has a decent reputation in the game and the prospect of big money to spend at Loftus Road would surely appeal.

Erm. Isn't this thread about the draw? And Saints? When's it on anyway?
-
More likely to sign Aled Jones

Sharp deal completes on Monday apparently. For Leicester, obv.

Very pleased. An important win to stop the rot. Don't care what they say about the cup being a distraction. This will be good for momentum and to ease Adkins' pressure.

play normal team and try to get spirit back

http://www.stuff.co.nz/taranaki-daily-news/news/6220319/Ridiculous-names-rejected#share Ridiculous names rejected Parents who tried to name their child Mafia No Fear are among hundreds who had their choice of name rejected in the past decade. Justice was the most popular disallowed name, with royal titles, religious references and punctuation marks among names parents tried to bestow upon children. A child and family psychologist who has even seen children named after illicit drugs says parents need to be more careful about stigmatising their kids. A list provided by the Internal Affairs Department shows 350 parents had the names they chose for their offspring rejected in the 10 years ending June 30, 2011. The list of disallowed names follows the release of the most popular names for 2011 - Liam and Ruby - this week. The most popular rejected name was Justice - 49 people tried to name their child that, along with alternate spellings Justus and Juztice. Royal titles featured heavily - King, Prince, Princess, Knight, Queen, Queen V, Queen Victoria, Lord, Lady, Baron and Duke were all rejected as were Royal, Royale, Majesty and Majesti. Religious references Messiah, Christ, Bishop, Saint and Lucifer didn't make the cut either. Mafia No Fear, Anal, V8, single letters, the Roman numerals I, II, III, punctuation symbols * . and / and titles such as President, Emperor, Chief, Constable, Sargent and General were also rejected. Internal Affairs deputy registrar-general Ross McPherson said no names were banned, but they did have to fall within the bounds of the law. "In general terms, people can register whatever names they like for their children," said Mr McPherson. "However, some rules do apply." Names could not be more than 100 characters, use an unearned title, or be offensive to the general public, he said. "So, one couldn't, for example, register a swear word as a name for their child or couldn't, without adequate justification, register a name of Justice, Colonel or Royal." Names also had to be actual words, not numbers or symbols. Last year it was reported that the name Nevaeh - heaven backwards - had been questioned but ultimately allowed. Now it is the 38th most popular girls' name. In 2008, Family Court Judge Rob Murfitt publicly criticised some parents' choice of names, after he ordered that a Taranaki girl named Talula Does The Hula From Hawaii be taken into court custody so she could change her name. Her name had not been registered in New Zealand, but other names such as Violence, Chardonnay and Number 16 Bus Shelter had been. Fairfax NZ

BBC news report of the goal today said it 'made history'. Then mentioned the other ones. D'oh.

Can anyone remember the rules re work permits?
-
We're rubbish at work permit applications. If I remember correctly. Hope this one goes through.

Weirdest tongue in history.

They're halting building work at Staplewood because we're not playing well? Good grief. What a lack of confidence. What message does that send out to the whole cclub. Idiotic if true. And/or worrying if our finances are that frail. If we spend a few million on this and transfers, we might get £60m by going up. *sighs*
-
Huh. I'm disgusted that we are still top. DISGUSTED, I tell you. *polishes irony hat*

OK, I'll shut up about it now.
